Paul√ / Paulv2k4 FC26 Gameplay Mod (The fun and realistic mod by a FIFA/FC Veteran)

My only real feedback is that as much as I love the loose dribbling, I think it could be reined in a bit.

I've found that la liga plays especially well with the mod.

Saw lots of passing errors too. And fouls. Nearly a dozen for me in barca vs Madrid.
Sure, there are space for improvements. If the running animations could be a bit more smooth is some example for me. But for Paul´s first release I can see when he fine tune some aspects of the mod we can enjoy. Been tensed of the new release. But at this point it´s time to test more. I am sure more details coming when I play more Games. Played so far 8-10 Matches. And like I mentioned I will start a fresh Career with 3rd League team in Germany or a 4th league team in England.
Btw. did you saw that headers are happening from the AI? I had after a long time 2 header goals against me when playing vs Barcelona which I can´t remember in the whole 25 season. At least not 2 in 1 Match. Also when the AI having an corner kick I saw them trying to score directly with a header if not my defensive is better positoned.

- I plan on continuing with development as soon as I can. I will start version 2 tomorrow.
- I want people to be aware, I am not trying to make an "ultra slow, ultra realistic" mod here. It's all about making the game fun whilst adding realistic mechanics, making sure attributes matter and making it as difficult as possible. This is the most fun I've had in a FIFA/FC for a long time. It's such a pity that I have had to spend so much time on tooling to get to this point.

Oh yes...with the headers. City absolutely thundered in a header from the penalty spot against me, because I stopped focusing for a few seconds.

When the net rippled, I was genuinely unclear on what had happened.

I've also noticed headers being fun to score with.

I've had to adjust to this mod because it's not the sort of simulation that's been created for many years. It's caught me out and realised how lazy ive been playing football games over the years.

You really need to scan each time your player receives the ball.

(Im in a slightly curious place where I love the mod but am trying to work out if I like the game!)

Will be interested to know if Paul thinks dribbling is too loose or whether he's sticking to this approach. I think id be happy with either...

Im on board with this avoiding an ultra slow game. Football is not slow, whatever people like to pretend. It's fast and dynamic, though just slower than vanilla fifa.

I like how you've kept your mod explosive where necessary.

Now ive sorted technical issues I was having with the game, ive been able to enjoy it far more.

At times, with the camera mod, you could mistake the game for real life, with a little squint! Amazing that you do this work for free.

I find playing the premier league really tough and intense. Atm, la liga is proving more manageable on WC.
 
It's truly incredible what you were able to achieve in such a short period of time @Paul-v, this gameplay is really fun! It's neither crazy fast arcadey like vanilla nor slow and sluggish. AI actually commited a penalty! First time I saw one of those. It would be very nice if you could increase CPU fouls further, maybe by increasing tackle/slide tackle likeliness parameter or something, because most of the time it's just me making fouls with an almost clean tackle and it gets a little annoying (I mean, if this is the trade-off we gotta make in order to actually have fouls in this game, I don't mind it at all).

Sometimes the World Class CPU makes way too many mistakes when pressured, I got plenty of free corners and throw-ins. It's nice to have these mistakes happen in order to make the CPU more human, but it could be just a little toned down imo, if possible.

Ball physics are on point, I saw so much randomness and ball freedom. At first I was skeptical about a competitive gameplay mod so trying this out was really surprising, especially because I didn't enjoy the Test Gameplay you released last week, but this one is so much more polished. My only concern is that whenever EA updates UT gameplay, this mod will also be affected, and they modify online gameplay in every single update
 
I am also a long time semi controlled Player. I switched to FUMA 2 or 3 years ago and I haven´t regret. The thing is just even with now 2 years on FUMA I am worse playing it this way. 😆And on top of that like an old school Playstation fifa Player I have less patience by building my game plan. SO it ends often in harsh passing errors which leads for sure to goals. But! I wouldn´t go back to semi because when sometimes you score a goal it´s much more satisfying because it needs a good level of skills.
Related directly to your question try a semi/FUMA set up, just for checking a difference which you felt better with and easy to switch back to semi.
The first time I played this settings which helps me not loosing every game by 0:5 or 0:6.
A.e.: Shots on semi, because if I switched to manual I would still aiming shots on goal to the barn door behind the stadium.
Passing and long passes I only play FUMA because it gives a much geater and deeper freedom to passing other than assisted or semi. I still struggeling with cross settings. I tried it long time also with FUMA but my aiming... haha
So in general I must correct my played settings to 90% FUMA. I could switch back to legendary when I would play semi. But it´s more rewarding to score a goal or make manual throughpass and that leads to a goal than with semi controlled imo.
You think manual short passing is the mainreason i can escape theopponents pressing or the cpu midfield cant press the right gaps ?
 
Made an account here after discovering your mod and playing it so that I can provide feedback if it would be of help!

First of all, I'm amazed at how you can achieve this in such a short time! The pace of the game is perfect, there is actual weight on the ball when passing and when sprinting. Much much better than the authentic one from vanilla FC!

My observations after playing about 10 games with different teams from different leagues:

1. The weight of the ball when passing is fantastic! Sometimes in Vanilla FC, you cannot feel the pass itself, the ball feels weightless especially when crossing the ball.
2. I can actually see fouls now! One major complaint from Vanilla FC is the lack of fouls especially in legendary. The CPU always tackles perfectly and does not go into tackles during 50/50 balls, hence no fouls are called.
3. The pressing is great, the best implementation I've seen after playing even with sliders. You can see players from pressing teams like Liverpool and Arsenal press when you're trying to pass out from the back.
4. Fullbacks and Wingbacks actually perform as intended now! Played Chelsea away and saw Marc Cucurella playing as a wing back and sometimes drifts on the left center mid when attacking.
5. I like the ball freedom where in every 180 turn is not too fast which was so unrealistic in FC 26.
6. The errors made by the User and CPU is great, more unpredictable tackles and battles for the ball.
7. The AI now actually attacks. When playing against tricky and speedy wingers, they actually take you on and go to the byline.

Things I would like to improve (this is just constructive criticism and very nit-picky but I thought it might possibly help you if you agree!)

1. The ball freedom is great, but I would just like to see it scaled more via the player's attributes. (E.g, when playing with players with excellent ball control like Saka for example, maybe lessen the ball freedom a bit?)
2. Sometimes, the defensive line drops too much even when my tactics is a high defensive line. (I don't know if youll agree, but just an observation!)

Thank you so much for the mod! This was the best experience playing FC 26 so far.

No, manual short passing and other settings to manual makes it just more difficult to succeed with every pass you play to your Teammates. The manual controlling makes the game more difficult for me because you will face more own passing errors. SO this means the game slows down on your side compared to having every pass or throughpass easily assisted receive your next teammate. You play on Legendary and say you can easy escaping the pressing of the AI. Think why it´s so easy for you!? Because the assisted system makes always accurate help for you by passing, shooting, throughball etc. It´s something you can´t have in FUMA because in that control system you must really aim your pass or shot accurate to the position of your teammates or where the goal is for a shot.
You see it easily in my Video how often my passes are inaccurate so it´s not possible to ping pong the ball into the AI´s Box and score like in default. When I would decide to play semi you won´t see so much inconsistance Game plan from my team.
I am not saying anybody should go to manual if it feels not familar for him, but to have an higher difficulty level especially on Legendary when it seems to easy it´s an recommend way imo to switch to fuma where you must much harder work to create chances and pass through the game easily.

Did we speak here from Vanilla Gameplay or did we speak from Paul´s mod you are also playing? Which slider settings do you use? And which gameplay mode you are using?
 
I've finally been able to play a few more matches the way I wanted with your gameplay. I'm not an expert at analyzing every detail like physics, AI behavior, and positioning, but as a football lover and a huge fan of the PES simulation experience, I believe this gameplay offers the best football experience around.
Played on legendary difficulty and with FUMA controls, it gives you a sense of freedom of movement and unpredictability that left me speechless on several occasions.
Everything you'd expect in a real match happens: bad tackles, mistakes in passing, poor first touches, and a match pace that rises and falls depending on the moment.
Scoring on a header from a full-back's overlapping cross is incredibly satisfying.
There are fouls from all over the pitch; it seems obvious, but EA made us regret even that.
@Paul-v Thank you for this great work; it's a blessing that there are modders with your knowledge who can fix what the EA developers can't.
I've only noticed one small issue: sometimes when trying to intercept a ball or make a sliding tackle, the command isn't recognized and start an animation where the player follows the ball carrier without doing anything.

Yes I have noticed that as well, sliding and standing tackles have a weird delay or don't happen at all while using the mod. It seems to be stats based because if I remember correctly it wasn't happening when controlling CBs, will test again soon

Edit: Seems to be stat-based, because my 84 defence CDM and CB can slide tackle instantly, players with 81 defence or below won't tackle at all, and I haven't been able to use strong standing tackles (RB + B). Also, I don't know for sure if this is related to the mod, but sometimes the game crashes and closes in the middle of the match, it just happened to me and it's not the first time after I started using the mod (I have a pretty decent PC and run the game smoothly on Ultra)
