Celtic close in on japanese signing

Celtic manager Gordon Strachan is confident of clinching the signing of Reggina midfielder Shunsuke Nakamura.
Strachan said: "It's going great. The lad wants to be with us so it is going great.
"You never know what will happen but last night things were looking very good.
"I haven't spoken to him personally but the club sells itself. Everywhere you go people know about Celtic."
He added: "He's great going forward, with his vision, and he sees things a lot of people can't see.
"He can run with the ball and he is a decent lad as well.
"I have done a lot of homework and have spoken to people who have worked with him all over the place so I know what he's like.
"He also starred against Brazil and was man of the match so from that you can say he's not bad."
Reggina president Lillo Foti said: "We are close to the conclusion of the relationship between Nakamura and Reggina, a fantastic relationship that allowed Shunsuke to be professionally known in Europe and allowed Reggina to be appreciated in Far East," said Foti.
"The negotiation with Celtic might positively end soon."

SHUNSUKE Nakamura this afternoon became the seventh new Celtic signing of the Gordon Strachan era as the Japanese midfield playmaker penned a three year deal at the club.

Nakamura has signed, subject to passing a medical and securing his work permit and is viewed by Celtic manager Gordon Strachan as the player with the ‘vision’ to mould chances for his front line.

The 27 year-old has spent the last three seasons in Serie A with Reggina and is regarded as a superstar in his homeland. This afternoon, Strachan expressed his clear delight over the signing.

“Once he’s out on the pitch, I’m sure our fans will realise very quickly why we were so keen to secure his signature,” commented the manager. “He’s a very special talent.

“He’s a player who can bring an extra dimension to any team, and having done our homework on him and asked many people about his background and temperament, we are delighted the deal has been done.

“I’ve no doubt it’s going to prove a great bit of business for Celtic, and I’m looking forward to him pulling on the hoops and showing our fans why we have worked so hard to bring him here.”

Nakamura is the club’s seventh preseason signing, following Mo Camara, Adam Virgo, Jeremie Aliadiere, Maciej Zurawski, Paul Telfer and Artur Boruc into Celtic Park.

Having been locked in negotiations with the player’s agents at Celtic Park today Chief Executive Peter Lawwell also revealed that the player’s popularity in his homeland will also allow the club to explore new commercial opportunities in the Far East.

“Nakamura is a player Gordon Strachan was especially keen for us to secure, given his superb pedigree in the game,” commented Lawwell. “This is a player who has played in Serie A for the past three years, who is a mainstay of the Japanese national side, with over 70 caps, and who is one of the biggest footballing icons in Far East football.

“He’s here first and foremost for his footballing pedigree, which is evident from the man-of-the match award he won when playing for Japan against Brazil. However, the opportunities he will bring in terms of commercial spin-offs, especially in Japan and the Far East, are of great interest.

“One of the most complicated aspects of the negotiations was the player’s image rights, which Celtic have secured. This could lead to an increase in merchandising sales in the Far East, as well as a significant boost for our other services and products.

“Shunsuke is, alongside Hideo Nakata, the most famous footballer in Japan and I hope that the fans will feel that their patience has been rewarded when they see Nakamura and the other six new signings making an impact this season.

“I’d also like to thank the chairman Brian Quinn, Dermott Desmond and the rest of the board for their support in enabling us to spend money on players at a time when very few clubs have been able to pay transfer fees as well as players’ salaries.”

Nakamura himself will arrive in Glasgow within the coming few days to complete his medical, while work permit details are already being progressed.

Commenting after the deal was completed, Nakamura said: “Celtic are obviously an enormous football club with an extremely passionate support. This was one of the main reasons I have signed and I can’t wait to get started and show the fans what I can do.

“I’m confident of a successful season in Glasgow, both in the league and in Europe and look forward to meeting up with my new team-mates later this week.”

In a few hours, Walter Samuel will be unveiled as an Inter player.

Also Robinho is NOT A REAL MADRID PLAYER:

Santos striker Robinho's move to Real Madrid has been rejected by the Brazilian Football Confederation. 'We are informing you that it is impossible for us to send the International Transfer Certificate for Santos player Robinho,' CBF general secretary Marco Antonio Teixeira wrote in a fax to the Spanish Football Federation.

Real Madrid agree Robinho deal

Following the agreement to sign Sevilla striker Julio Baptista, Real Madrid have now agreed a deal (only this) to sign Santos striker Robinho. No fee has been disclosed, however, the brazilian is set to sign a five-year deal.
Real Madrid vice-president Emilio Butragueño said: "We are delighted. He is a very important signing for us. We need great players and he's one of them."
He added: "They [Robinho and Baptista] are two great young players and they will form a very good base for the team.
"We have reached an agreement with Santos over Robinho but he won't join up with us until August 25 because the club has requested that he play another game or two as a way of saying goodbye to their fans."

Yes Milanista, I'm. Some days ago I asked to Kezz to eliminate my account as Glavisted because I had a serious problem in the hispanic forum www.winningeleven.com that I was an administrator; Kezz eliminated my old account and I registered me as Wolmisted.
