they should keep toni, only chance for a really good next season. only 3 real strikes proved to be shite this season...

olic, klose, toni, gomez would be perfect for a good european run

Toni has to go. He earns way too much to be a bench warmer and could generate some money from a transfer still. (others will follow, too, Lell, Ottl, Borowski, one of the three right midfielders etc.)

And I don't see how Toni, in his current form, would guarantee for anything "good". He missed way more than he scored this season and is awful on the ball.
I'd miss the character, but not the player.

When does the transfer window officially open? Is it open now?

I cant wait to start making transfers on my Pro Evo & Fifa

okay, he was not good. but they need a replacement, don't you agree? if they again go back to the old game of "our 4th youth striker (müller) is good enough for everything we want to achive" they will fail as miserably as they did this season.

olic is no real striker and then you have klose and gomez up front. wow. ;)

They didn't "fail miserably" at all, in my opinion. It was crystal clear beforehand that Barca would eliminate them from the CL and that defending the title with a new coach/concept after the double would be hard, too.

Gomez, Klose, Olic and Müller as a backup are enough.
You cannot get a fourth striker with the class and paycheck of either of the first three and regularly have two of them warm the bench. We're not talking about Barca or the English giants here.
Depending on what Van Gaal is planning Hoeness might get someone with a high profile who hasn't been performing so well in the recent years, but I think four guys are enough. If one should get injured I think THIS TIME they will get a replacement during the winter-transfer-window.

Fact of the matter is: Toni has to go! :P

no one would pay "good money" for toni today. he's 32 and he's coming from a bad season.

u could just sell him for a bargain price..... and it would be an immense mistake, as u would loose the cf who scored most goals in europe in the last 6 years (and this is a fact).

i mean come on.. this is his first poor season since 2003! it was just a form issue... and however.... 16 goals in 29 matches... for most of the strikers in the world this couldn't even be considered a "poor" season.

i can see your point, when u say "he's too expensive to be a backup"..... but, as a matter of fact, when luca is in form (and i repeat this was his first disappointing season in the last 6 years), he's not a backup... not even in a team with supermario, and klose.

just try to imagine this... u sell him now for let's say 8 millions euros (i can't see anybody outside england byuing a 32 years old striker for more than that). then next year he has another of his standard seasons and scores +30 goals...
how would u feel? :))

however i guess this conversation actually belongs to the bundi thread :P

He is really not good at all atm;)
I don't tink he'll get back on the track again at his age.

The problem is he earns so much at Bayern, serious newspapers talk about 5 Mio. €, no club will pay that wage for Toni. So he will stay at bench in Munich for 5 Mio/year instead of going to a smaller club for 2 Mio/year.

I think Bayern will try to get rid of him this summer though it won't be easy to find someone to buy him...

indeed it does belong to the bundesliga thread. :) if we want to keep going, lets move the discussion there. i've made my point of view clear, nothing else to add :)

there is a team in Europe who every year buy this kind of player (Emerson, Senderos, Shevchenko, Favalli, etc.) and they need a striker because Borriello is always injured......... :P

Elrio Van Heerden (Club Brugge) to Blackburn Rovers (i read it in the Belgian papers, not sure if it's official though).

Manuel Pellegrini > Real Madrid

Great appointment.

I don't disagree, but one could have said that of Juande Ramos too (even as a Spurs fan).
I'm afraid there is more needed than a good coach if Real wants to become a football super power again...
