Manuel Fernandes (Benfica) -----> Portsmouth

Harry Redknapp today confirmed the loan signing of midfielder Manuel Fernandes.
The blues appear to have reached an agreement with Benfica to bring the 21 year old to Portsmouth on an initial loan deal, whilst he regains his fitness. Once he's fit again, a fee of around £8.5million will be paid to make the move perminant.
Fernandes has been with the club for a month now after he failed his initial medical in July and club Physio Gary Sadler has started the rehabilitation process with the Portuguese international.
Redknapp said "We're taking it day by day, but he did a bit yesterday in training. He's not going to be fit for a while, but we've loaned him and I think the deal is he signs when he is fit"
"If we can get him fit he'll be a top player for us"
"We can certainly do with him because hes an outstanding young footballer"
"We don't have to rush in to anything with him"

(TINGA) amazing player in my opinion.

bah, fails in Europe. Has been in Sporting CP and is one of those brazilians that playes super there but plays crap here (another good example Deivid). He is also tremendously stupid, which was shown by his sent off yesterday.

Re: Official Transfers Only - Summer 2006

Holy mother of God!!! Boulah to Chelsea was the last thing I expected. Tell me if I'm overreacting but this is one of the best defenders out there. So fan-tas-tic transfer for Chelsea, but I don't think he will play there much.

Re: Official Transfers Only - Summer 2006

:(

Now I know why he has managed to get himself injured at the warming up right before the CL qualifying game against CA Osasuna ...

Anyways, Hamburger SV bought him for €1.500.000 and sold him for €13.000.000; not that bad.

Re: Official Transfers Only - Summer 2006

The Boulahrouz transfer is indeed a huge surprise! never heard any rumours about it. Now Hamburg have lost their kick-ass Centre defense pair of Boulah and van Buyten, doesnt look too good :(

Re: Official Transfers Only - Summer 2006

They 've replaced Van Buyten by Kompany who is much better and much younger...i don't see where the loss is for HSV...

Re: Official Transfers Only - Summer 2006

Well, i know Kompany is a huge talent, but im not sure if id say hes much better than an experienced player like van Buyten, who was also the captain and scored a lot of goals with his head. The other defender will then probably be the tall Reinhard whose not the same quality as Boulahrouz.
