For those of us that DO actually like the game (and care), the official patch has just been released on GFWL.

Will be ch-ch-checking this out later tonight.

Re: F1 2010

Is there no way you can race a single Grand Prix weekend on this? Recently got this and with the Canadian Grand Prix today, I fancied having a race round the Jacques Villeneuve circuit but as a GP, had to just set up a custom GP season just to race the track and race rather than just do Time Trial.

Re: F1 2010

I believe there is, it's called "Grand Prix" or something similar. The mode to the right of the career mode, if memory serves me well.

Re: F1 2010

That's what I clicked, but had to add about 19 or 20 GP weekends to play the Canadian one, so I just filled the whole thing out with Montreal, just found it abit bizarre that you couldnt just play a one off GP weekend.

Re: F1 2010

Ah, I know what you're talking about now. That's the correct mode, it allows you to do anywhere from 1 to 20 GP weekends. Once you select Montreal (or whichever track you want to do), you'll want to select the arrow to the right of your chosen track (that will have appeared on the 'calendar'). That's a bit vague since I don't have the game in front of me, but hopefully it's enough to convey the point!

Re: F1 2010

Come the next GP weekend, I'll give it a try, thanks for your help. After racing round Canada for abit, I started a real career, as I chose only 3 seasons, I got offered a drive in middle teams. So chose Toro Rosso. Got 2nd on the Grid in Bahrain, and won it, couple of scares though as spun a couple of times, but still beat Vettel. I am playing on Medium difficulty, suspect I should up that or customize it a little bit. I found qualifying tough enough, but the GP easy in the end, shall see when I next get a chance to play the game how I go.

Is the game still buggy later on even after the patch?

Re: F1 2010

I haven't played enough of it to know (waiting on a computer upgrade so I can keep a steady 60 fps), but from what I've read the bugs only seem to annoy those expecting a 100% simulation.

Re: F1 2010

The game is bugged to hell yes, but if you have the PC version some people have released mods and fixes which hugely improve the gameplay and realism, it still isn't anywhere near as good as GP4 or rFactor but with the mods and fixes it becomes playable.

+ The patches make the game look alot better too as they introduce high res textures and 2011 cars and performance.

Re: F1 2010

bsmaff , well done for sticking with this game.

I swear the AI on this game is not even PS1!

In qualifying and practice all the AI cars do is crawl along or stay stuck to you gearbox then overtake you, only to let you back through again straight away!

Even Forumla 1 97 had the AI cars ACTUALLY set laptimes! They where made up and faked. It's not even like the fake lap times are simulted properly, they are listed in TEAM order in practice. In races they are just horrific! They turn like snails in corners and seem to go a ridiculous speeds on straights! I thought FIFA AI was bad. This is unspeakable! It's just robbery, they should be sued for releasing a game of this poor quality AI wise especially!

yes i play with a xbox 360 controller, the only assist i have on are traction control and auto gears because i like to do 50+ race distances! Well at least i did. I can't stand this game! i tried to like it. It's got good intensity and it's addicte but it's just a really poor game when it comes to AI.

The car handling is almost as ad as the AI. It understeers like hell! No matter what changes you make! genuine lack of sensitivity.

F1 06 had it's issues but it's a great, solid 8/10 game. this is, well 2/10, maybe an 7/10 for addictiveness and presentation but it's just unplayable offline! Broken, broken, BROKEN! game!

Re: F1 2010

yeah drs, kers, more competitive AI and the new tyre degradation. all in all good improvements on top of the game breakers of 2010 which have been fixed

I wish Geoff Crammond etc were still doing F1 Games, had so much enjoyment out of Grand Prix 4 and the predecessors, will keep an eye on this new game when it comes out and give it a go.

flying down the straights of classic hockenheim, wheel to wheel, one small mistake and the wheels touch, one of the car gets airborne, massive crash, engine detaches from the chassis, huge pileup...:APPLAUD:

i was never that into GP4 (my computer could not handle it), but gp 3 + the 2000 addon were amazing! :WORSHIP:

Yeah man, exactly, the good old days, I miss the old Hockenheim! :(

GP4 is amazing, you should give it a try now. People do mods for 2011 season with new tracks, and the graphics are impressive considering how old the game is.

I tried this F1 2011 out, not bad, but where are the Crashes? I accidentally nudged a CPU car off the track on Monza (you know the long right hand bend after the first chicane from the start/finish line), the CPU car was on my outside and I didnt give him enough room, and he went off into the wall, at like 150mph, and carried on going afterwards, no flying tyres or anything, where's the realism? :(

Your last paragraph just put me right off this game. I've seen them doing a lot of things right in the build-up to this being released, but I really wanted realistic crash behaviour - not just talking about the wheels popping off and so on but the repercussions for all involved.

Have never tried GP4, but always meant to. Now is the time!

I have GP4 at home still for PC (did they make it for the old consoles?). Great game!! Only thing was it kept crashing under Windows 98 but I'll try it under XP. I had a force feedback steering wheel for it but had to return it because the game would crash at random points in time. otherwise it was great fun!

Gonna pick this up but want to finish F1 2010 first. Trying to play it with a steering wheel, it's fookin' impossible. I literally go off the track on every bend :(

Just picked up my copy, have tomorrow and the weekend off so should be able to get some solid playing time in. Thought F1 2010 was good fun, but nowhere near as good as GP4.

The realism was the same with 2010.
But with the pc version of the game there were multiple mod which helped a great deal with these problems.
I have not tried f1 2011 yet but I am sure once I do I will be staying with GP4 for my F1 needs.
