NBA 2K9 - PS3/360/PC

Re: NBA 2K9 - PS3/360...PS2

I ordered mine yesterday from Gameplay and it arrived today. I'm crap at it but really enjoy it. The graphics are also quite amazing. I can't defend for my life or set up plays.

im the same

if you go to game modes and practice they have a "run the plays" kinda mode which give you a demo or interactive tutorial on how to pull off plays... prtty sick!!!

but keep at it and try and watch as much nba as you can (thats what i did)

safe

Re: NBA 2K9 - PS3/360...PS2

Even though I love this game, I got spanked 85-40 by the AI. I'm starting to get the hang of it though. Defending better... one problem I have is how the hell do I defend from 3-pointers? Even under pressure the AI always manage to pull off amazing shots.

Re: NBA 2K9 - PS3/360...PS2

I started my season with the Pheonix Suns I like some of their players and I'm getting destroyed. Played my first two games, and I managed to ALMOST beat Atalanta, but lost by about 6 points. Then I got annihaleted by the Chicago Bulls by about 20 points. I'm rubbish at defending, but I think I'll get use to it.

Re: NBA 2K9 - PS3/360...PS2

In order to enjoy the game you must decrease some of the CPU cheating sliders. That's the only way I've found to find some fairness in the game.

Still can't understand how the hell did they left it as it is by default, a marketing suicide in my opinion.

Re: NBA 2K9 - PS3/360...PS2

guys do you have any idea how much this costs in the high street?

is it £29.99 or £39.99. I know its cheaper to order online but if I can find it for £30 on the high st I will pick it up this weekend.

Have not played an NBA game since NBA 2K4 on Xbox.

Re: NBA 2K9 - PS3/360...PS2

My copy has arrived , now I'm going to look for some sliders.

EDIT: Has anyone played in a game where the players don't inbound the ball?! It happened in my 2nd game today, at first it was funny but it happened on every possesion so I quit the game.

Got the game yesterday, and had a real tough time to beat the cpu. I finally did in Rookie! difficulty, and with the Celtics. :) The CPU players can hit shots from outside the arena...

Can one of you guys point me the way to some decent sliders that make the game a little more fair to someone who's just learning the game? Thx

Re: NBA 2K9 - PS3/360...PS2

I'll have a look for you, since your playing on Rookie I think the defaults sliders should be fine until you get the hang of things.

I'm not playing single player until they patch the inbound bug, I'm amazed they didn't spot it during testing.

Well, I playing Rookie because I was tired of the cpu hitting 65-70% of their shots everytime.

If it's not listed, that means there are no changes !!!

Will try these, thanks. :)

Re: NBA 2K9 - PS3/360...PS2

I can't do a damn slam dunk! There is another way to make it instead of use the right stick? I'm playing with a ps2 gamepad.

Re: NBA 2K9 - PS3/360...PS2

Well, I used the sliders suggested by gomito#10 and destroyed the cpu on Pro difficulty, gonna move up to All Star I guess. :)

Well, the shoot button also works for dunks.

Oh yeah I made one with Garnett. :BOP:
I used to play NBA Live so it's difficult to me at the begining.

Re: NBA 2K9 - PS3/360...PS2

This game is spectacular even if the passing routines are totally wrong, remember me of pes... and having to press R1 to pass specifically to someone has some glitches too. The only things that annoy me apart from the stupid clutch factor and the sliders configuration by default.

what do you mean by passing routines, i have had no chance to play this yet, with fifa and hockey keeping me busy

Passing by simply pressing X isnot as accurate as it should be. Too many times the ball goes to the wrong player. That is worst in tiny spaces or when you have to players near each other. The best definition is think of PES passing. The passing routines only read 8 directions thus most times the ball goes to a wrong payer. It's not as blatant as in PES.

Insted, you can pass by pressing R1 and the buttons (triangle, square, circle, cross) but I find it irritating that you can't "lock" to this system and eventually the mode automatically resets. Hard to explain if you don¡t have the game!

i have the game, but i kind of understand what your saying, but bball is more about setting up plays and isolating players so they are 1 v 1 or open for a jump shot, once you understand how to run plays this passing routines as you say become less and less apparent, bball is not like football where you are trying to always find the open man or the man who is best to recive the pass, in bball your tyring to find certain types of players for certain types of situations, start practicing running plays and you will get the hang of it, and easy one is the quick post up play, this should isolate the power forward on the blocks(the blocks is the black foul lane(where the players line up on free throws) closest to the basket. if your trying to quickly pass the ball around the court, then i can see why its hard to pass. the nba does not play like this in real life, why should the game, its about setting your players up for high % fg attempts with plays, not that organic as you might think

I´ll try this to see if i enjoy more the game. So far the offense is just too good with default sliders and even 6 minutes quarter games have the score of almost 70 per game. I hope with those settings the defense is stronger, for both my team and cpu.

PS: Hey gomito, you have some sliders for nhl2k9 to make it less painfull...

2k9 is fantastic with online leagues, offline its not so good vs the cpu...

my online league for that game is simply the best online league i have ever been in
