So it turns out that the pre-release event was kind of a bummer. There was a tournament and two pods you could play on, but the game was basically a demo. Only one five minute quarter between the Cavs and Warriors and no Q&A.
Didn't get the chance to play against the AI, but some of my overall impressions were pretty good. For starters, the game feels higher paced than last year. Bringing up the ball with your PG is much better, the size-ups they talked about were definitely there. The physicality of players is improved a lot too, the difference apart from seeable with the body types is also noticeable when driving or in the post.
Some things I disliked:
-Curry is way too good, and if they don't downgrade him expect a ton of people to spam his high arcing floater, which looked great but was much too easy to pull off.
-Smart plays seem to have gone, I tried them but couldn't find them.
-Posting-up is not done with triangle anymore, at first this caused me some because triangle is now a lob I think.
-Sometimes clipping was really clear.
-Sweat up close looks sort of stuck on to the player at times
-Blocking is something really freakish, I didn't even seem to time it very well at times and I still had some really monster blocks with the likes of Bogut on LeBron. Some of the realistic blocks looked amazing though.
-Alley-oops looked a bit broken.
-Some dunking animations were not very fit for the player, I remember Harrison Barnes pulling off a windmill once.
