MMA thread

Mir been rather cocky himself evident in past TUF but there no doubt in his ability though.

Lesnar does indeed run his mouth but he beast of athlete and as said with correct training could have long bright future in UFC.

if bisping beats hendo and gets a title shot in manchester with silva on the card then i will try and go

who else will be going?

True, I know from seeing various training videos of Lesnar that he's put a lot of work in on his all round game, including his ground game. He is an All-American Pro Wrestling champion though, so surely it's more a matter of refining those skills. I still don't think Lesnar possesses the same mental stamina though. He tends to lose it and try to smash the other guys head in. If he conquers that and keeps his patience in his approach we could see a great fighter.

Ill take

Lesner - Since watching that Countdown i have started to dislike Mir, he has had 1 good fight and all of a sudden he thinks and talks like hes a all rounder. Brock looks fired up for this fight and i think he will knock Mirs head off

Alves - Wrestlers cant take him down so why would GSP be able to? If Alves doesn't get taken down GSP is gonna get knocked the fuck out standing

Bisping - I just dont think Henderson will be able to catch Bisping and Bisping will just pick him off in and out till Hendo tires and will get the decision or Bisping comes in with some Combos and big knees and get a TKO

I'd love to go as well.

Hopefully today we'll find out who is showing 100. Several sites were saying that it would be announced yesterday or today...

There's a good article on UFC.com about Joe Rogan and how he became a commentator. Well worth a look if you have a spare 10 minutes.

I'm praying it's non-PPV... that really would be the final straw. Paid all that money for setanta only to be screwed again.

Woooooooooooooooooooo

UFC 100 this Saturday night will air live in the UK, free to air on Sky channel 433.

As well as airing live via Sky, UFC 100 will also air live via UFC.com - completely free of charge.

Coverage of UFC 100 will commence at 9pm BST on channel 433 as part of a nine-hour block of programming.

All five episodes of the ‘UFC’s Top 100 Fights’ will kick the night off followed by the ‘Countdown to UFC 100’ special. UFC 100 will then air live from 3am BST.

Is that channel available on Virgin?

Edit: Doesn't look like :(

Good job the PS3 accesses the internet, hopefully I can stream it on UFC.com through my TV. I would prefer to watch it through my Virgin box though.

Even if you watched it through your PS3 on the internet, the quality will likely be shit as it'll just be on a small window as opposed to full screen.

Sunday morning job for me then.

You can maximise it/zoom in with R3. I'm sure the quality won't be that bad, youtube streaming is OK.

I might just go down the casino with a few lads, they'll have it on.

So were UFC pushed into this or what? I mean ESPN and Sky were not interested in UFC 100. Why have UFC decided to use Racing World instead of Virgin or Bravo?

Maybe the UFC have done deal with Sky but as it is short notice Sky Sports couldnt change the schedule on Saturday night. Or maybe Sky wanted it on Sky Box Office but there is no time to generate PPV buys.

Or they are going with ESPN and since the new channel not on air yet UFC decided to do air it themselves.

As for the top 100 fights show. I see the UFC going on silly once again!!

Dave Meltzer comments on the UFC Top 100 Fights of all time count down which is set to begin this week on Spike TV:

"I am told the five-part show, which concludes an hour before UFC 100, is very good. As for the list, let's just say it's so petty that they didn't even allow fans to vote for the fight that was No. 2 (Frank Shamrock vs. Ortiz) in this web site's poll and even No. 7 in their own magazine. Basically, everyone on the outs (Ortiz, Frank Shamrock, Maurice Smith) were not allowed to be voted onto the top 100 by fans unless it's a match they lost, and since Frank Shamrock never lost in UFC, he doesn't appear at all. Ortiz's losses will likely all crack the top 100 but none of his wins were allowed to be voted on."

No way I'll be able to stay up all night watching a live stream. I guess I'll have to torrent the bugger now and spend hours and hours downloading it and no doubt run into spoilers as I search for a file.

Fucking fuck tards.

If we do go don't expect to meet up because i will be on one with loads of mates :)

Reporter: “Dana, you know about the UFC.com is streaming live to England?”

Dana White: “Yeah, and we’re on the channel 433.”

Reporter: “But some people don’t have Sky so can you assure them…”

Dana White: “I know, you know what, I’m getting Twittered by people fucking that want to murder me in England because of this. Do you think that we don’t want to be on the biggest platform we could possibly be in to show UFC 100 live? You know, like I say, for us to navigate and do our business in these hard economic times it’s crazy, you know, the network that we’re in business with goes out of business. What the hell am I going to do? I mean, what do I do? If you don’t think we’ve been working our asses off trying to get this thing on a great platform and we were this close to getting a good one and just didn’t work out.”

Reporter: “Are you worried that the stream is not going to be good enough?”

Dana White: “There’s nothing that I can, there’s nothing, I’ve… we have done everything that we could absolutely do to make this happen for the UK fans. Listen, for any UK fan to be pissed at me about UFC 100, I have battled and fought and done everything I can to bring MMA to the UK. And, the UFC. I mean, I was fucking getting my ass kicked over there, I was losing hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars going over there, my first time in there I spent probably fucking $8 million dollars more than I should have on marketing, I mean I have done everything that I can do for MMA in the UK.”

Reporter: “And you’re not going away.”

Dana White: “Exactly, and we’re not going anywhere. We’re going to figure this thing out, we’re going to keep battling over there until we figure this thing out. We’re in the UK to stay and it sucks and I’m sorry that we can’t have a better platform you know to be on, the one that would make everybody happy but I’m trying.”

I have read that ESPN and SKY both offered UFC a deal but both are not willing to pay what Setanta did for the rights.

Surely SOMEONE in the UK would be willing to show the PPV live during the early hours. I mean what else do they all show at that time? Repeats and shit stuff.

Remember although UFC had offers they may not be happy with what is on the table. Nobody is gonna pay what Setanda did!!

Also I am pretty sure UFC wanted to show all full 9 hours of the Top 100 fights and then UFC 100. Which channel would give UFC that amount of airtime?

I dont think any channel would and the only option would of been PPV. This could not of happened as there would of been no time for Sky to generate buzz and PPV buys. Sky would never put an event on PPV with such short notice!

I dont even think Sky are convinced that UFC fans in the UK are willing to pay for UFC on PPV or subscribe to sky sports just for UFC. It would be very interesting to see how many Sky customers signed up to setanta when UFC was no longer on Bravo?

Edit as I just read this on fight opinion from Ivan Trembow

When the Setanta deal was signed in the first place, the Wrestling Observer reported at the time, based on speaking to Zuffa executives, that they had a bigger-money offer from Sky TV, but instead they took the smaller-money offer from the smaller TV network because they felt there would be great advantages to being the centerpiece of the network, much like they are the centerpiece of Spike TV in the United States. It’s not a bad strategy in theory, but it didn’t work out with Setanta going out of business.

They are, Sky channel 433 or have I got it wrong?

I meant as well as that. Dana is saying how he's done everything he can to get the PPV shown in the UK and is even streaming it for free on the site. I can't see why another tv channel hadn't got it if he's just going to let them have it for free to keep the fans happy.
