Might have to wait 2 years for the next pes

I would have rather waited a year for the next pes to be honest. At least people would be prepared and they would still be playing the latest one (Which would be pes6).

It doesn't say we might have to wait for two years though, does it. It says they wanted to delay it by another year THIS time.

To my knowledge, work on the next version started a long while ago now, and it will be very different to previous version.

Even if it is delayed I'm not that bothered - we'll have next-gen FIFA next year, which if it is as good as this year's version, I'll be happy with.

They should have waited another year to release this version so that at least everyone would still be editing it and people who still play pes6 like myself could keep it up to date.

Like Wowlman said, it doesn't say we'll have to wait 2 year for the next PES, but i am 100% with 1 more year to improve PES, but if we look at the situation if they wouldn't release the game in the release date, people wouldn't continue to believe in Konamis dates and would go to Fifa, just has simple as that.

They could wait and release a PES 2008 PlayStation 2 version, like they did, but also for PC... no PS3 and xbox360 version, but they just care about €€€€€

IMO the article says that they might not release PES2009 in 2008, because they want to build a new game from the scratch ("back to the drawing board").
That doesn't mean we have to wait 2 years for next PES version, but it might be in early January 2009 (or late October ;)) instead of the usual release date.

The title says "might", and to be honest I hope it is 2 years. At least we might get a solid PES game out of it.

People suggesting they shouldnt have released it this year - maybe not, maybe - but the next gen consoles have arrived and they had no choice but to go next gen. That doesn't excuse the fact that they SHOULD have been set up to produce a quality next gen product by the deadline given. Its all very well for them to say in hindsight that they dont have the ability to produce a game to their high standards like this on this many platforms - but this should have been anticipated as a problem far beforehand. Somewhere down the line, several years ago probably, somebody should have realised that producing a next gen title requires a better and more structured approach than they are perhaps used to. Once this was realised, appropriate changes should have been made. Its no use making the thing, making a hash of it, then making excuses about it.

I also dont buy for one minute that they wouldnt put a release out next year. This is Konami we are talking about. They would probably sooner redo the menus, add a few more pictures to the master league (a cat maybe) and poorly update a few stats and rosters.

this pes2008 has it good points, but the bad points kills it. the collision detection really disappoints me, not able to choose home/away kits in ml disappoints me etc. but if not for the disappointment of the fans for this year's pes, i doubt they would take actions to try to make pes a better game. in other word, it's actually a good thing now that they're finally going back to the start and try making pes a hit again.

for me, i might give next gen fifa09 a go next year and hopefully when pes comes back, we'll have a different, and better experience.

Maybe a better alternative to Konami's PES and EA's FIFA will show up before then....About time if you ask me

Konami will not leave it two years before releasing the new Pro Evo. It would be commercial suicide for them. For one, everybody would just go and buy FIFA for their 'fix', and secondly they would be missing out on a lot of money.

What I said, and you will find this in interviews, is that Konami have been working on PES 2009 for a long time now. The original idea was to release it this year as PES 2008, but seemingly they realised that was just too big a task, and they need another year to finish that version. That is why next-gen PES 2008 is essentially the same game as the PS2 version, only with better graphics. They changed what they had time to do.

PES 2009 will be a whole different game. They may still screw up the gameplay for all we know - only time will tell.

:applause: It would be nice but the cost of the licences is a stumbling block, and it's a brave company that would release without some of them...

There will be and 09 and I doubt we will see much difference, they will put all their time into correcting the glitches and just put back some of the things that have been dropped over the years, that need coding... I still think it's almost done now...

You would think a new football game would flop, but as Dukelord said - its actually been a long time since another football title was out and able to rival the big two. I think they would get a lot of people buying just to try it out for a change or just to see what its like. With decent marketing (and actually being a good game to start with) I can see it doing potentially fairly well.
