Microsoft Xbox 360

I'd add Table Tennis and Splinter Cell Double Agent to that list as well.

I was a bit worried about the quality of the games on the 360 but I'm very, very glad I've got it now.

Well lads, looks like i'll have to send my 360 back. It appears it's a faulty one, the fan inside it is louder than my tv at normal volume! then I checked my mates 360 earlier with the same games and it's as quiet as it is when in dashboard.

Gutted.

Are you sure? Mine is in no way as quiet as the dashboard. When a 360 game is being played it sounds like it is about to take off. As far as I am concerned that is normal operation.

Positive, I also asked another of my mates with a 360 and he said his is as quiet as that. I can't put up with it, it sounds like it's going to explode. A complete bitch to play at night.

I'm with LemonJelly, I think you just have a lucky mate... It sounds like the world is coming to an end when I put a disc in.

Good luck mate they have failed to pick mine up now for the third time, I just got in touch with Watchdog about it if that fails i'm gonna blow Bill gates's fucking bollocks off.

this is bad news for me with all these problems happening making me worried whether i should get on but i hope they upgrade things inside the 360 by december the 4th

Punctuation and proof reading is a beautiful thing :).

Do what I did with my launch console. I sold it 2 weeks ago with a game for £240 on another forum and rebought a game bundle with 3 games so I have a newer console and another year warranty.

Just switched the 360 on and got told there was an update... Any idea what changes there are (I've noticed a few font changes - the "games out this week" bit has the titles in bold now - and the XBOX menu that you get by pressing the XBOX button looks a bit better laid out as well, but I'm sure that's not it)?

Jack, here is a list of all the new things in the update.

Nice! I got The Matrix on WMVHD 720p, looks great!

I have some wmvhd videos on my pc, but when i play them through the 360 i get black bars all around, it doens't fill the screen. Do you have any problem of that kind?

I've got some 720p porn that I'll be testing out soon...shit, did I just say that out loud?

The 360 is having trouble playing anamorphic films. e.g. on DVD usually the 2.35:1 films come with black bars, but for the WMVHD version they took it out to save space. You can reconvert it to a proper 16:9 res.

Interesting to have that opinion when the console isn't even out yet!!

He had a GameCube since launch and bought five games over time, Zelda, Mario Kart, Mario Sunshine, Luigi's Mansion and Twin Snakes (cause I made him buy it).

He was 11 when the GC came out, and he thinks hes grown up enough to realise that Mario and Zelda are rubbish. And he figures that apart from them, theres nothing else on the Wii (pretty much like the GC)

So at 15 he's hardened to world now eh? :)

As much as I love my 360, dismissing the Wii games out of hand (and a lot of GC stuff) is just daft, you'll miss gems. Res Evil 4 for example, still looks best on cube.

at 15 he knows everything.......

You would really have to love new inventions to want a Wii though, and he's not clever enough to realise a standard controller can be used as well.

Resi 4 looked better on PS2!

alright guys can we now play the kind of "movies" we wanna play. meaning pop em on a cd/dvd and just watch wmv of them?
Yeah, also via USB port.

My 360 isn't working. 3 reds lights flash when I turn it on. I've tried everything I can think of and I've also checked the Microsoft xbox support site (tried all of that too). Anyway, I did call them last night and they said they'd send someone to collect it to get it repaired. Unhappy because I was enjoying Splinter Cell so much and now I'll have to wait.

Anyone had theirs taken to be repaired? How long does it take them? Do I just put it in a box and give it to them?

Yeah mate just stick it in a box, I have phoned em four times now to pick mine up and i'm off today and tomorrow waiting for them to come again. If your not in when they arrive they dont leave anything so you dont have a clue anyones been and you have to rearrange a pick up. My first 360 went on the Friday and came back Monday so it's not too bad.

can anyone help me with something here? If i have a hi def video on my pc, in wmv format for example, can i play them on my xbox 360 if i burn the file onto a dvd without anyconverting? what i mean is will the xbox360 play it like it plays mp3's

Who is you retialer you bought it from? AFAIK, GAME, Gamestation, Currys, HMV, Virgin do a straight swap as it is legally the retailers liability.
