Microsoft Xbox 360

I want a new Links. TW07 has the dodgy boost button and spin you apply *after* the ball's on its way....

The old links works on 360s now you know, stop moaning! ;) I was going to buy it actually, I still play Links 2003 on the PC all of the time, but I don't think there'd be too many people left playing it now, which is a shame.

Tiger Woods is way, way too arcadey for my tastes. And the commentators need shooting. Twice. In the head. From point blank range. And then setting on fire.

It's old links though. God knows I'd like to see a Links game given a proper 360 treatment with hi-red textures and fabrics and stuff. Cosmetic I know, but it makes a big difference in golf games.

Oh, and Live cam face mapping too :)

Yes Links is better and Tiger Woods is more arcadey but I enjoy both of them immensely! I was an old Skool Links player from the early DOS days on PC... loved it :)

Been playing Tiger Woods and the more I play it the more the game falls to pieces, hit a shot perfectly and if you do the exact same thing again it'll go three miles past, or three miles short. Links 2003 on the PC is still the best golf game out there in my opinion - although I've never played 2004 as I didn't have an XBOX in 2004. So, the big question!

Is Links 2004 worth getting or is it 2003 with a facelift and XBOX Live features?

It is nothing like Links 2003. Links 2003 is the classic PC golf sim. Links 2004 on the xbox is what Tiger Woods is aiming to achieve - and failing. It has similar game mechanics but it is far more realistic and enjoyable. Graphically I think it is superior too.

Browse the marketplace without turning your 360 on:

A little confusing but welcome. :)
Welcome, but outdated; don't you think M$?

What good is it M$, if it doesnt show things that are up to date?

It doesnt even have the FIFA 07 demo, NFS Carbon demo or the Tiger Woods 07 demo listed and lord knows what else is missing.

Man I love video game companies, they are always good for a laugh. :lmao:

I was wondering if someone could help.

I have just bought a HDTV and am playing my XBOX 360 on it and it is amazing, just one question, is it better to play on 720p or 1080i.

Any help would be appreciated.

depends on the inbuilt flicker protection on your tv really but as a rule native res on a hdtv is 720p except the latest models, but as the 360 dosent have a 1080p setting id stick with 720p

Its another of those essential updates, though why they take a day to sort out is beyond me

Because its pretty complicated to update a system which is propagated across the world. I wouldn't expect you to understand though ;)

The Passport (MSN id) hook into xbox.com doesn't seem to be active at the moment, hence why you can't see your gamercard.

I'd double check, but I think you'll find NZ is 240V/50Hz same as it is here. You'll need a plug adapter or UK power lead though as NZ plugs have odd diagonal pins on their plugs.

The 360 is running at 720p no matter what setting you set it at in the dashboard and only the scaling chip converts to what you set it to in the dashboard. Simply put the 360 has a native resolution of 720p meaning at all times the 360 itself is running at 720p and using somethings native resolution will generally (almost always IMO) give you the best results.

Quite right, just because the number is higher doesnt neccesarily mean it will be better as deftones says the Native resolution could be lower. Wouldnt bother with 1080 anything because the Xbox 360 doesnt run at 1080.

Great news for those of us who store lots of content on our 360 HD and are starting to find 20GB (13GB in Reality) isnt quite kickin it.

I don't care about bigger hard drives, what MS need to do is get rid of the fucking core system. It is shite! Developers should use the HDD to cache the games, which in turn would make games run quicker and also make the machine a much quieter.

Xbox games in BC mode are silent compared to the take-off inducing 360 games.

Most developers do use the HDD for caching purposes, if present.

Thats because original xbox games are running at around 4x and not 12x like 360 games.
