Re: XBox 360 - Official Thread

I have a 28" Widescreen TV and I have a 19" monitor which I run the 360 through using the VGA cable.

First off, it looks beautiful on the TV and I was really happy to start with.THEN I played it on my monitor and it was incredible to look at. So much extra detail was noticeable.

However 2 drawbacks, for me at least.

Firstly - It feels too much like a PC now and I've lost the console vibe to it. While looking better the games are very very clinical and thats half the reason I dont play PC games. Graphics are slightly too chisseled IMHO.

Secondly - I dont have an armchair and playing at a desk on a chair is not ideal console gaming for me.

Still, when I went back to my TV that I was very happy with before, I found it looked a bit drab for most games.

PGR3 and Cod2 still look amazing on the TV but PD0 and Tiger Woods dont look all that.

All I can say is IF you can get a VGA cable for rrp then do it. Its the cheapest way of High Def. For multiplayer though, I have to go back to my TV as 19" just isnt enough no matter how nice it looks. Its then you notice the huge gulf from SD to HD viewing and you'll probably notice it all the time.

What I think I am saying is that if you never see it running in HD then SD will suffice but once seen, only the screen size will make you want to go back.

This is a massive help, THANK YOU SO MUCH.

...I still don't know what to do though, you make a good case for both!! Wargh... :( Don't suppose you could post a picture of what the 360 looks like on your TV so I can compare it to the hi-def shots?!

Re: XBox 360 - Official Thread

Thats because I am guessing that Flawl3ss looked at amazon.co.uk where as you looked at Amazon.com.

Happy to do so tonight but my camera is utter crap and will probably lose all the effect.

TBH I would say this. IF you can find the VGA at RRP then snap it up. Ultimately its only £20 and you can move from TV or monitor depending on which is most suitable for what you are doing.

They both have pro's and con's, well for me anyway.

Re: XBox 360 - Official Thread

After seeing that it has to be the monitor. The difference is massive.

Re: XBox 360 - Official Thread

My VGA cable came today so I'm using HD on my LCD 26inch TV and its fucking INCREDIBLE! The graphics look soo much better and every is so nice and sharp its amazing. Didnt expect it to be so different

Re: XBox 360 - Official Thread

But imagine how great it would look if you used the VGA cable on a 42" TV...

Shiiit yeah. Having seen it on HD on my 19" monitor, I cant imagine how nice it is on a 42" HDTV.

Re: XBox 360 - Official Thread

Hey guys, I got a 42" HDTV LCD, could you lend me your Xbox360 please :D

Are DVI and HDMI the same thing? I know PS3 and Sky+ HD are going to use HDMI.
Not exactly the same. HDMI carries video and sound, while DVI only carries video, but has audio cables.
So basically, it doesnt matter which one you have, but make sure the DVI slot is HDCP.

If it has a SCART hole in the back of it then yes you can

Re: XBox 360 - Official Thread

tevez.. I've played it on my small 14" TV and as you would expect with a smaller screen size it looks wonderful. Almost an SD/HD hybrid kind of quality but you lose screen space of course.
