Microsoft Xbox 360

well mine has been freezing randomly... for example when loading fifa, it gets to the ronaldo screen just before the arena, if the ethernet cable is plugged in for xbox live it freezes, if its unplugged it loads and i can play online once i plug cable back in... weird...

now for bigger probs, since standing the console up within a day it crashed with lines going down the screen, and then a green screen, so i thought it was over heating and the gpu was on it's way out

which i think it has now, as today i got an E74 and have had to phone for a repair

so since standing it up i have had the problems, i guess the xbox has worse ventilation stood up?

also my hdmi isn't working, so i hope they send a replacement back and not just mine being fixed

could i tell them the hdmi is faulty to, and that could go hand in hand with the E74 repair, or will they only repair the E74 for free and send the duff hdmi port back with the same board

The best thing to do is having the xbox flat BUT it should have something under it at both sides keeping a space under it, like this:

---------- <- xbox
----------
/\....../\ <- metal thingies that makes a space under the xbox, otherwise the heat will go into the surface and back up in the xbox again.

If you have a setup like this and make sure the air can flow out behind it too, you never have to worry about over heating.

Has anyone thought about sitting their 360 on a laptop cooler? They're powered by USB so the 360 could power it if you only use one controller......
 
xbox 360 has a usb port on the back, mine does anyway which could power a laptop cooler

anyone got a xbox 360 elite receipt that is within 12 month warranty that they can take a pic or scan a pic to me, so i get microsoft to repair my hdmi port while it is away for the E74, there telling me because it is 1 month out of warranty, tough shit and they will only repair the E74 unless i provide proof of purchase via email and they will update warranty info to repair hdmi

anyone?

But don't they monitor warranty according to when the serial number is registered? I think you need both the serial number to be within the date you registered the console and the receipt proving you purchased it.
 
well the manufacturer date was march 08 and they said it was registered in may 08, although not by me, must of been game when they sold it they informed microsoft so they know

but i argued that and said it was wrong, they said provide proof of purchase via email and they will update warranty info..

Pretty smart that, I should consider it, maybe getting some kind of mini USB keyboard, I have the keyboard that fits onto the controller but I find it a right pain to fit on and start typing with just to reply to some message someone sent me.

i have read the xbox 360 is better being flat, as when i put mine vertically i got the E74, but it was on carpet so the heat couldn't escape lol

anyway, the only place i can put it is on the carpet and it has to be stood up, and with the advice given earlier about having something underneath it to allow air flow, i did some searching and came across a stand and cooler

has anyone used it, anyone know if these are good enough of do these hinder/disrupt the natural cooling system of the xbox?

This is my setup. But you can use anything really under it, as long as it is the same height. Probably enough as long as it is one cm above the surface. I just found this scrap around my old man's house.

Edit: Bought MI on the PC. Too bad you can't use the audio on the old graphics.
