Microsoft Xbox 360

You best get a Memory card for your mate to save game saves etc, cause I dont know how you can save data somewhere unless you get one of those datel things that sits between the HDD and the XB, and use it to back up all the stuff before moving things from one HDD to the other, no doubt Placebo will be in here and help you out soon though.

Simplest way would be to backup the partition containing saves/profiles to the PC. Just need to open the drive casing, remove the drive, connect to the PC with the SATA connector, use Xplorer360 to access the HDD and then copy the contents of Partition 3 to the PC (that's the partition that contains the profile and game saves).

Best bet would be to format the 20gb drive (after backing up anything you need), copy Partition 3 from your friend's 120gb drive to the PC, then copy them over to the 20gb drive and try the 20gb drive in the 360 just to make sure the profile and saves are there and working ok, then you can copy your saves to the 120gb drive and start using it.

Just so you know Coopz, if you buy a 120gb drive from the shops (£70 from Blockbuster, don't go to Argos or Currys and get it for £100), you get a transfer cable free in the box. If you buy it off eBay or whatever you'll need to buy the transfer cable seperately off eBay, which is £20+.

Best thing is if you do buy it new you can stick the cable on eBay once you're done with it and claw yourself £20 back. :)

As long as your PC has a SATA connection (which almost all do have these days), you can simply use your PC to transfer and backup your files which is better anyways as with the transfer cable they're cut and pasted (so to speak) when you transfer them.

why cant things be simple

thanks for all the help guys :))

CB i already have a Migration kit anyway ;))

was the latest Xplorer360 made in 2006?

because that all i can find

So all i do is plug my mine and my mates HDD into my PC, use the program to copy partition 3 (or all of em if i want to keep everything?) then format them (can that be done via Xplorer360 or is it best to do it through the 360?) and then transfer the files from the PC to the formatted HDDs

You want "Xplorer 360 Xtreme 2" I think that's the last version: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=VENMRLTM

You have the option of creating a full "backup image" of the HDD, problem is if you create a full image of the 20gb one, and then restore that image to the 120gb HDD you end up with a 20gb HDD, which you don't want.

The best option is to create a full "backup image" of the 20gb HDD which you save on your PC first, then you can mount that image in daemon tools and just copy the partitions from it.

I'd suggest you have a practice yourself, download and install Xplorer, remove your HDD from the enclosure, connect it to your PC, open it in Xplorer, copy the partitions or create an image, just familiarise yourself with the program and the process.

Here's a guide to the directory structure you'll see on the 360 HDD:

Edit: Formatting cannot be done via the Xplorer app so yes you have to do on the Xbox 360.

So in short form:

1. Copy contents of your 20gb HDD to your PC

2. Format your 20gb HDD on the 360

3. Copy contents of your friend's 120gb HDD to your PC

4. Format your friend's 120gb HDD (or you could just copy your stuff over so it has both of your profiles and saves, think that should work, maybe good idea until you know all is secure?)

5. Copy your friend's saves to your old 20gb HDD

6. Test both HDD's in the 360.

Guys I need some help. Today I played Dead Space and suddenly my screen became tinted green. I'm using a VGA cable and have never had this problem before. I tried 2 VGA cables, same result. When I reboot, the colour is fine, then as soon as I start Dead Space, it becomes tinted again. Anyone know what this means?

If you both have launch machines, you should of sold them on a while ago, or traded them in, I got 2 years out of my launch machine and got shot before I was destined for problems. :(

It dont matter, trading in for a newer model gave you a new 3 year warranty against RROD.

All launch machines will die, whether it's RROD or not, ship it along and play the game.

Just go trade it in as a Core against a new Core thus keeping your HDD, I traded my old Premium for an Elite when they launched, but I knew the manager of the store and he gave me the lend of a transfer cable to get my games saves over.

# When NXE launches Xbox Live Marketplace will be accessible via PC, so you can set content do be downloaded onto your 360 remotely away from home.

I just read this, can anyone confirm this?
