Microsoft Xbox 360

Are there any Elite type games in the works for the 360? I.E. Space exploration and combat and trading and all that gubbins? Playing Mass Effect and visiting "strange new worlds where no man has gone before" has left me wanting more :) I know there are a couple of space strategy combat games but that's not my bag, something like Elite or X-Beyond The Frontier and the likes? :)

After reading something like 100 reviews, only 1 of them with anything bad to say (which is incredible really, usually you can find tons of bad reviews of anything on the internet), I've took the plunge and ordered the Logitech Z-5500 5.1 surround system for the 360. £200 with next-day delivery from Amazon.co.uk, I must be bonkers. But hopefully I'll sell the Wii soon and that will make up for it.

I'll let you guys know if it rox my sox.

And knowing you you'll hate it.;)

There will be random bannings and court appearances if I do. For £200 I want a bar of gold free.

Who's Winning The Console War In The US?

One batch of numbers we didn't touch on from yesterday's NPD sales data figures were the 2007 year-to-date and lifetime-to-date console sales in the US. The figures reveal some enlightening, and for some, distressing, details about the current winners and losers in the US console war. For example, the Nintendo DS, which walked away with the #1 spot in '07, sold a total of 8.5 million units in the US last year, over twice that of the PSP and essentially doubling it's lifetime install base.

The rest of the annual sales are below.

2007 Total Hardware Sales

Nintendo DS - 8,500,000
Wii - 6,290,000
Xbox 360 - 4,620,000
PlayStation 2 - 3,970,000
PSP - 3,820,000
PlayStation 3 - 2,560,000

But who's currently reigning supreme in totals?

The PlayStation 2, of course, which won't be touched by any of its current generation competitors any time soon. The Wii, on the other hand, could easily overtake the install bases of both the Xbox 360 and PSP in a matter of months, if trends continue. That is dependent upon Nintendo meeting demand, naturally.

Here's how the market looks as of December 2007.

Lifetime-To-Date Total Hardware Sales

PlayStation 2 - 41,120,000
Nintendo DS - 17,650,000
PSP - 10,470,000
Xbox 360 - 9,150,000
Wii - 7,380,000
PlayStation 3 - 3,250,000

Maybe someone can answer if people are done talking about which shite speakers for Jack to buy? ;)

What reference levels setting do you HD guys use in the display settings? I had it on the middle setting before because I though the highest (Expanded) would be too much but I just bumped it up and it looks amazing. The colours are vibrant and the contrast is great

What router are you guys using that works on BT? This Belkin one we have currently is a load of shit, I've done some Googling and it seems I'm not the only one who has problems with XBox Live with it.

Not sure how willing my parents will be to sell it considering they paid £100 for it in October but I'll be pissed off if I have to keep putting up with connection issues because of a shitty router :(

Mate get the small white Netgear router (dunno the model type). It's cheap, real nice-looking and the best I have ever used. We give them to everyone where I work because they are so good.

I use them all the time in work - fantastic bits of kit. I personally have a Linksys router which is very ugly but has always worked like a dream for me so touchwood, no problems yet.

I've got the BT station thingy router and its really good - it makes my NAT strict every now and again. But I just need to turn it off and on. Other than that I really like it.

I had that netgear one to, When I was on AOL and it was really good aswell - I have given it to my parents and they have had no problems with it. The netgear support are really good.

I use that as well.
Its the Netgear DG834G
It doesn't support 802.11n but who cares... nothing really uses it.
It does the normal g/b :)

Does it work with BT?

Edit: Nevermind, spoke to my parents and they're not willing to change their router anyway. So I guess I'm stuck with this crap router and not being able to get on XBox Live :(
