Microsoft Xbox 360

I use TVout at 1920x1080, looks quite nice :)

You must have an expensive TV that can handle VGA at that resolution! I thought most TV's could handle a max of 1366x1024 or something. If I try to use that res, my picture looks awful.

I had to pay Microsoft £59.99 to sort my ring of red lights out, im not best pleased with them.

Apparently I ran out of warranity after 3 years and 1 day and 3 hours.

My PS3 has caused me no problems yet, touch wood.

However I am missing my Xbox Live :(

WOW! Xbox360 has been out for 3 years already?!

It launched in the UK on December the 2nd 2005, so someone cant count mate, unless you got a really early pre release machine. ;)

XviD is shit on the 360. Blurry as hell and full screen cuts off the edges of the picture. I'll be sticking with my PC.

Not interested unless they program achievements into them. Unless they add something not already in the compatibility list, such as the Oddworld series.

Anyone else getting freezing when using the XBox Guide? When people sign on and I go through my friends list, it seems to show everyone as 0 points until it takes ages to update itself. Had the guide stick on me a lot since the update too.

Achievements have literally changed the way I think about gaming. It's unbelievable, honestly, like some kind of drug. Before I got a 360 I was regularly calling my nephew a sad bastard for trying to get as many achievements as possible. As soon as I got a 360 I wasn't interested in games on any other console because you don't "get" anything for completing them.

It's really screwed my gaming up, I'm not interested in the PS3, the Wii or the DS because I know if I spend an hour on them, it's going to be "wasted" because I'm not getting gamerpoints in that time.

I don't know why it's made me this way but it has.

Totally agree Jack - adds a whole new dimension to wanting to actually keep playing the games. For me, its one of the best reasons for owning a 360.

Be interesting to see what Sony do with the 'Home Trophies' next year...

I dont get the achievements, already discussed this before, but its not like you get ms bonus points or anything like that, just a number next to your tag.

Just read that for silver users, ie me, demo's and stuff like that will have a weeks waiting period before we can download them. That sucks imo. Now ill have to hear all you lot go on about a game for a week before I can even play it! Its one of the reasons I got the hdd. Although atm there has hardly been any new demos out for the top games.

I dont do it to say - 'look at my score', its more a personal thing to give the game more life. My score is actually quite low (2000s)!

Just get a Gold account then TikTik :)

Yea, less than £30 on Ebay and you get the code emailed. Well worth it IMO...

People thought the PSN would be better as it was free, but the service is cack on there and after experiencing it myself, I'd rather pay the relatively small for a better experience.

I haven't played on the PS3 and don't know much about their online (apart from stuff I hear on here).

But 39.99 for a years Gold subscription isn't much. thats about 77p a week.

Well worth it if you ask me. Although they should do more about their servers fucking up.

Nice! No way you'd get a 32" 1080p here for that price, 1080p here is far too expensive.

I need some help/advice here everyone! I'm having loads of problems connecting to people on COD4 and Rainbow Six Vegas, failed to connect to player. Sometimes it works, more often it doesn't. I can seek random games and connect to those but when I try to connect to friend invites, I get errors. My NAT is open, firewall disabled and UPNP enabled. Any other tips?

Well it's not supposed to be full HD, it's only supposed to be HD ready but the panel itself is LG so it's much higher quality than you'd expect for the price (and name), 360 runs sweet at 1080P but there's a slight bug where every now and then the image drops out for half a second, but 99.9% of the time it's only on a static screen such as newspaper headlines after being knocked out of a cup and such, for the price I'm happy, it's only meant to be our backup TV in the corner of the bedroom as we're getting a 42" Full HD Samsung for the bedroom wall (they're about £780 here with free 5.1 sound system and free 20" CRT).

Interesting comment on Major Nelson's blog:

"Do not download these games until Microsoft fixes their DRM. If your 360 dies, you will have no access to this content if you are not logged in Live with your purchasing Gamertag. Nor will other Gamertags on your console have access to this content unless you grab a second controller and sign in your Gamertag."
