Microsoft Xbox 360

Probably get the first one and try it out - I'm usually shit at these games - where you give orders and shit and control a team. I get really into them and then when the harder levels come, I get impatient and start throwing controllers and stuff around the room.

But I might spend some time and effort and try. I really want to be good at these games.

Its funny in my younger years I was very patient - as I get older I need instant results (It should be the other way round shouldn't it?) maybe its because I don't get too much time to play games now - who knows.

Anyway if I can get the first one for £5 then its worth a go.

Cheers.

Yeah, I'm not the best at those games, but I just hooked on this, completed it 3 times  First game I've done that with (bar PES)

Xbox 360 HD DVD getting Euro price cut
cuthddvdcutitnow.jpg

According to eFluxMedia, Microsoft announced a price drop on their HD DVD add-on for the Xbox 360 in the European market. It will drop from €200 to €180 -- which if you want to do the conversion would be around $244, the HD DVD drive retails in the States for $179.

According to reports last month, Blu-ray has been outselling HD DVD formatted discs in the States 2-to-1 in the first half of the '07. Manfred Gerdes, chief of Sony Germany, said to eFluxMedia that PS3 sales have totalled 2 million there, double the number of stand-alone Blu-ray movie players. The bundle of Blu-ray with PS3 is said to have helped create this widening HD DVD vs. Blu-ray gap. At least movie buffs get something out of the deal -- now about those games.

Just had a message from "Xbox Live" saying it will be down for a few hours from 10th September, 9am (GMT).

EDIT: What that news link in the above post says then. D'OH!

got my messenger kit today, love the cute little keyboard. :) now i just need to start using games and programs that actually need it, lol.

Yet more good news for the HD-DVD format, they're turning things around aren't they.

I'll go through this thread and add people to XBL tonight, my GT is DagsJT so you know who is asking :)

Hello chaps, i haven't as yet purchased a next gen console. I was hoping someone could help me out with regards to the 360 in relation to Pro Evo, for example.
Am i correct in thinking you can save the game/Option files direct to the hard drive? ie you don't need a memory card?
Also, how would you go about getting an option file from my PC onto the 360 (assuming the 360 isn't online). On my PS2 i always used the little usb thingy.
Despite the chunky controller and horror stories of consoles breaking down, i have actually been considering the 360, purely because of price. the PS3 is ridiculously expensive at the moment. I don't need a huge hard drive, i don't need a blu ray player (i have a dvd player thanks) and i'm really not interested about going online either.
Anyway, if someone is able to answer my pretty simple questions, i'm sure, it would be appreciated, ta :)

Yep.

XSATA, see HERE (might not work with PES2008 though, it depends on how the option file is protected - I'd wait until a few days after release before buying one).

Thanks JB :)

Does the 360 have a usb socket? Would i not be able to plug a card reader into it (with a card which has an option file on it) and transfer it to the 360s hard drive?

Microsoft is rapidly losing its year long head start to Nintendo and Sony
>> From roughlydrafted.com:
Nintendo's Wii, while nearly impossible to find in retail stores, sold slightly above the company's second quarter June 2007 goal of 9 million units, reaching sales of 9,270,000.
Sony's PlayStation 3 also edged slightly above its 6 million goal for Q2 by shipping 6,210,000 units to stores. There is still significant inventory left unsold in stores, which prompted Sony to cut the PS3's price in July by $100, to $499 and $599 for the two PS3 models.
Microsoft had originally set a target of 15 million Xbox 360s by the middle of 2007, but dropped that target down to 12 million. Even with lowered expectations, the company was still unable to meet its goal, having only shipped 11,600,000 units by the end of June.
For the first half of 2007, while Nintendo sold 6 million units a quarter and Sony shipped 2 million per quarter, Microsoft was only about to push out 600,000 units a quarter, in large part because the retail channel is already full of unsold Xbox 360s.

When looking at actual worldwide sales reported by manufacturers, 360 unit sales are flattening out dramatically.
Microsoft has now had two quarters of sales well behind last year's sales.
In its second year, the Xbox 360 is slipping behind every quarter in year over year sales, and not by a little. This years' Xbox 360 sales are less than half those of 2006's.
While Windows Enthusiasts like to deride PS3 sales as low, Sony's relatively high priced console is selling at identical levels to Microsoft's 360 figures from last year after its initial stumble out of the gate.
In other words, the PS3 is matching the Xbox 360's first year sales while 360 itself isn't, allowing Sony to incrementally catch up while Microsoft languishes with static sales.
In just half a year, Sony is at half of Microsoft's sales, despite the Xbox 360 having been on sale for over a year and a half. Nintendo's Wii, however, is taking off in a way that leaves both of the HD consoles behind. It appears poised to pass total sales of the 360 next month at the end of the third quarter.

Stats and numbers can be used to prove anything right or wrong, 99% of people know that :D

maybe you guys can help me somehow...

i forgot my live id / xbox live account pw...so i tried to reset it via the microsoft homepage, everything worked well so far, but i am not getting a reset-mail to my yahoo account? nothing happens?! :( i can't log on to msn via xbox live this way...god damn :( any idea what's going on?

Yahoo blocking the email maybe? Or, it may just be the case that it will take a few hours, possibly a day. Whenever I email one mate's Hotmail account from Gmail it takes 24 hours to get through. :|

I'd wait and see if you have a reset email in the morning, and if not, perhaps there's a German Xbox Live technical support number you could call? Then you could do it over the phone.

i mailed them now and if nothing happens i might call tomorrow.
i tried this allready 5 months ago with no mail arriving til today so i guess i should keep my expectations low ;)
no idea if yahoo block the mail maybe, i have no filters whatsoever activated.

seriously this sucks! i just want to add my now 5 years old msn account to my live profile, but i actually couldn't even create a new one without the stupid password!

no idea why i haven't enabled saving it on the console.

okay, i found the problem.

i accidently entered my mail address as weopm@yahoo.com into my live account - instead of @yahoo.de as it is supposed to be. now the mails do not arrive - the funny part is i can not register weopm@yahoo.com as it is the same id and can't be registered twice with different endings.

fucked up! any way to change my live account mail address?

Just redeemed a XBL 12 month code through my PC on the xbox.com website, it's gone through fine and the website shows I now have Gold access, yet my 360 hasn't changed and it's still saying Silver. Been like this for 15 mins now, how long should it take?

Still not having it, bloody Microsoft. My account management on the 360 does show I've got the Gold 12 month subscription but it just shows Silver and trying to play a game online states my account is limited due to only having Silver. Very annoying!

Still showing as Silver after 40 minutes. Surely when I sign out and sign back in, it logs onto the system which would show I have Gold access? Sent MS an email asking them to explain what the problem is when one system shows I have it, but another shows I don't. Ridiculous really.

Edit: Just received the email confirmation saying it's been activated ... yet still Silver on my 360. Lesson learnt, never use the website to enter codes as it's quicker. It is quicker, but shitter in the long run.
