Microsoft Xbox 360

Any games worth picking up off XBLA?

You can try them all though, which is very cool, plenty I have tried and thought, nah, bobbins. Like StreetFighter II.

Must DL Pacman CE. Got the demo versions of PuzzleFighter and Streets of Rage II last night, SOR II is only 400 points, but it really is just the MegaDrive version, no touching up, no widescreen no HD :( Though the sound effect you get from cracking people over the head with the pipe cant be beat.

my brother was given a number by a friend in Dixons the other day.

He bought a 360 on launch with the 3 year extended warranty.

The guy in Dixons said to phone M$ - tell them your 360 was broken.

Instead of arranging a repair/replacement they took the serial number and the warranty number and offered them a voucher to the price of a Xbox 360 elite (minus the 120 gig HD) AND a second voucher in place of the 3 yr warranty which would pay for the 120 gig HD.

2-3 days later t arrived in the post and today he picked up his 360 elite!

-

I'll get the number from him tomorrow if he still has it but i assume its the usual 360 repair/replacement number.

But you have to have bought the extra 3 yr warranty which is now useless as its 3 yrs anyway.

I just bought an xbox elite and am all up and connected wirelessly. I'm excited - my first next gen console.

I have been a Playstation 2 man, so getting used to the controller and stuff.

I got excited by the new fifa so I spent over £400 quid on an xbox and bits and bobs.

I might go and download golden axe - I used to love that god damn game!! brilliant - i've just spent £400 to play golden axe and Sensible soccer (When it comes out) Yee Ha!!

Enjoy it dude!

There are a LOT of classic titles which you can buy very cheap now.
I would reccomend GR:AW, Perfect Dark Zero and Gears of War.

All FPSs :p

:) welcome to the world of 360... hope your console lasts longer than those unfortunate people who have had lots of issues within a short space of time. Also good choice on buying the Elite, its excellent! especially with the HDMI connectivity which makes a difference quality wise.

I sold my Core 360 + Hard Drive (20GB) to my house mate who was PS3 mad.... since then I have seen him play PGR3 non stop :) He went from not liking the 360 at all to loving it!

Think I'm gonna get Gears of War and bioshock first of all.

I have never played games over the internet before so that will be good. Alot of my friends are all grown up now and don't play computer games anymore - so It will be good to play games especially footy games against real people - I can't wait. I'm fed up with playing the computer all the time!

Not sure about the headset and talking to strangers over the net - not because they might groom me - but it just might be a bit wierd. I might just get that keyboard thing that you attach to the controller to comunicate to other people.

What are peoples experience of using the headset? - do you think it is a must? is it wierd talking to strange people?

My wife thinks I am a bit sad but She was very supportive in me spending the money on the xbox - suprisingly.

Let me know,

Cheers.

also in some games such as R6V you need to talk because if you dont you will get hammered :)

EU360s.jpg

Europe, don't worry. You weren't forgotten about when Microsoft announced their American release dates for the 360's new accessories range. They were just working out how much later you'd see them. Answer being: September 7. And 26. See, the IM chatpad will be released on the 7th, for £24.99. But the rest of the stuff? Being held back for the Halo 3 release. The Halo 3 wireless headset and themed controllers go on sale on September 26, the same day as the game's release, and will both go for £34.99. Press release is after the click if you're dying to hear the official word.

LONDON - 31st August 2007 - Xbox 360 fanatics are invited to accessorize with Microsoft's new Xbox 360 Limited Edition Halo 3 Wireless Controllers and Headset available in Europe from 26th September, and the Xbox 360 Messenger Kit, available from 7th September across the region.

As "Halo 3" launches across Europe on 26th September, two new high-quality Xbox 360 Limited Edition Halo 3 Wireless Controllers will also be available. Legendary comic book artist and "Spawn" creator, Todd McFarlane, has masterfully designed these controllers featuring both the Covenant Brute and Master Chief™ themes. Both fade and scratch-resistant controllers come with a Limited Edition "Halo 3" Master Chief™ figurine designed by McFarlane himself for an estimated retail price of £34.99.

The Spartan green and gold Xbox 360 Limited Edition Halo 3 Wireless Headset provides the mobility and communication essential for soldiers in their fight against the Covenant. With high-quality voice connections over Xbox LIVE, this accessory will be available for an estimated retail price of £34.99.

The Xbox 360 Messenger Kit, which includes a Chatpad and Xbox 360 headset for an estimated retail price of £24.99, allows users to easily chat with friends or family on Xbox LIVE and Windows-based PCs. The automatically backlit Chatpad quickly connects to any Xbox 360 controller and can be easily controlled with simple thumb strokes so users can simultaneously chat and play games with ease.

If I had that chatpad thingy could I communicate with people in game with this?

I know games like rainbow six you will have to use the headset for quick communication.

But for footy games I just want to be able to say how you doin and the odd wind up about how good my goal was.

my main thing is hooking up to a game and then have a 10 year old giving me jip in my ear. I have a relatively short fuse and I don't want to upset any young'uns.

are there places where you can go and play with gamers of around your age group?

i will probably hook up with people from this forum as you seem to be decent chaps. Hopefully when I get good at the new Fifa and PES, I will give some of you a game.

Or I might convince my friends to start liking games again.

I have one friend that has an Xbox - but he isn't connected to live and I can't be arsed going to Barnet everytime to play him. i hate bloody Barnet!!

He has a new Australian bird aswell and I hardley see him. Bloody Women - they are like fly spray if Mens bonding was a fly. Same happened with me and the Wife.

Anyway I digress, I just need some computer playing friends.

I hate the headset myself, if you're playing with mates or a group of decent gamers that you know it's great, but your mates/clan usually only play the same one or two games. So 90% of the time, it's ten year olds saying "I killed you n****r, you're just a n****r, n****r n****r n****r". The only people on my friend list who actually use the mic regularly are my two young nephews and one mentally challenged person who only seems to play games for a "fight".

If I had that chatpad thingy could I communicate with people in game with this?
No. You can send a message but it's not in-game, it's like a little email that they have to pause the game to read.

You could send a message at the end of each game, if that's all you wanted to do.

With the 360 you set which "group" you want to be a part of, family, recreation, pro or underground. The kids are supposed to be in the family group, but obviously, if you're a kid you don't want to be in the kids group (and the kids usually know more about the 360 than mum and dad). Recreation is probably the group with the least kids because they have no idea what "recreation" means. Underground has the most, I think.

If you don't mind a depressing scouse gamer then feel free to add me. :)

Thanks for the info Jack - I will probably add you when the time comes to play the new Fifa. and maybe Sensi when it comes out.

Thanks again.

Well it really depends who you get on the other end!
Sometimes you meet some "nice" people  Like I was playing Top Spin 2 online, and I met some dude from Holland, and we went off talking about the world cup etc. lol

If you find the person annoying, just take the headset off.

And you get a headset with the 360? Or are you saying the wireless headset?

I got a headset with the Elite so I might try it out - not sure if it is wireless I haven't checked it out properly yet.

Might try it some time - It might be quit nice to meet a guy from holland and talk about the world cup.

Just played my first online game of Uefa champions league and won 1-0. very enjoyable.

Yeah you get a wired headset that you attach to the controller.

And check out GR:AW for offline play!!! It's the first game I was amazed by.

Just read some reviews and it sounds pretty good - I see number 2 is out aswell.

"Warfighter" makes me laugh.

It reminds me of 'Extras' with Ross Kemp when he says that he has been in the SAS and he says it stands for "Super Army Soldier" Hilarious!

Warfighter? you mean a Soldier. Americans are funny - It does sound alot better than Soldier though.

Lady: What do you do?

Soldier: I'm a Warfighter in the British Army

Lady: Really!! I've never met a Warfighter before, that sounds Dangerous.

Soldier: It is. Next week I have to put my pyjamas on and dive to the bottom of a swimming pool and collect a brick - then I become an Advanced Warfighter!

Lady: Can I have sex with you now please?!

I want to be a Warfighter and have sex with ladies - I'm buying this bloody game!

Nah, GRAW 1 is still an excellent game in its own right, and can be picked up from eBay for not much more than £5.

Probably get the first one and try it out - I'm usually shit at these games - where you give orders and shit and control a team. I get really into them and then when the harder levels come, I get impatient and start throwing controllers and stuff around the room.

But I might spend some time and effort and try. I really want to be good at these games.

Its funny in my younger years I was very patient - as I get older I need instant results (It should be the other way round shouldn't it?) maybe its because I don't get too much time to play games now - who knows.

Anyway if I can get the first one for £5 then its worth a go.

Cheers.

Yep. At least it does for me - I have an old USB keyboard and I can type in-game (not as in messaging, as in typing your character name or typing your high-score name etc.)

Been a while since I've done it though, could be game-dependent.
