Microsoft Xbox 360

Re: Microsoft XBox 360 : UK Price Drop

Apparently ALL Xbox 360s will have HDMI come next March, so I'm gonna brick my 360 to make it red light, send it to MS, and get a new Premium with HDMI

How do you brick it? ;):8):

Re: Microsoft XBox 360 : UK Price Drop

I'll find out, there's websites and forums about bricking consoles.

Wonder if MS are reading this, they can get my details and refuse to fix it...

Re: Microsoft XBox 360 : UK Price Drop

The vast majority of people I spoke to have had Refurbs... not impressed.

Anywayz when I bought my Elite (CW's Definition of me wasting money :)) I told the gal behind the counter that I was still on my 1st Core 360 back home, she was very very shocked at that statement and said im the 5th person to say that.... only the 5th in how many hundreds and thousands of people? thats pretty shocking and made me think about the extent of Dodgy 360's... Hope my Elite lasts as long as the Core one has done and beyond!

Re: Microsoft XBox 360 : UK Price Drop

they say elite has the 3rl problem solved...i wouldnt belive it though...i would say its just more reliable..but not 100% 3rlless.

Re: Microsoft XBox 360 : UK Price Drop

The failure rate has been a lot less with the Elite I know that much thus far but yes its far from perfect... unless they have hired better Solderers!

Friend of mine was sent a refurb that lasted one whole day, phenomenal, he got a free controller for his hassle, yes that makes it worthwhile not having the console you paid for for over 5 weeks.....

Hey, fanboys. You talk too much. You're over-reliant on words, and this being the internet, a word-based community/medium, you're cluttering up the place. What you need is a picture, one that can summarise 17 thread pages worth of round-n-round wrangling in a single snap-shot. A picture like this, handily provided by Gamasutra. They've taken the latest NPD figures, compared them to a whole bunch of previous NPD figures, and have charted the lifetime American sales of the Wii, 360 and PS3. So enjoy, and rest easy in the knowledge this just saved you a thousand words.
NPD For July 2007: The Gamasutra Analysis [Gamasutra]

That is sales since launch. The Wii is way ahead of MS on that curve from a launch perspective. If the 360 stopped selling today, at current rate of sales it would take 1.5 years for the PS3 to catch up.

DJ, cant believe I am the first to ask this, but is the Elite quieter?

Yer it is noticeably quiter than my old Jet Fighter Core System :) i think its because it uses the new BenQ DVD Drive.

Edit: Holio, I think this was asked earlier on when one of the other members got an Elite :)

Cheers, couldnt remember, and I know its the drive that makes the noise and not the fans, but wasnt sure if they had made them a little less quieter than the Jet Turbine, thinking a trade could well be on now.

Also as I said previously there is a quality difference when using HDMI over VGA, it looks cleaner and more richer plus games seem to move smoother.

Woo Hoo! Guess who just got a new Xbox 360?

3 months after I sold my previous one to fund my Ps3! Doh!

Now I have both and take you all on PES2008 when its out!! hihi!

You might want to wait Nick.

Xbox 360 Repairs Slow to Crawl

Rumor has it that a spike in Xbox 360 returns, both valid and not so much, have lead to an increase in the return time for repaired Xbox 360s.

I've heard that the turnaround time for Xbox 360 repairs has skyrocketed to as long as six weeks and if you do the math, that could mean that some loyal 360 fans may be console-less when the Halo 3 launches. Talk about bad juju.

Thats America which used to be around a week.
The UK from what i hear on here already had a wait of weeks
So many ppl bricking their consoles to get the new upgraded refurbs.

Gonna try hangin on til Feb, Bioshock's already scuffed and I need to pay £1.50 to get it resurfaced.

JUst one more question about HDMI.

I have a new Samsung TV, when I want to play my Xbox 360 I have to press "EXT" on my remote twice to get to the "Componant" channel.

When using HDMI, do you have to do something like this? Are they set as "EXT1" channel and "EXT2" channel like scarts, or does the TV just automatically put your 360 on as soon as you turn it on?

HDMI will probably use EXT5 (which is what my PS3 is connected to on my HDTV through HDMI), so you would need to change.

Depends on the TV if it auto-detects it or not :)

Damn I won't be a happy bunny if it doesn't auto-detect HDMI. It'll auto-detect SCART.

It's the latest 32" Samsung, only been out in the country since May this year.
