Couldn't find a thread with my searching skills, so apologies if one is already doing the rounds.

Anyway, this looks bloody good. I gave the first one a miss due to a few negative reviews and comments I'd picked up, but I have to say the sequel is looking like it could do some damage. The second part of this cinematic trailer looks like it's been lifted from a movie :

I finished Mass Effect yesterday, just in time.
What a game that was, I can't wait for the 2nd.
From the trailers I've seen the differences between the 2 games seems huge.
Maybe this time all side missions buildings/caves will not all look the same :).

Won't bother with this. Finished the first one, didn't bother with all the sidemissions as I see no point in going to the exact same planet with the exact same storageunit over and over and over and over and over.......

The main story was ok, but I couldn't care less about some space drama and the action wasn't especially good either so it all got a bit boring.
Strangely enough, when I thought the main story was finally getting going, with me actually thinking I was still early in the game of this "massive" RPG........ it finished. Felt more like a collect'um-up than anything else.

My thoughts exactly.

I'll keep an eye on this. I got the first one based on the reviews and some positive things I heard at the time.

Traded it in about 14 months later with it still wrapped in it's shiny outer plastic, haha.

About reviews, and sorry for the Off topic, I have bought a few games based on reviews and I was very satisfied. User reviews only though. I use gamespot for that.

I agree with some that the first game was a little simple in terms of story and continuity. But I thought it was a good effort, but really was too short. Its as if Mass Effect is a KOTOR lite.

I started as a soldier; war hero. I made my character look like Stone Cold, too (bald head, goatie et al  )

Really enjoying it. Put in about 6 hours so far. Recruited a few guys and gone about my way helping folk out and hacking stuff. I can see already that this is going to be a huge game. I really need to read the manual though, as I just jumped straight in having not played the first, and I'm still relatively new to the RB shoulder button giving ammo options and extra powers, so I need to research how to use that more effectively.

Great stuff, thus far.

About 6/7 hours in and really enjoying it too. I chose the class where I can turn invisible for a few seconds but I either keep forgetting to use it, or don't really see a need to use it.

Considered starting again as an adept but I'm too far into it now and can't be bothered now :)

Might finish it, then start again as an evil character :D

I've played 12 hours and barely started the main story (I think, or it's very short).

I'm playing on Normal difficulty and I die a lot, especially against bosses. It's a lot harder than ME1 that I finished on Insane (with a level 60 character though).
Cover is the key but as a vanguard I tend to take risks but I end up being flamethrowered...

I really like it, it's a beautiful game. It's a big improvement, the main story may be short but there's a huge number of various side missions (yes it's not like ME1 !!!).

I also enjoy scanning planets to find ressources. It relaxes me :).
There's a lot of reference to ME1 characters too, even small ones, that's great.

Yesterday I had to make my 1st big decision. It's just amazing how crucial it is. It changes my whole game :WORSHIP:.

I've not even tickled the surface in regards to scanning planets yet. I've orbitted one and that's it, so I've got a hell of a lot to learn and pick up.

I did zip my ship around on the map though, and realised I was using fuel up!

Playing the PC version and enjoying a lot! Even for a not so good PC the game runs very well and with good graphics. I´m playing on hard and the game is really challenging, and there are still 2 more difficult settings!

Fom what i played so far, it really deserves the great review scores!

I just hope it´s not so short as the first one was.

I never completed ME1, so ME2 arrives today, you deed to have completed ME1 to import the character, so figure I should finish ME1, try to install it and the DVD is scratched and fails installing at 0% :(

So I'm currently installing ME1 from a backup disk on my banned 360 to the HDD of my good 360, hoping that the original ME1 disk will be good enough to get past the point of starting the game up and then running it off the HDD, time will tell.........

You can play it witout having played the first one Paul...(but all the reviews agree that it's better if you import your save file from the first...).

I'm hesitating to buy this one and the Red Dead Redemption...usually i only buy sports games or racing games...but now i'm watching the complete Battlestar Galactica and i'm in a SF mood...

At the same time i'm reading Blood Meridian which makes me wanna play Red Dead Redemption...

Should i buy Mass Effect 2 as a complete novice to those kind of games ? (i'm a lousy gamer to be honest)

If you like sci-fi, you'd be crazy not to get this. You can always play on the easiest difficulty level and enjoy the story and cut-scenes as well :)

I used the code to unlock the free DLC, wife just started playing and it won't let her use the code, it's the same fucking console! Cheap petty fuckers, really pisses me off when companies do this crap, they really think we'll pay 1200MS points for the free DLC on a second profile? Tossers.

Great game, epic ending, solid crew. I can't complain, this is a great SF experience.

The main story is ridiculously short, but it's EPIC ! And there's really a lot to do with side missions.

IMO, ME1 decisions were not that crucial (or just left aside for ME3 I hope), but it was a reel pleasure to follow the story over 2 games and meet again characters from ME 1 (important or not).

This is just an appetizer, and I can't wait for Mass Effect 3.

Totally agree with tuta above. Great game overall, everything you want in an action RPG/Sci-Fi game. Great story, soundtrack and atmosphere to boot.

Was totally worth the wait, but now we'll have to hold tight for the third and final Mass Effect game. Cannot wait!

Fucking shitty checkpoint system!

Just trying to help Samara find the killer, spent a good 10-15 mins working my way through the base and died at the gunship, and it takes me right the way fucking back to having to question the detective for permission to enter the crime scene!

:CURSE:

Pile of fucking shit and got to waste my time doing stuff I've already done! What's the point in the flashing "Saving game" if it doesn't actually take you back to that point if you die?!

That should be a bug since it never happened to me. But make sure to check if the save option is available each time you end a gunfight. And save manually often.
