Manchester United Thread

Just wanted to prove a point that you would react how you did, I was spot on!

And it was quiet clear Van Der Saar was to blame, what is this new "Punch out" technique?

You really are quite a retarded fellow Snoop Dawg. It's quite not quiet

Back on-topic, you guys make me laugh. So quick to jump on the "OMFG <insert United player name here> is shit!" Next week he'll be amazing again. The title is still very much on. Chelsea have West Ham away next (which won't be easy), Arsenal away (that might be a walk-in-the-park ;)), Bolton etc to come so chill. Who is to say we won't beat them at the Bridge?

I am quietly confident.

But if someone IS shit one week and great the next, are we supposed to ignore the shit week he had?
Whether you want to admit it or not, VDS had a shit game. He very easily could have let in a few more. Sure he made some great saves but he also made some school boy errors which cant be ignored.

I'm not worried about the individual performances, its the strategy that bothered me. We need to go back to what we did at the start of the season where we would sit back a bit and then suddenly attack with full power just before the break. Now we try to win the game in the first few minutes. Its better if we sit back a little, soak up the pressure and see what their team is trying to do. Once we've figured them out, attack with everything we have.
This probably explains why we won our first few games, and then when teams started to fear us, we were able to really hammer them and win 4-0, 4-1, 3-0, etc.
We're reaching the end of the season and teams arent gonna let us get away with that now so we need to start taking it easy again, not try to win the game in the first few minutes.

Poor communication between VDS and Rio on that second goal. The first goal was similar to the one we concede to Roma. Its been a poor week for VDS,maybe he needs a rest.Tomasz Kuzzy should be given a runout,at least a couple of matches.

Cant even blame Rio, VDS had another rush of blood. Looking forward to next season hopefully Foster can give him some real competition

did you see him against boro?

he was flapping about in the air, coming out to claim balls and completely missing. he is a good shot stopper, but needs work on other areas.

i wouldn't put him in the team, especially at this stage of the season.

Quite true. :( I seem to recall that too but I still think VDS needs a break. He has been our spine for this season but it seems that age is slowly catching up on him and at the wrong time too.Sir Alex is keen to bring Ben Foster back to United next season to challenge VDS for the number one spot.Tomasz Kuzczak would then be loaned out I guess.Funny enough, lookin back at the Rio own goal, its very rare to see VDS to suddenly rush out like that.

I think we should stick with Kuzczak for the FA Cup and see how he does. If things go well, give him a few league games to play. VDS will have to play all the CL games with his experience and ability to pull off wonder saves though.

yeah, i think next season is the right time to bring them in. just not now. we need that experience and he did pull off a couple of brilliant saves. i think he needs to review his last 2 games and those parries.. he made 3 of them, 1 against roma and 2 against pompey.

we need evra and vidic, neville back more then we need saha back....
rio is the only regular playing in the back 4... am i the only one who notices this?

Pompey contrive to beat leaders Manchester United then lose to bottom club Watford in the space of three days. Funny old game eh?

thats pisses me off.

We kinda noticed that and moved on. ;)

nah you didnt, your all complaining about VDS, and not remembering the fact that he has three new defenders in front of him.... has alot to do with his play of late, same thing happend to timmy howard two seasons ago.... your all also forgetting that VDS made a sick sick sick save against pompey.. could have been 3-0

Well Mr Saunders, thats a job of a Goalkeeper for you. They are always in between heaven and hell.He can have a piss poor 90 minutes, pulls off a dramatic save in the last minute to keep his team in the driving seat or otherwise.More remembered for their mistakes than their saves. The thing with Edwin Van Der Sar is,everybody knows he is a World Class Goalkeeper with vast International and Club experience when he joined us.There were small pockets of doubters of his ability.I bet they are laughing now.We all expect VDS to be experienced enough to handle loose shots like against Roma and Pompey. He did not and thats why you see us slanting him off here.

Its funny you say that when it was Rio, the one defender that remains from our strongest back 4 that scored that own goal...

well, emember what Fergie said ages ago about teams just trying their hardest against United and then not bothering against other teams (was that what Keegan got so worked up about, with the "I'd love it!" speech?)

It appears that still rings true nowadays, beat us 2-1 then lost 4-1 to Watford!? Fuck Off Porstmouth

it gets funnier, that goal was browns responsibility too, he gave up on the play cause he thought Rio had it.... mis-communication, probably because of lack of playing time together, back to my original thoughts about injuries, actually its not funny, injuries suck

Haha, Im sorry but I dont care if I make a mistake when posting on a forum, as you say, "I have a life".

Thats really petty and immature of you to make fun of my gramatical error, but I wouldnt expect anything else really!

Ah well, I did want Man Utd to win it a few months back now theyre fucking up I'd like to see Chelsea pip them.

I've only been that high up once and it was a shit view. At the time they were playing Keane, Beckham, Silvestre, Veron and Brown. They all had bald heads and it was difficult to tell who was who. It was a bastard climbing those stairs as well. Give me the old Stretford End paddock anyday.

Been on the top tier of the north stand once against Panathinaikos i think it was in the CL.

Stretford ender myself, and i cant wait till tomorrow, my scarf is coming out of retirement for this one and with any luck i wont be able to talk for 3 days after.

well, I'm in with the Prawn Sandwich munchers tomorrow, gotta wear a suit, and have a four course meal (such a pain I know), doubt I'd be able to sing and shout though which will be annoying, but on the plus side, I apparently get to meet some of the players

I used to climb over the fence into the stretford end because there was never a queue in the paddock as it was full of old blokes. United road when it was a big game like Leeds, City or Liverpool.

Thats a petty excuse. At the end of the day, it was because of poor communication between Rio and VDS.

Tonight has got to be one of the most important european nights for quite some time since 1999.We must get a positive result tonight.I hope the boys are really fired up and give Roma a hard time. Our squad for tonight - Van der Sar, Kuszczak, O'Shea, Brown, Ferdinand, Cathcart, Heinze, Evra, Ronaldo, Fletcher, Carrick, Eagles, Giggs, Richardson, Solskjaer, Smith, Rooney, Dong - Pretty slim one if you ask me.

Chance for Evra to play left wing? Could be worth a shot. Fletch actaully looked pretty solid on Saturday, but wasnt' int he middle of the park, figure that means Giggs will be. Meaning no left sided player, no Park...so I say give Evra a shot?
