Manchester United Thread

The only reason you'd want Ronaldo over Becks is if you're going to be a team based on counter-attacking and pace, which I'm not quite sure United are becoming, but certainly with Saha, Rooney, Park, Ronaldo all on at the same time it does seem to be that kind of thing. What I think would hav ebeen interesting would have been if Becks had moved into the centre of midfield. And we'd still ahve someone who could take a free kick.

That said, ronaldo wasn't becks' replacement so much as damage mitigation IMO.

Yeah the 'I dont dont have a dad, hes dead' was abit too dramatic for me. Probably taken straight out of one of those U.S drama Tv showss

it's probably shit, very, very shit. But hell, why the fuck would you make something up about Ruud saying something to Ronaldo about his dad, that's fucked up, they need shooting, it's not fair on Cristiano
 
Vann, you reckon Gudjohnsen would be an adequate replacement for Ruud? :shock:

I don't know about that. He's not an out and out goalscorer and not in Ruud's class IMO. I know he was converted into an attacking midfield sort of player at Chelsea, but I still don't think he's the type of player we need. I could just see him taking up similar positions to Rooney when what we need is another 6 yard predator.

Has there been any actual confirmation that Ruud will not play in Keane's testimonial tonight? I know the papers/media love to speculate, but I've not heard a definite. In his interview on Friday he was saying how he was looking forward to it :*(

F*&^ Fergie on this one. Ruud has been a good servant of the club and deserves, at the very least, a good sending off. Fergie, even after all his success and time, still has to have his ego first. Just plain sucks.

your forgetting that beckham lost his place in the team to Ole cos Ole was playing so well on the RMF, obviously Fergie didnt know that Ole would get injured and be out for 3 seasons...

So it would have been Ole as 1st choice with Ronaldo as 2nd choice..

But to people like you im sure it was SAF fault that Ole got injured..
 
This arguement is dumb. There are so many reasons to justify SAF's decision to sell Beckham and bring in Ronaldo.
Ronaldo is younger, has a different playing style, doesnt have life outside football that affects his job, his wages are lower, is potentially a better player, is locked down to a much longer contract, the list goes on...
Why are we even bothering to discuss this matter?

There is a remote chance that Ruud will stay but he's really pissed SAF, he was in a bad mood all last week in training and been arguing with the players, one bust up in paticular was with Giggs after the sunderland game (where he was just wank).

In the programe on sunday Fergie said:

“If there is a non-trier, he deserves to be singled out. You cannot kid supporters"

“They are very sensitive to that kind of situation — and so am I.”.

Apparently Ruud is miffed by his treatment, inturn SAF is miffed at Ruuds reaction.

SAF talked Ruud into staying last year and now its all gone wrong, if he goes he goes, as long as its not to a prem rival, im told PSV are the faves to sign him.

In an ideal world they'd sort out there differences and look forward to us challenging chlesea and improving on our recent CL performances next season.

I'm hoping that cooler heads prevail. I think the best thing to do would be to say alright, lets not talk about it for now, go to the world cup, hopefully do well, come sit down in August and we'll talk then. Maybe SAF will swallow his pride, and Ruud can cool down a bit.
 
I like to move on more,hahaha..I can see the number 10 vacant now.Maybe El Roon will look good with it and surrender his number 8 to Riquelme and Diarra can take famous number 16 and really dig Keano's role.At the moment Real dont want him anymore.
 
And in other news, Tim Howard has been loaned to Everton for the season. I think its great for his development.

I rate Riquelme but he's not for us, he was poor against arsenal and his tracking back and lack of tackling wouldnt go down to well with supporters.
 
Just read on manutd.com - the pre match buildup to the Keane testimonial will feature Ruud, I presume this is recorded? More dissapointment/hope that maybe he'll change his mind.
 
Ruud has been omitted from playing in testimonial. This is disgusting, im sorry but yeah i support and cheer my club when we are playing, but i cant support this. How can you exclude a player form playing in someones testimonial let alone a legend such as roy Keane. SAF is a pricktoss for doing that. Im really begininig to dislike the man.

Wow, just read the article claiming to have the 'facts' about Ruud. I'm not sure how I feel if he really keeps fighting Ronaldo. I mean, I'm 99% sure he didn't actually mean to insult Ronaldo in that way, but regardless. Who would you keep, Ruud or Ronnie?

That article is BS, do you really think Ruud would say ' yeah yeah go run to daddy' reffering to Quieroz and then Ronaldo shouts back 'I dont have a dad.. hes dead' LOL ah man i cant beleive the shit people can come up with just to make up a story.; First do you think RVN be allowed to slate the assistent manager like that. Do you think Ruud would be so childish to come out with something like that? and lastly do you really think Ronaldo would be so dramatic and run off and cry after someone insulting him like that?
