Manchester United Thread

i tink wenger certainly underestimated us by resting henry
or maybe they wanted us to win and chase Chelsea right to the end

it is always exciting to watch these 2 rivals play against each other, did anyone notice, there were almost no tough tackles made by both sides and it was not as physical as we used to have

Well done United. You took your chances well, Rooney's first goal was brilliant, and your defending was brilliant. I'm really liking Vidic. Hats off, as we didn't play bad today, but you just put your chances away!

I salute you Goons in this forums for the first time. You lot really took it on the chin this time.Losing with honour is like winning with glory.Big ups to you lads.It was a great game, like a classic boxing match. We weathered the storm in the first half and came out fighting in the second.I'm sorry to say that we have exposed Arsenal's inexperienced at the back and in midfield.Eboue is ran ragged,Flamini couldnt contain Ronaldo and Sanderos wasnt fit enough facing up against Rooney.Fabregas didnt performed and Pires was piss poor.Arsenal didnt played too bad but they looked jaded, thats it.Rooney,Giggs,Park,Rio and Vidic were the main reason to why we played so well last nite.Credits to the others too on this victory.C'mon United.

ps:Antred, piss off you tosser! I bet you like sour-grapes.

even when henry came on... hardly see any diff

anyways, why was henry not in starting 11?

That's because he never got any balls, maybe Cesc should've stayed on?

So what about Ruud/Saha? I thought the team had better shape with Ruud on, but Saha can run a tired defence into the ground. I couldn't believe ruud got through on goal sobeautifully then missed wide, not like him! His ball to Rooney was exquisite too, not something you'd expect to see saha do. I don't know, I'm definitely torn. saha's scoring more at the moment, but I'm sure if we bank on him he'll just get hurt again and then we'll have no one (other than Rossi...) to partner rooney.

Vidic is looking to be a great centre back, but I do worry about his pace, you coudl see the arsenal strategy was to hit it past him and try to beat him to it, which resulted in a couple corners. Still, has adjusted really well into the team. evra as a left midfielder? Richardson must be unimpressed...

Cesc looked knackered and I think he was starting to lose his rag a bit which I imagine Wenger saw. There were a couple of times he went in late a little purposefully so bringing him off was probably the best thing to do.

You lot were the better team yesterday and fully deserved your win. I was getting a bit excited early on though when we really took the game to you.

Richardson is still injured, saha cant pass as he has no vision so Ruud is a better partner up fornt for Rooney!

He just lacks out right pace but everthing makes up for the lack of pace.

Vidic or Brow its up to SAF to decide thta one

Vidic all the way. I'm sure every manager knows that the defence is the last thing you want to experiment with. So far its working so we shouldnt change it. Maybe Brown could get a few games on the right.

Before Brown got injuried I really thought he was the most inform defender playing at that moment, maybe a Brown and Vidic partenership would be stronger but I cant see Ferdinand being dropped (what a tackle he did yesterday by the way). Gabby Heinze will be fit soon, that will only improve the defence as I feel hes the best defender at the club

Rio dropped????

No way hes playing well, little mistake against Bolton but he was nutmegged!

Its great to have so many options in defense and players fighting for places. Looking foward to next season when we have fully fit sqaud plus new buys.

Some more great news. I think this is ideal game for gabby to be unleashed. Fuck yea can you imagine neville, rio, vidic and heinze in defense together.

Manchester United defender Gabriel Heinze could be set for a shock comeback against Sunderland on Friday.

The Argentine left back has not played since rupturing cruciate ligaments back in September, but Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that he could be called upon to help United in their push for the title.

The news comes as a sharp contrast to recent statements by both the player and manager, who had indicated that he would be struggling to be fit in time for this summer's World Cup.

Ferguson had also said that he would be reluctant to gamble on Heinze with the Premiership title still up for grabs.

However, he has been impressed by the 27-year-old's attitude in training, and now looks set to unleash a hungry Heinze in the must-win game at home to Sunderland.

"Gaby has been training for three weeks now and he is looking fantastic," Ferguson commented.

"He has been tackling like a tiger, has shown great energy in training and his enthusiasm is infectious.

"He is very close and I might just give him a go against Sunderland on Friday."

We all always say that but things never work out for us in the end. :(

Heres something to think about. If we have Vidic, Rio and Heinze playing, what kind of player would you want to sign for the right hand side? Someone like Heinze or someone like Evra?

Well we already have a player like heinze on the right in G.Neville. We just need to toughen up in midfield and get a plyer who will protect the defense with all his heart and determination like Heinze. I will add though that O'Shea and giggs have been a revelation in the middle together.

Need Diaara and another!

Teams great bah central midfield!

Diarra, Nolan maybe plus another defensive midfielder

Yeah O'Shea was exactly what you want from his position against the gunners: anonymous. Other than one challenge (which I believe he got booked for, I like how about 3 united players got booked on their first challenge, but Eboue got about 10 before his yellow) I don't recall seeing him too much, but balls weren't reaching the forwards and arsenal didn't really string much together, so I take that as him doing his job. Filling the passing lanes, picking up runners etc - thankless and invisible jobs.

So how bout Heinze in that position? Good ball distribution, good in the air, committed, we've tried everyone else :) !

Its an interesting idea but once you step into midfield, its very different from being a defender. When you're a defender, you only look ahead of you cuz you look towards the on coming attack. When in midfield, you need to all the way around you cuz the ball is played around at every angle.
You might have all the characteristics to play as a defensive midfielder and in games like PES5 it might even work very well. But like I said, defenders are not used to seeing whats behind them cuz usually theres no one there but your own keeper.

crap... clubs nowadays trying to make a meal out of transfers just becoz he is highly rated

Clubs have always done that. Whatvever the price though, if its a player Fergie wants and believes is world class, he will be given the funds to bid. Personally i dont think the guy is worth 24million; i mean how the fuck should a defense midfielder who just sits in front of defense and tackles, cost so much? its ridiculous. But football money is ridiculous so i wont even get into that argument. I dont like hearin Diarra would prefer a move to Madrid. Imginae United start bidding, and then Real get involved,it will be Ronaldinho Barce-United bidding war all over gain. only for the player to move to spain. I cant take another heartbreak like that.

Put it this way, was Essien worth £24million? Absolutely not. So Lyon can absolutely stick that where they'd like. Offer them £15m tops and if they don't want it fine. I hate that crap, other than maybe Rooney, Ronaldinho and Henry, I can't imagine anyone on earth being able to recoup that much transfer fee. (Beckham cuase of shirts maybe, though past it now I think)

Another reason to love Chelsea, they've set the bar for unproven midfielders at £24m (outside of hte isolated champ league performances) so everyone else is expected to follow.
