Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Does anyone else really not feel much pressure tonight? Every league game has had me tearing my hair out, but the European adventure this year seems like just that - an adventure. At the start of the year I'd never of expected us to make it this far (or be top of the league) so am just enjoying it as it comes.

Hoping for a cracking game. Schalke have apparently rested their first XI for this match, so I expect them to have more energy. But am confident that we can at least create some chances.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Not nervous but quietly confident. This season, League >< CL for me, nothing to choose between them but for me the Champions League in any other season is our main goal and im sure that's how SAF looks at it.

I think we'll go with experience tonight, expect Giggs and Scholes to start, were fucked without Fletcher and that bloke in the treatment room for players who can win us the ball back so I think Park will start centrally.

Hopefully we start bright as Schalke will look to attack us from the off.

Regarding Ronaldo, Sigh, He's a great player, potentially a United legend in 10-25 years (his United cult followed proves this) but were (in this cup anyway) in direct competition with his team so for now Fuck Ronaldo :)) Once Real are out all best wishes to the lad.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I just want that 19th title out of the way. I'm happy to wait another year for the CL.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Anything is a bonus this year really, wouldn't say I'm relaxed about tonight, because we're still favourites to progress, so there's that pressure. Don't really know what to expect tonight, but obviously I'm hoping we can get a goal to take home with us.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I'm extremely nervous to be honest.

Champions League semi-final, against an opposition from a league of teams we never do well against, how could you not be nervous?

It's got Leverkusen 2001/02 written all over it.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Jesus Christ, could have won several matches with all the chances we've had so far!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

F*** me, this Neuer guy's a wall. German goalkeeping at its finest.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I'm struggling to remember a team dominating away from home to such an extent in a CL semi-final in recent times. How on earth did Inter concede 5 at home against this lot?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Good stuff, all the talk of us underestimating Schalke and perhaps it could be argued they ended up underestimating us, absolutely dreadful defending from them.

As I would of said if it ended without us scoring, despite Neuer's heroics, if we hadn't of scored, we'd only of had ourselves to blame, no goalkeeper is unbeatable and we had plenty good of chances. Still Bayern should be very happy to have him, he looks quality!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I think with all the underestimating of Schalke, everyone actually overestimated them!

Unbelievable how sh!t they were! Utd were very good, but any team that get's dominated by a CM of Giggs and Carrick isn't worth a CL place, let alone a semi. Well that's another round of matches being pointless...

Hopefully tommorow will be a cracker!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

i think he wanted to say that Giggs is mainly wide player and not holding CM and that Carrick most of the season was not playing as starter..

Giggs is legendary imo.. just hoped Schalke would give you more hard time..

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

:DD WOOHOO! One hand on the league trophy and one foot on the Wembley turf.

Neuer is a great talent.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Neuer was selling himself tonight  I disagree YG 2 hands on the trophy and who knows with England behind ya! any is possible

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Just saw the news doing the rounds on twitter that Ryan Giggs is the alleged player that was rumoured to be having an affair with Miss Imogen Thomas of BB fame....

Does anyone believe it's him?

That was going round work on Friday night too.

That'd be the midfield that dominated Chelsea in the quarters too? Strange comment. No idea why it works, but it seems to. Only with the energy of Park, Rooney and Valencia around them though.

So chuffed with our performance. For all those commenting how poor Schalke were, we were genuinely excellent. Posession, creation everything. Carrick man of the match in a CL semi final? Who'd of thunk it.

Need to do a job at OT, but come on boys, we're going to Wem-ber-ley again!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

United were great! And Schalke were Poor!!

It was almost weird, haven't seen something that one-sided in a while and certainly not in a home CL semi-final as somebody mentioned earlier.

United need to be given great credit and fans should be delighted with performance and Schalke players apart from Neuer need to be ashamed of themselves. Okay so nobody expected them to go through over 2 legs but this was embarassing!

Uchida played a decent game too and Neuer was MoM but Farfan and rest were very below par and disappointing. Best team by a mile won and the scoreline could've been as embarassing as the Germans' performances. Luckily for them, it's not.... Giggs along coudl've had a hat-trick tonight!

p.s. I wanna know what Park f'n eats! lol What's this guy's diet? Training? how can a human being have SO much f'n stamina?!? Dude's a FREAK! This guy will be useful for the final especially if it goes the distance. I can just see him in 119th minute in extra time storming past players and running like a horse around closing opponents like it's the first minute!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I think Schalke used a different team when they played against Inter....what huge differences in their performance between those two games...

Neuer is really a great keeper, too bad he's not coming to us...could really use a player like him to replace VDS...

As for Carrick and Giggs, they really had the time of their lives with the ball...the Schalke midfield were so afraid of Valencia/Park, they wouldn't risk pressuring Carrick to make the passes (and mistakes he usually makes when pressured), thus the great performance he had...it was like training!!!

Oh come on, just stick an agressive striker on Carrick and he's nullified. The amount of space they were giving him was ridiculous. I love Giggs, so the comment wasn't a negative towards him, but there are enough teams in England that put up some fight and some tactical nous that you should be able to atleast give them a game.

Schalke just stood off and let Utd play around them. Not surprised by the result and was expecting Utd to make the final, but it was a f#$king training match. It's probably more dissapointment that I was hoping for a decent, competitive semi and ended up watching a pre-season friendly. ;)

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Neuer is a great talent.

sorry, but right now he is going to establish as world best GK !!
he was a talent 3-4 years ago.

well, if you think schalke was shit yesterday and played very poor you have to think about some issues:
manu played very well - nearly the best performance of a away team i ever saw in schalke/veltins arena.
all manu players have a lot experience in playing that kind of matches at that stage in CL.
for schalke it was the first time. only raul and farfan have ever come so far in this tournament. and i think they were a little bit afraid of the squad of manu (vds, ferdinand, vidic, giggs, rooney etc.) there are a lot of players that are worldclass and well experienced.

thoogh i hoped that we will have a chance to reach a draw - i feel not ashamed about the match yesterday. we are proud of the CL-season we played so far. yesterday almost all players were weak and played far away from their best. manu was ages better and absolutely deserved that win and we were lucky not to lose with more than 2 goals - thank to neuer for that; as i mentioned one of the world's best gk !!

Wouldn't blame him if it was. She's a beauty!!
I'll see if his cousin knows anything about it when I see him at footy on the weekend.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Neuer is a great talent.

I hope Barca do Madrid and if they do, I can't see United sitting back on the edge of their box. It's just not their style. They will struggle to get the ball off Barca at times (well a lot of the time) and be forced to defend but in all fairness, you just know they won't purposely go out and play like that. I believe United would beat Madrid but can't see them beating Barca. You never know though!

Hope tonights game is better than last nights and not so one sided.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Valencia should have beaten Schalke but they and in particularly Emery screwed it up.

Manchester United are already in the final .There is no way Schalke can come back or I'll eat my hat.

Neuer is on his way to Bayern anyway but kept the scoreline down to two when it could quite conceivably have been five or six.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

So whilst the Real/Barca outrage continues can we quietly discuss how we can overcome a potential meeting with Barcelona at Wembley.

Back 5 is obvious, I think Hernandez is a must.
----------Carrick
Nani/Valencia-??-Rooney-Park
--------Hernandez-------

Still not sure on that one, Fletcher might not be ready, Giggs is to offensive and not sure how Anderson would cope (especially after Rome)

Thoughts?
