Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I hope its a midfielder. We really are looking weak in that department again. Scholes aint got long left, Hargo has almost been written off, Carrick's too inconsistant and Anderson hasnt really lit the place up like we were hoping. That doesnt leave many reliable names.

It could be argued that its the midfield that's the cause of our bad away form at the moment. We need someone who can do the defensive work.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Not sure about you lot but I've got a bad feeling about the Marseille tie, just think our away performances have been extremely poor it may be the same in Europe.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

3 wins out of 3 away from home in Europe, so far, isn't it?

Yeah are record in Europe is second to none the last 3-4 years but I just have that bad feeling about the tie.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I'm excited!

Biggest club in England vs. Biggest club in France! Millions and Millions of fans supporting each!

One thing is for sure, passion will be high! Two absolutely MASSIVE clubs! Doesn't get much bigger than these two.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Games against French opposition tend to be quite cagey and tight for us.

Can't remember us comfortably beating a French side since Nantes in 2001(?) and even then we needed a last minute RvN penalty to snatch a draw in the away tie.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

The atmosphere will get to us in the first half, we'll end up giving the ball away loads and they'll be attacking all the time.

It's just upto them to capitalise on it and take their opportunities.

We'll settle into it a bit more second half and maybe sneak a 1-0 to take back to OT.

Usual away tie against big team/big stadium full of fans observation/prediction.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Yeah that sounds about right.

P.s. 1-year extension for the ULTIMATE LEGEND!!!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Neville retired and Giggsy still going for at least 1 more year! He might even outstay Paul Scholes!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Giggs career is phenomenal.. if only he could achieve more things with Wales..but anyway..this career is simply best in football history imo..

And i think he will be usefull next season as well...

statue material for United :D

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

It's crazy though, he's what 37? and he plays like a 21 year old winger that can run all day and is probably better than most aswell!

I don't think theirs ever been a better footballer at 37 years of age as Giggs currently is, surely not?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Stanley Matthews, maybe? We'd need the opinion of someone old enough to have seen both play.

I'd argue Van Der Sar is better, but kind of different that. Outfield, no, I don't think so. not in the last 20 years.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Can anyone who follows the French league give a little summary of Marseille? I ashamedly haven't seen them outside of the CL this season. I heard Gignac is out - is that a big loss (certainly not on international form!).

Rivaldo maybe? don´t know.. about Matthews, in his days the football was totaly different to modern game..with all respect of course..

surely youre takin the piss?Rivaldo at 37???Ryan Giggs has all the the respect from me.A true premiership great.and im a red....

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Urgh - Anderson apparently out for 2 months...that could be the straw that breaks our back. No Hargreaves for the season of course, which leaves us, I think, with just:

Carrick - Out of form, but probably first choice
Scholes - Can only manage about 60-65 minutes of top level football (and will be suspended soon)
Fletcher - Has had 1 good season in the last 5, not good enough imo as a midfield 2
Gibson - Dear lord

And that's it. There's no back up. There's no one I've forgotten. 6 games in 18 days for them. Scholes at most can play 2 of those I'd say. Plus no Park or Valencia to let Giggsy slip into the middle.

Well Fergie - why is it exactly we haven't signed a CMF in 3 years?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

That might explain why Rooney was mainly playing in midfield against Crawley...

Don't forget we have John O'Shea more than capable (:CONFUSE:) of playing there too. Matty James - since he was recalled from Preston - could also be drafted in if we were really short on numbers.
