Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Gotta be careful with those Chicharito videos. Any Youtube compilation can make the shittiest of players look decent.

Somehow, all the relatively unknown players we've signed lately have turned out to be a disappointment. I had some hopes for Obertan, but we haven't seen him for a while now. I'd rather we go for proven EPL players this time. Valencia was a great signing for example, he's been excellent.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Yeah what a waste of money Obertan was, another disaster by SAF. Can't believe we paid £3m for this guy, he'll never make it, forget the fact it's his first (injury disrupted) season and he didn't have a preseason at all, he's not even top scorer! Unbelievable!

Don't even get me started on Macheda.

I agree we should go for proven EPL quality, afterall, all the fans love Carrick and Berbatov don't they.

You make it sound like we should raid Spurs again ;)

Obertan played well for the reserves on Thursday (who beat Hull 6-1). He seemed to have a go at both wings & up front, so maybe SAF & Ole were seeing if he was ready to play there today? Searing pace up front would help make up for no Rooney, so maybe...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Why we don't see more Obertan ?
I think last time i see him it's in CL with two assists for Owen.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Meh, Let's keep going.

Obertan is in his first season, patience with the boy.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I remember many fans hating on Ronaldo before turning into the star he is.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Yeah, we could do with someone like Scott Parker right now. And another striker, but the transfer window cant come soon enough.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Scott Parker?! Really? Hopefully Hargreaves can make a full recovery as we need a defensive midfielder playing that sitting role.

I think Anderson's role needs to be defined next season for sure, I think the lack of goal he produces means he'll probably get the "deep lying playmaker" rather than creative spark behind Wayne Which means we need that.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Definately missed any kind of spark yesterday. Berbatov didn't offer anything, apart from throw a strop every 5 minutes.
I don't think he communicates with the team at times, so as gifted as he is the players never seem to know what he's going to do. One minute he'll pass it one way, and then a few minutes later he'll be in the same position, so the receiving player will get into the same space, only for him to play it somewhere else. Seems to happen a lot in every game...

I see what you guys mean about signing someone like Scotty Parker. Someone in that Gattuso mould (the player from a couple of years ago of course) who can play the blocking role. Can't see it happening as that's what Fletcher (and Hargreaves if he plays again) does, and looking through the other teams in the EPL there aren't that many that stand out, or that we'd buy - Essien obviously but the rest ie Palacios, Cattermole, Fellaini...?

I think we just missed a 'proper' striker yesterday. As long as someone's in the box Valencia will get crosses to them. That, and teaching Nani how to take corners again...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Dear Mack, nice to see you again, it has been a while. Not sure what exactly the attached picture means, implies and so forth, but I'm guessing it's something to do with the fact that our team is built on history, and yours is built on exploitation of a natural resource.

Cheers. For. That.

As far as banter-ing up before the match, I would have thought your form versus our form would be evidence enough that United are looking at a pretty bleak end of season.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

It does say at the bottom, Changing the clubs history to ryme with a song..... I also find it so ironic that Old Trafford is full of aig wearing U****d tops and then the green and YELLOW scalves lol

That's the thing though, Fletcher doesn't play as a defensive midfielder, he never has! he's a box to box player with great stamina and tenacity to stop the other team playing, but he doesn't sit. Its why we play Carrick often sitting whose disciplined enough to do that but I don't think its his best position (or its good enough to play him their against the best teams).

Hargreaves is someone that can sit infront of the back four rather then go everywhere like Fletch.

We need to pick whether we want Anderson to either to play from deep or to play infront of 2 midfielders and then go and buy the empty slot.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

He was frozen out while he sorted his attitude out and lost some weight but then got injured on his first game back and is out for the season!

Not sure what the clamour is for a defensive midfielder, we're pretty solid defensively, even with all the injuries we've still got the tightest defence in the league. Creativity is what we're lacking, players like Scholes and Giggs are the only ones capable of linking the midfield with the attack and they're on their last legs. Carrick should be able to do that but he seems to be used as the anchor and Fletcher does well but he's not exactly creative and capable of carving open a tight unit like Blackburn yesterday.

Not sure how you can say Berbatov offered nothing yesterday Jamesy, his general play in the first half especially was good, he was probably our best player infact and he put that ball on a plate for Valencia with a beautiful disguised through-ball that should have resulted in a goal but Valencia fluffed his lines. If that had've gone in we wouldn't be talking like this but as usual Berbatov takes all the flack when the others around him were worse!

If 4-5-1/4-3-3 is the way SAF wants to go then I think we need to sign a creative midfielder who can link the play, I don't think a holding player is what we need, we've got Carrick, Fletcher, Hargreaves, Anderson, Scholes, Gibson and so on who can do the rest but not build moves, or at least they're not doing it anyway.

The thing is a Creative midfielder would be good but currently we can't hold onto it, if we have him(Mr X) playing behind Wayne and on evidence from the last two games we just can't hold onto it, we need a Scholes/Xavi who can do that for us rather than someone trying to create higher up the pitch when he can hardly get a touch. (or is that what you meant?)

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

hahaha, guess the three defeats really took a blow out of us fans...

i don't remember a time during the end of a season when it has been so quiet in here!!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I'm really not looking forward to tomorrow. Rooney or no Rooney.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

So City are kicking off about Martin Atkinson (ref from the 4-3 at OT) being appointed as ref as Steve Bennett is stranded in Romania. Great! Now if we win (big if!) then all we'll hear is how bent the ref was.

This is the ref that fucked us over at the Bridge, denying us a clear penalty and letting Chelsea score from a freekick that never was and fouling our defenders as they scored it and the same guy who helped us get knocked out of the FA Cup against Porstmouth a season or 2 ago when he failed to give us a penalty for Distin's handball and then gave them one and sent Kuszczak off, yet City have complained about his appointment because he (correctly) played 6mins of injury time at OT and they lost!

Fucks me off so much. The press have got hold of it already, they probably wont mention the times he's 'done us wrong' or if they do it'll be bogged down at the bottom of the article after a misleading headline and now the seeds been planted the ABU's, pundits and City fans have the perfect excuse and talking point if they lose and Atkinson is under immense pressure not to balls up and give us a decision that he may get wrong. And people say SAF is the only one that does this.

Total bullshit from the media and smalltime from City. Ref's aren't bent, just get on with it.
