Utterly without confidence ahead of the match tonight. The only thing I can hope for is that we can’t be as bad as we’ve been in the past two matches. As others have pointed out, Bayern have scored in every single away match they’ve played in the CL this year, so it’s to expect us to be the exception. And if they score, we need 2 at the very least, and more like 3. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I just don’t see us maintaining enough possession to create that many chances.

The biggest question will be if Fergie goes for energy or experience. It sounds as though Red Nev will be at right back, which I think will massively cripple us due to his inability to exploit the space left behind Ribery who doesn’t track back. But, given Rafael’s frailties/tendency towards rash challenges I can understand from a defensive point of view.

In the middle we have to use Fletch, Carrick and hopefully a not-crap Park. This will enable us to play both Valencia and Nani flanking Berbatov, which will keep Bayern pegged back – something we failed at in the first leg as any pass to Park was just giving it back to them. Ideally I’d like to see that for the first 50 minutes, with a view to swap Park with Giggs, and potentially Berbatov with Macheda.

If we do go through it’ll be a great achievement, but I can only see a score draw. Possibly 2-2.

Vidic owes us a goal.

Mentioned this in the chatbox, but it kind of annoys me that people on tv refer to this game as a 'rematch' of 99'. Errrr... United played Bayern in 2001 and lost, allowing Bayern to go on through to play Valencia and win the CL at the San Siro.

Terrible game by the way. It shows again that our defense doesn't have the class needed at the moment. Van Buyten, Micho and Badstuber are too slow. Mueller disappoints again, unfortunately, but he sure has the talent to compete on this level in a few years.

wow, what a half.....The Bayern players are really rough against us, and I just hope that we won't get any more injuries...

SAF really has to do some talking in the dressing room so we won't give up the ball as easily.

Yeah for such 'hard' men in the way Bayern commit fouls, they don't have flop about like pansies when they're touched. Van Bommel in particular likes a good roll...

Can't believe we conceeded. Carrick is having a nightmare season really. Then again, I guarantee if that was Rooney on Van Buyten ref gives a foul...

Its been a poor show for english clubs in this competition. is it because other countries have sussed us out on how to play against a top english side?

Out of it now. unlucky guys. onlyw atched the last 10mins as beyrn pretty much held the ball. i was a bti surprised you lot diddnt press hard enough for teh ball though how come? tired legs?

I have to say that Rafael had a great game marking Ribery...two ridiculously idiotic decisions costed us the game!!! And after so many times in his career that has happened, you'd think that he'd learn wouldn't you?? GOSH!!! IDIOT!!!

What weird match. Bayern were rubbish, apart from getting fouled a lot and one moment of utter brilliance for chief of the complainers, Arjen Robben. Classy strike.

But has a German team ever been so pansy ass? Is Ribery's sole role in the team to get fouled and then scream and wave imaginary cards? I'd be upset with him, but he's so ugly you just have to feel some sympathy.

Also, does anyone else expect a referee to show some common sense? 2 fouls all match and 2 yellow cards. Both borderline.

1. Nani will do a Messi.
2. Rooney is injured, needs to come off.
3. Fabio needs to come off, Ribery will get a 2nd yellow out of him.

On another note, I hate Berbatov, ever since he first signed for you lot. Always prefered Tevez. Look at him today, after 70m Nani was still running full speed everywhere, Berbatov walked... :(

After tomorrow all top English teams will be out of European competitions...

yeah .... leading by 3 goals is hard to explain Bayern looked a mess in the 1st half. No one cares about Europa though
