Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I'm not sure if I've said anything bad about Valencia on here but if I have, I take it all back. I honestly didnt think he was all that at first. I think I had to learn to look past all the comparisons between him and Ronaldo and look at Valencia as his own man. And other than Ronaldo and Giggs, he might be the next best winger we've had since Beckham left(unless I'm forgetting someone important).

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Antonio Valencia....He is a definite starter now for us.He has scored more for us now then he ever did during his spell at Wigan. That speaks volumes and how about that finish against his old club? Clinical.I do not think Ronaldo scored as much as Valencia in his first season too..Correct me if i am wrong.

That's right although Ronaldo was a much more raw, unfinished article than Valencia.

But it annoys me how people compare Valencia to Ronaldo.

If anything, Valencia direct, full back terrorising style could be compared to Kanchelskis.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Exactly, Ronaldo was modern day Forward. Valencia is traditional winger. Similar to Andrei but he had more tricks.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I think Valencia has more pace and power than Kanchelskis ever did but the russian has more dribbling skills...nevertheless both are very very good players.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Anyone know what the catchy ever so popular chant that is sang at the moment is ? Id love to provide more information but I dont know a single word to the chant! I just know how it sort of sounds!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Its like watching a bunch of retards trying to fuck a door knob!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Wow, some very important points in case Fergie is reading ;) :
1. When we never play the same team, we don't have that extra notch of understanding. Gibbo and Anderson just don't know each other very well. They were fine, wasn't their fault, but if you need some magic you need that link of two players used to being next to each other.

2. Wesley Brown is not good enough to 'lead' a defence. He has been caught out once every single match this season. It's alright when he's with Rio or Vida, because they're hte leaders, and move into spaces behind him for his f*ck ups. But he's 30 and Evans is 21, so he needs to shoulder the responsiblity. He was woeful.

3. Gary Neville is done. For the love of God retire Red Nev. For your team's future success.

4. The Welbeck myth continues. Useless. Jermaine Beckford was superior in every area.

5. Fergie's desperate through on all of the forwards doesn't work, because there is no service, because there is no midfield. It's failed every single time he's done it this season.

6. Michael Owen is supposedly a predator. Wolfsburg aside, he must have one of hte worst conversion ratios in the premiership. How many chances do you need lil fella?

7. If half the team had half of Rooney's spirit, we wouldn't have lost.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

We got some team called Tottenham or something next round...who did you get? :)

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I tell ya what Leeds fans went off the charts when Bedford`s ball rolled into the net. Now , I know why rafa didn`t want Owens

Yeh you guys fully deserved it, First game of the year but it'll be hard for us to play as bad as that again this year.

Muppets will be out in force though with "Berbaflop" and all that. Everyone was crap no need to single out the 2-3 individuals who were as crap as everyone else.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I think we have to look at Fergie for that result.
Knowing the history and the hatred between the teams I'd have expected us to put out a stronger lineup.
Rooney, Fabio & Anderson seemed to be the ones with real desire and determination, but it wasn't enough.

Today Fergie has said that he's not looking to strengthen the side during this transfer window. Sounds more like we don't have the money to be able to...

We can't afford another perfomance like that, especially against City in midweek...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Fergie ALWAYS says he's not looking to sign anyone, then goes and signs someone. I'm sure he said the same thing last summer.

While true, Berbatov did cost £30 million and has never once looked like repaying that money in his performances.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Atleast Fergie was decent in defeat, even going so far as saying;

"The referee gave five minutes," complained Ferguson. "That is an insult to the game and the players out there."

Nice of him to acknowledge that it shouldn't have been more then 3 min.........oh wait. :P

You see I don't get this, A stronger lineup? We fielded very close to our strongest available side and you can't say that the team we fielded aren't good enough to beat a League 1 side.

The problem was the players played crap, Nothing Fergie could have done about that.

While true, Berbatov did cost £30 million and has never once looked like repaying that money in his performances.

He was crap against leeds but was very good against Wigan, Him and Rooney have played the last 3 games together, 1 average performance, 1 very good one and 1 awful one. Lets see how that fairs after they both play more regularly.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I'm not denying that the line up we had should have been enough to beat a League 1 team.
My gripe was that as Leeds are one of our most hated rivals we should have fielded a line up to tear them apart, not one that should be enough to win. It was almost the lineup you'd expect for the Carling Cup game this week.
IMO Giggs, Carrick & Valencia should have started, Fabio could have been at right back with Evra at LB (unless he was injured?). That would have made us a lot stronger. OK, it still might not have been enough to win, but it would have shown our intention.

Maybe I'm still too pissed off about it, so we'll see what happens in the next couple of games. It's just that our last few games we haven't played well. I know we got 5 against Wigan, but watching it again they were really poor (no suprise Spurs put 9 past them if they played the same way against them)

On a positive note, I did see a Leeds fan get decked in the North stand... served him right for being lairy in the home section.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Should you really need to play the likes of Giggs, Carrick and Valencia to beat a League One team though? The players you had out there were more than good enough, it's down to them and not poor team selection IMO.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

It must be said, if they can't get themselves up for a game against one of their biggest (historically at least) rivals, with 11,000 of their fans helping the atmosphere, then I just don't know whats up with them.

I'd sure as hell have been on one if I was playing. Fergie, sign me up.

Being a Man Utd fan is enough reason for me to hate them but the fact I come from Derby, who also share a rivalry dating back to the 70s with Leeds adds another dimension to it for me.

Personally, I'd love to see Leeds back in the Premiership and be able to have those highly intense, titanic tussles we had in the past, I've kinda got bored of them struggling in the lower leagues.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I was fed up with our performance too.Disgusted with Gary Neville who's time was up like a year ago.Gibson still needs to loose some more fat.Welbeck needs to play in his natural position. We played all 3 of our best forwards and still couldnt find a goal....We need a resolution to that real quick.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Not finding excuses but when a midfield of Obertan, Gibson, Anderson and Welbeck starts against a fired up bitter rival its going to be tough. Shame Valencia didnt start and either Giggs/Park on the other wing, because those sort of players will show that more hard work than Obertan and Welbeck (yes they played bad so they will be prone to the odd shite game)

Another piss off is the fitness of Vidic, just what his he doing to himself? self-harming or something?
