Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

The article about Berbatov just said he needs surgery and that he is playing through the pain. If he was to have the surgery he'd be out for 3 months and that's not happened so for now he's available.

And also it was the Sun so it might be complete bollocks.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Just give Obertan more games and we wont need either of them.

I completely agree with what your saying but generally on the wings we are extremely thin. (considering Nani has been frozen out) currently we have Valencia, Obertan, Park and Giggs who has only played their due to lack of other options and is much better used centrally. We Generally need a LW and depending on how SAF feels about Berba/Rooney partnership a CF.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

That was Wayne holding the game at the scruff of its neck.He ran the show without actually playing superbly. We needed that result to be honest to get us back into the fold.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Yeh Rooney was everywhere, showed moments of rubbish with moments of brilliance. With Rooney's injury record though I fear if we lose the lad were fucked.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Yeah but he only gets injured when he's having a great run of form.

He's been generally shit lately, so he'll be fine.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

"Generally Shit" I can understand to some extent but even then he's the one scoring or settings up goals for us. Giggs can probably take the mantle of creating but scoring?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Well you're not the only one.

Unfortunately there are a lot of United fans who unbelieveably think he's having a good season and we probably won't get rid of him.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

We won't get rid of him and why should we? Before the month of issue's he had a good run. scored against Stoke, had a good game against Wolfsburg, scored against Sunderland and scored against Blackburn. He's came back and not played well but still created that goal for Valencia against Wolves and scored against Hull.

If SAF decides to buy a CF who scores for fun then I can see where he's coming from but Berba won't leave Owen will.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

C'mon lads...Berba wont be allowed to leave or sold.Sir Alex mentioned that United have been missing a player like Berba and that speaks volumes. We might but another forward but that definitely wont harm Berba's position.Berba might be playing alongside the new CF while Rooney will be pushed back to the left side.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Yeah, with the age he's at and everything, it'll probably be best to be with the wife more often.
I hope I'm wrong and things work out for them.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Horrible news that, thoughts go to Edwin and the family, just had a couple kids didn't they? Awful. :(

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Wow, awful news for VDS... the proof that bad luck doesn't just exists to us regular people, sometimes we think they are baffled with luck when their just like us with problems and issues that can happen at any time.

The best of luck to VDS and his wife, hope everything goes for the best for them.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Our hearts and prayers goes out to Annamarie Van Der Sar at the moment. The club did a humane thing to allow Edwin on compassionate leave and also take as long as he wants to.Its refreshing to see some thing like this being shown despite football being a business now.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

So it's said that Chelsea are now 'debt free' as Abramovitch, who loaned them the funds in the first place, decided to turn their debts into equity. It's a shame it can't happen to United as it was actually Glazer who borrowed the money to purchase the club. :PIRATE:

I've also seen on the BBC website that Platini was planning (by 2012) to ban clubs who are too endebted from competing in the CL. On the one hand, I do understand because smaller clubs will always struggle the way it is now. On the other hand, it's unfair for United as most of their debts (someone correct me if I'm wrong) come from the fact that the Glazers had to borrow money to buy the club. It's not because we bought players all over the place à la Real Madrid. I mean, we usually buy one expensive player a season (if none at all), and a few cheaper ones. We also release or sell quite a few number of players.

Oh well.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Great performance! We tore them apart!

Valencia and Rooney were brillaint, Berbatov and Rafael also very good. What a difference it makes having Fletcher and Carrick playing in their proper positions.

I noticed Berba was releasing the ball alot earlier than normal and was involved in more short, sharp passing moves... maybe SAF has had a word with him and asked him to do this, it certainly worked tonight. That move between him, Park and Rooney where Wayne headed against the bar was phenomenal, as was the skill where Wayne did Figueroa and hit the post in the first half.

Good atmosphere in the ground too which is unusual for a midweek league game late in December!

Really happy with that, perfect way to end the year.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Fucking get in :DD

Were just tore them apart, even though its only Wigan was still the best we've played in a while. Everyone was really good but agree with the 4 you mentioned being a level above the rest.

I also thought for the first time Berbatov lead the line and Rooney played off him today, worked as both were brilliant.

Hopefully the next decade can be as good as this one. :))

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

That was a 5 star rout with a clean sheet! Who was MOTM? I had to be between Valencia or Rafael right? We are back to our ruthless best in this game, slick passing, typical quick counters and top defending.Carrick and Fletch had a great game in the middle too. What a way to end the year and may the great form rubs off everyone in the team for 2010.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Can't read too much into it as it was Wigan, but if we can play like that then I have real hope for the next 5 months or so. Shock, look what happens when (more or less) the same XI line up twice in a row - good understanding, good movement and good confidence. Who'd of thought it?

Was really impressed with vidic as well, he brought the ball up from defense consistently well, which is rare and a big change from his usual hoof it to the other team.

Valencia was great, but how do defenders not know what he's going to do? Every single time its the same thing, get to teh byline nick it over. He NEVER comes inside, why don't they show him that way? Guess it must be harder than it looks to stop him...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

It is, Messi is someone who is also pretty predictable but doesn't stop him doing it over and over again and making the defence(s) look crap. 7 goals in 15 games is amazing for Valencia in his first season with us.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

One dimensional waste of money, not fit to lace Ronaldo's boots. Fergie's lost it. We'll struggle to make 4th.

:D

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Get used to it. They'll be saying that about Ramsey when Fabregas leaves for home.

difference is Ramsey is learning from fab he already turns the ball like fab :BOP: sucks having fab as top scorer that belongs to a striker ffs!

How you lots feeling about losing out on Ramsey ? knowing that wasn`t a Wenger type of signing. IMO Ramsey and Wil seem different w/o being obvious
