Its no brainer that Ronaldo used to be that link, which is probably what we're missing more than anything. Its not the goals he scored, its arguably the ones he created.
Now Anderson is supposed to be the new link but he's just not good enough. There's only one other man that can do the job but he was promised he'd never have to play out wide or deep again. I think maybe Sir Alex will have to go back on his word and give Mr Rooney the "Ronaldo role".

Not only do we miss our central defenders, we also miss Carrick and Fletcher to control the midfield. Rooney, Berbatov and Owen are barely given any decent balls. I can't blame them for not scoring.

I feel those next few games will be the turning point of the season. Unless Vidic and Brown get back very soon (with Fabio as right back so that Fletch can get back to his original position), we'll be in huge trouble when January comes.

I'm actually crossing my fingers.

Well hopefully the Fulham game will at least have taught Fergie to play mediocre players in their correct positions, rather than fit the best fit XI players on the pitch somehow. Fletcher is a woeful right back. Fabio or De Laet simply have to be a better option. And Evra as a winger? He was lost.

By next game we should be able to play:
------------Kuszak--------------
--Fabio--Vidic--De-Laet--Evra---
------Fletcher-Carrick----------
----------Anderson--------------
--Valencia-------------Obertan--
------------Rooney--------------

Which would be far more balanced and give us a much better chance, whiel still protecting the defense. Fergie's clearly scared to play with 2 up front until the back 4 are sorted, which sucks but I can kind of understand.

Disagree with that to be honest,Were missing Rooney's old role. Were only missing Ronaldo's "Magic Moments" Other than that were doing fine without him. Ronaldo was never the link between midfield and attack. He scored the goals and Rooney created them.

Rooney = Creator - Ronaldo = Finisher

What's happened this season is Rooney's been given Ronaldo's role of scoring the goals and initially the creator role was meant for Berbatov, unfortunately that hasn't worked out so far (not getting a run in the side, kidnap stuff and generally not playing that well) but Giggs has took the role and done fantastic when he's played, problem is he can't play all the time.

Giggs/Berbatov = Creator - Rooney = Finisher

I can see us buying a CF who scores the goals and giving Rooney is old role back in the summer.

you lots need to remember how berba played w/ Spurs him and keane were holding hands in attack. All you see now is Berba`s arms up in frustration cause no one is w/ him. While rooney maybe back tracking or in the middle chasing the ref.Berba is alone and to me he is the best in flicking ball to be finish ,but it`s wasted on someone who doesn`t fancy his game.Same thing happens w/ Arshavin not many could play w/ him only Fab and sometimes Ramsey . Eduardo and him look like they don`t even like each other or they just don`t fit well imo

We haven't really tried playing Berbatov and Rooney together this season (with a proper role given to them I mean). With all the injuries that's been happening, we've been playing all sorts of formations and combinations.

If we could at least once play a team like this then maybe it'd work :

O'Shea - Ferdinand/Evans - Vidic - Evra

Valencia - Fletcher - Carrick - Giggs

Rooney - Berbatov

So you have heard? You should at least watch football before you make comments like that jonney.

He's had some really serious stuff going on in his private life together with a few niggly injuries and due to various other things not been able to get a consistent run in the team to get his match-fitness and form back.

His assist for Valencia's goal against Wolves last week was world class and I'd hardly describe his form as poor, he's barely played.

Yeah and played quite well.

We wouldn't have won the league if he hadn't scored those matchwinning goals in tight games against Bolton and Boro for example.

Thats only true if you're talking about the last two seasons alone. And even then thats only cuz during that time, people focus more on Ronaldo's goals and not all the other stuff he did.
When you watch games in the last 5 years, more often than not our strategy was always "Pass it to Ronaldo". And then he'd bring the ball into more advanced areas where all the goals were scored. Earlier in his career he'd be the provider, but it was only when he started to become more confident and mature (after the WC2006 incident) that he started to score more goals. The point is, he's still the same type of player he always was, except now he's scoring goals so people assume he's "our finisher". He was just a provider who happened to be finishing very well. The only time he was actually played as a finisher was during the second half of last season I think, where he'd be played up front as a striker, sometimes even as the lone striker.

Now Rooney this year hasnt been given what you call the Ronaldo role. Rooney is quite clearly playing the Ruud role. But either way, you're right that he needs to be the provider again.

In other news Dioufylad got his work permit so he'll join up with the first team in January. Could the black Pele be the answer to all our problems? Lets hope so.

Adem Ljajic signed a deal with Rubin Kazan yesterday too, hopefully he'll do well for them. :)

Wow, so Ljajic to Kazan...bet we'll buy him in 3 years for 3 times the price...

Didn't realise Diouf was so young, only 22, hoping he can adjust to the league. Not sure when we'll see him though, given Macheda, Owen and Welbeck seem to fight it out in League cup matches.

We should have 4 defenders out against Hull hopefully, Allowing Carrick and Fletcher to play CM. Hopefully Berbatov and Rooney can get a string of games know.

Diouf will hopefully get a cameo role in the City games.

I doubt we'll sign Ljajic for 3 times the price mate if we couldn't afford to pay 10M for him, The fact we've pulled out and then bidded 9M + Nani for Di Maria tells you how much funds we have.

Its more likely that we rejected because: 1) He as been a key player for us and we are expected this season to win the league, losing him in January would be a disaster 2) Nani isn't really a player that: a) We like b) would fit well into our system c) isn't inteligent enough d) isn't worth the adaptation trouble.

For all that, and many more, we rejected the bid. Besides, our economy is quite healthy so we don't need to sell anyone. Neither Di Maria or David Luiz.

Nani is probably more talented than Di Maria, Things haven't worked out for Nani but maybe Di Maria might rise to the challenge at United unlike Nani.

Shit, Berbatov is supposedly injured for 3 months. That leaves us with Owen, Macheda and Wellbeck to partner Rooney upfront.

So who's back in defense anyway? Just the Da Silva brothers?

Obertan is a great potential that's true, but i m a Nani's fan, and tbh he is good it's only he is a bit lazy, if he works a bit more he'll be one of the best in the EPL...again Nani is god damn Talented :BOP:

and For Berba, His injuri hurts tbh, he was in form these dayz, besides he is one of my favs in the team. but i believe that Owen isn't that bad either and he prooved it and i have faith in him tbh, he'll do smth !:COOL:

The article about Berbatov just said he needs surgery and that he is playing through the pain. If he was to have the surgery he'd be out for 3 months and that's not happened so for now he's available.

And also it was the Sun so it might be complete bollocks.

I completely agree with what your saying but generally on the wings we are extremely thin. (considering Nani has been frozen out) currently we have Valencia, Obertan, Park and Giggs who has only played their due to lack of other options and is much better used centrally. We Generally need a LW and depending on how SAF feels about Berba/Rooney partnership a CF.

That was Wayne holding the game at the scruff of its neck.He ran the show without actually playing superbly.We needed that result to be honest to get us back into the fold.
