Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

He looks like a cunt in the same way that Ronaldo did. Hopefully the similarities wont end there. :))

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I bet Hargreaves was having surgery when the pic was taken

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Can we finally all agree that Berbatov is miles off the pace and he doesn't deserve a starting place?

No I'm not fucking using him as a fucking scapegoat before you all fucking say it. Everytime he got near the ball, he lost it, he did shit all and then had the cheek to have a go at Valencia when he misplaced a pass to him!?

Anyways, we were terrible. The forwards were awful, the midfield was none-existent and the defence was shaky as per usual this season.

Seems we've lost the ability to even compete in a match against Liverpool and that's just fucking sad.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Carrick and Scholes in a big game like that, doesn't work for me.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Berba lost it in te second half and was rightly subbed but before that he was one of our better players. Certainly gave more than Rooney was.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I think giving Scholes any sort of responsibility in a big match doesn't work, he should just be used in cup games and then retire to be honest.

Notice how much better Giggsy was in the middle? (albeit he was still fucking gash)

FUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK OFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

EVERY fucking time he got near the ball he lost it, complained, looked at other players and generally didn't give a shit. BECAUSE of him, Rooney had nothing to work with, especially considering most of the balls up front went to Berbatov. I'm not saying Rooney wasn't poor, because he was, but he sure as hell sparked up when Owen got on the pitch. Speaking of which, Owen, against Liverpool, why the hell didn't we start him!? He did more in that one little run behind Carragher and the pass to Valencia when he hit the bar than the other two did in over an hour or more.

More embarrassing is that lucas outshone both of them fucking lucas! Nigel reo coaker made him look like shit ffs

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

It's these kind of games that players make a name for themselves.

They should have expected that 'Pool would raise their game but no-one really looked like they wanted to grab the game and try and win it for us.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Dare I say you missed Fletcher. Carrick and Scholes were lethargic to say the least.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

No you're totally right, Fletcher playing and it might have been different. Carrick and Scholes couldnt cope with the constant pressing.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Fletcher and Giggs in the center is probably out best midfield pairing at the moment. Neither of them were there.
But to be fair, Giggs was forced out wide cuz with Nani and Valencia playing, you wouldn't have had anyone on the bench.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Why is anyone surprised? Rafa has turned Liverpool into the great levelers - whenever quality teams play them it's disjointed, poor football - often decided by a moment of genius from Torres. It's Rafa's way - football by numbers. If players try to express themselves, yell at them to get back into their preassigned area of the pitch. And if the opponents try to play football, foul them. By my count Lucas committed 9 fouls, no bookings, Evra, Berba and so forth get booked for nothing challenges.

I agree with Vida's red. I actually am starting to doubt if he's as good as people make him out to be. Good in the air, not so good anywhere else.

We weren't great, but that's because we played Liverpool. Give them credit where it's due. If it was Bolton we just played, everyone would moan about anti-football...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

It won't affect us in the long run but the team need to pull their finger out in these kind of big games.

I mean, what if we were to draw 'Pool in the CL knockout stages?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I was surprised Anderson didn't play.

Bring back the Ando-Hargo midfield partnership for big away games circa late 2007. :D

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Well I was suprised with the team sheet. Against the big sides we need someone to put their foot in and use their energy. Fletcher obviously was out so I expected Anderson to start or Giggs in the centre. Scholes and Carrick are both to static.

Nani should have started on the left IMO, I really think we missed a trick their as he's been very good against Johnson in the past and brings that "Spark" you need in big games.

Berba was fucking awful agreed Matherto but so was a lot of our players. Vidic is in shocking form, needs to get dropped for a game or 2 and he'll sort himself out.

Overall we just didn't pick the right team and the one we did pick was awful.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Anti-Football?

You were battered all over the pitch by a team low on confidence and "in crisis"

It wasnt a pretty demolition, but once again, like Anfield last year which team won the 50/50's and the aerial challenges. Liverpool.

Rooney's "chance" try to flick a tame cross that went behind him, and Valencia hitting the bar from an impossibly tight angle was all you could muster

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Was a great goal indeed.

Barnsley next, hope to see players like Obertan, Eikram and Tosic involved.

They've been great in the reserves this season.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

There were so negatives in the game but I will have to start with Rio Ferdinand. As much as I admire him as an idol,he is indeed losing his game recently. He just lost that bit of spring in him since his back problems started. He was too slow to read that run Torres made and was weak in the one v one.Rio needs to recover properly and should be given time off.

I am still not convinced that Valencia is good enough to play for us.Most of the game he would just walk by the touchline without making any sort of runs and when he got the ball,he didnt look like he wanted it.When he does,he would gave one or two body feints and crosses it with his right peg.Rookie Insua had it figured out all game.

I thought Carrick and Scholes did well in the first half but faded away in the second.Changes should have been made earlier and we certainly did miss Ando or Fletcher. We were alright in the middle but we lacked that tenacity.

Its always hurts to lose but this one takes the cake for now.
Hope the kids would bring some joy against Barnsley on tuesday.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I personally thought that Carrick and Vidic were our better players yesterday (I'm not saying 'best'!). Carrick was playing the holding role and intercepting a la Fletcher, but when the rest of the team were poor it didn't really matter.
Vidic was winning everything in the air, and putting some good tackles in before that getting sent off.
Bad defending between him & Rio allowed Torres in to score - you just can't let a player like that ghost in between you or you get punished.

The things that bothered me yesterday were:
Scholes couldn't handle being pressured, and kept losing possession - a sign that age is becoming a factor?
Berbatov. At times he can look great, but not yesterday. I'm starting to think it's a communication issue. So many times he'll play a ball and no-one is there, and he'll have a go for someone not reading it. Some times it pays to keep it simple...

The ref not being consistent didn't help either. Evra was booked after his second foul (not sure the first one was a foul anyway, but there you go), while I lost count of how many Lucas made.
Carragher should have gone after taking down Owen. No other defenders were near him, and Owen would have been through on goal. Denied goalscoring opportunity = red card.

That said, we're still second and pretty much on par with Chelsea & Arsenal, so not all doom and gloom...

Roll on tomorrow. If our youngsters impress, hopefully they can push members of the first team for a place. Might help get rid of any complacency...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I wouldnt say Berba was as bad as people here are making him out to be. One of the things I liked about him was that when he had to make choices, he always went for the more riskier but progressive/attacking option using fancy flicks and touches rather than the safe pass back towards his own goal. Yes we lost possession because of that and overall it made him look like a liability at times but when he got his attack going with Rooney, it felt like something's missing. We desperately need a 3rd attacker who can keep up with them two and we lost that in Ronaldo and Tevez of course. This kind of made me understand why Park is favoured so much cuz even he could have been enough cuz Park is also capable of running from box to box to complete a counter attack. Valencia and Nani never seem to do that for us.
I dont know what kind of energy levels Obertan has so I cant consider him at the moment so IMO, our best option would be to some how stick Rooney, Owen and Berba on at the same time with maybe Wellbeck or Kiko on the bench. In my head I'm picturing Owen and Berba has the main front pairing with Rooney free roaming and picking up the pieces. I know Rooney was promised the main striker's role but it just isnt working.
