Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I thought Rooney was level, good finish as well. Wasn't the best of games, quite a few mistakes and thought Evra was a bit of a prick for his attitude. Yeh Ballack blocked him, but he didn't touch his face in any way and Evra went down like a sack of shit holding his nose/mouth, the ref played on and United lost the ball, tough shit. About 2 minutes before it the ref stopped the game for a similar incident on Ballack and the United players were all moaning at the ref for not playing on, you can't have it all your own way.

Essien was poor today i thought, every time he came forward with the ball he lost it, Anelka was shit as well.

Bonus points go to Evra for one of the worst penalties i've seen for a long time, i can't understand why he was taking one with Owen, Rooney, Scholes and Valencia all on the pitch.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

@ UJ - I agree, it wasn't his face but it was a foul. And I also agree the referee played the advantage which United lost. I'd have no problem with it if it wasn't that it was the only Chris Foy did that. He made United stop play when they were attacking in the final third because Ballack was sitting down. Did the same a couple times in the first half.

The only too times he doesn't stop play is when Nani (probably) broke his collarbone, and when Evra cut deliberately blocked off.

It's the consistency more than the decisions.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Good performances, most notably by Nani, Berba, Fletcher, Rooney and Evra.

Looking forward to the start of the Prem.

yeh you're probably right, i just cant stand any player who goes down holding their face when no contact was made, for me, when a player does that, the decision should instantly go against them.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Bad luck lads, crap ref. Only saw the second half so missed Valencia's performance as he was just getting subbed when I turned on, how did he do?

Anyway, guess that will make it even harder to win an unprecedented Quadruple this year. :D

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I thought Ballack changed the game today when he came on.

MOM IMO.

Valencia was pretty much a passenger when he came on imo, didn't do much at all. He looked like he wanted to kill someone for some reason :LOL:

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Thought we did ok, Our first choice keeper and centre half missing, also playing the 4th choice right back against debatably the strongest team in the premiership who were at full strength.Nani played well and I'm gutted that he'll miss a few weeks with a popped shoulder.
great sportsmanship from fat frank the hump backed cunt.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

First it was Ole, then Gary and now Hargo. There's always that one player whose time with us is ruined with injuries.
I read that NOTW article this morning but I'm hoping they're just talking bullshit like they always do.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I don't think tendonitis is one of those injuries that will just piss off though.

I think it's one of those things thats either there, but doesn't bother you and slowly gets worse, or it just has periods where it causes you horrible pain.

I don't think he'll ever be rid of it.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Spare Evra some thought...he is a big dog for a small man...i mean,he is as tall as Ballack's shoulders yet he dared to clash against the big german...played superbly too.

I'm not upset with the result. It was the right for the 90 minutes.Referee was fuckin inconsistant, maybe it was that tight top he got on? Top finish by Rooney and yes he would have missed it usually.Honestly,Chelsea wasnt as potent as with their 4-3-3..and that made Drogba less efficient too.

Looks like Carrick and Fletcher will run the centre this season, largely with Ando,Scholes and Giggs as replacements.

Let the 15th roll on now...we're looking good.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Last thing I'm going to say about this, watch the video: http://www.youtube.com/v/e55sUA1N_5A

And then try to understand this: "Foy has confirmed he saw the incident clearly and acted as he saw fit, leaving the FA to declare the matter closed."

So the Ref admits he saw Ballack do that, but decided it wasn't a foul? (he didn't play the advantage as everyone initially thought, he turned his back on it and walked away)

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Its only a Community Shield anyway, I rather the ref fuck us over in this then a big game.

Nani claims he could be back for next week which is great news. I hope we start this season well, I dunno what it is that makes us have a shit start but we need to start well more often then we do.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Foy is clearly a bellend after that comment. What a tit. I understand that if he says he made a mistake it could leave him open to being dropped etc but that is clear as fucking day and the man should be ashamed. He clearly sided with Ballack over the whole thing as he stopped play when he was down, went to give him a kiss and make sure he was alright, when the situation is reversed he waves play on, then he assumes Paddy was trying to nail Ballack from then on and so booked him for that tackle when he clearly got the ball.

What a penis.

Hopefully Nani's right about his injury, he reckons he can play for Portugal midweek!!!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Never near his face!! Certainly caught him in the upper chest neck area but no face.

Red specks off Fergie

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

What's happened has happened. Lets move on. Seeing how it was more of a "friendly" than a proper competitive game, I was more concerned with how we play and how much momentum we pick up from the game.
So far its looking good. And I was glad to see Rooney on the scoresheet, more so because of the way he scored it. I was a bit concerned with how deep Berba was playing at times though. For me, Berba is like a midfielder playing in the last third of the pitch with the way he controls the ball and passes it around. But with him playing so deep, he was basically just a midfielder. We need him to be linking up more with either Rooney or Owen to make the most of him.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Actually, it's only a foul if the ref blows for it ;)

Anyway.

Foster is hurt again. I have faith in his ability, but I'm now worried about his temperament and injury record. Then again he did take a pretty healthy thump from Drogba, so maybe to be expected.

If he's not to be our number 1, Fergie better be shopping sharpish.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Has anyone seen a gif of the Berbatov bring down v. Terry, Cole and Mikel in the second half? It's just ridiculous. Can't find it anywhere...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Berbatov was definitely playing much further forward, I think he did well but if theirs 2 things I'd want from him now are demanding the ball more and shooting more often.

To be honest, I missed the whole first half and only caught the second but from what I saw, there wasnt as much attacking play from us as a whole and Berba was tracking back a few times as well.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Yeh the whole team faded in the 2nd half but in the first he did very well. O'Shea's got a habit of doing that. Doubt he'll beat the Figo one though.
