Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I don't think he's that good to be honest.

Not for the 35 million Valencia are rumoured to want for him anyways.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Might do with the fact that we're playing Valencia this Wednesday that the media always stir some crap up...a match im attending by the way:)

oh dear oh dear... guy is amazing.. he could replace ronaldo on the left, he is a geat setup man has a wicked left foot and hepled villa score most of his goals

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Tomorrow night should be interesting. First time we'll line up our 'First XI' if such a thing exists. I really, really hope it's a 442, just makes the most sense to me with our personnel. Given that Fletcher is refusing to head out to Scotland duty next week, I'd imagine he'll be rewarded with a spot, so we're likely to line up:

------------VDS-----------
--Wes--Rio---Vida(fit?)-Pat
------Carrick--Fletcher---
--Valencia--------Nani----
----Berbatov--Rooney------

Anyone seen Valencia (the team...this is going to be confusing) much lately? How do they line up? Will they match this or go with one up top?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Well they sold Morientes and I dont think Zigic features much for them so I suppose it'll be Villa upfront supported by Mata and/or Silva. They're a bit light upfront.

Maybe im wrong but from what I've seen he's very overrated, He's a good player but the definition of inconsistency is him. He hardly ever plays on the wing nor has the pace for it. he's best played behind the CF. We already have Berbatov, Rooney, Anderson and Giggs who can play that role.

I think they play 4231 (Same as us)

--------Sanchez----------
Maduro(?)Marchena-Alexis-Mathieu
--------Baraja-Albelda-------
-Joaquín----Silva------Mata
----------Villa-------------

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

It'll be very telling to see if Giggs starts. Fergie needs to let his younguns fly or fall this season...we know that Ryan can handle it but we don't know if Ando can. Guess we'll see.

Oh and Scholes has not looked good enough in preseason/end of last year. Will be interesting to see if he ever starts :(

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Think Silva is overrated myself. Not that he's inconsistent, but he's never been a player to stand out. He's a player who'll keep possession, move the ball about, and play some nice passes. But he'll never be the one to really influence a game, and make his mark. He's a supporting player IMO. He does have loads of talent though. Maybe needs a manager to give him a bit more confidence.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

From what I have seen of Silva during the Euros...he is a fantastic little player.I'm not sure he is naturally left footed though.I dont think he crosses a lot, more of cutting in and shoots with his right peg.Dribbles a lot too.Not sure if he has the built for the premiership but I said the same about Robinho.Heh.David Silva would definitely boost our squad if he is signed...but it has to be for the right price.

Abhi...Looks like we will share the same loss.We lost Ronaldo and you lost Alonso now.Cheers.Best passer in the Premiership is gone.

He is definitely a leftie bro. Though not useless with his right like a lot of them are. And yah he is a very good player.

Wouldn't be overly concerned about his 'physique', though I can see why that's THE 1st thing that would pop into anybody's head when they see him. It did with me too and he fooled me. The guy is a lot tougher than he 'looks'. Lol I remember the first time I saw him, he was on loan at Celta at the time (A few years ago) and I was like, who the hell is this little kid lol... what does he weight? 45kg? he looks like he should be playing in an U-18 skinny kids league lol.

But soon found out how wrong I was :D

People used to give Benayoun shit about his physique too and how skinny he is and how he even looks like a junkie lol but I always believed in Yossi because he also is stronger than he looks and has 'enough' strength to be effective and I think by now he's proven a lot of people wrong. Somebody similar in a lot of ways to Silva is Messi of course. Left-footed, short, tricky, agile, skinny and both very effective despite a lack of supposed 'strength/size'.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

The one for me is Giggs. Doesn't look like much, but apparently he is an absolute power machine.

Don't think we'll go for Silva. Like it or not I think Fergie is settled with his squad, and he's going to try to do it his way. Maybe it won't work, but at least we'll all know he gave his players a chance.

Massive two months for Ben Foster. He's old enough that nerves shouldn't bother him, so let's see what you can do big Ben. Grab a few clean sheets and the jersey is yours, miss a few crosses and you're done at the very top. Tough game, but it's not made for the feint of heart...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

He has to go with Foster. Though I think it's all a bit unfair on Thomas ot be honest - he's actually been pretty good everyime I've seen him play. The only time he 'let us down' was when he got sent off against Pompey in teh FA Cup two seasons ago - which was a 'Rob Styles' special day of awful decisions.

But Foster is English, was simply awesome at Watford and should be our new number 1. So sort it out Ben!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Great video, Giggs has been absolutely amazing over the past 12 months, He's probably more consistent now then ever before in his career.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

It'll be a sad, sad day when he decides to retire, same for Scholesy and Nev.

Three players that I've grown up watching since I was two or three years old, almost unthinkable to consider a United squad without them really.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Really looking forward to seeing how this new tactical system works out next season, having seen the success and fluid, attacking football we played with a similar system when RvN left.

Great chance for Foster to stake his claim for the England No.1 jersey, hope he takes it.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Full lineups:

United: Foster; De Laet, Ferdinand, Evans, Evra; Valencia, Carrick, Fletcher, Tosic; Rooney, Owen.
Substitutes: Kuszczak, Anderson, Berbatov, Giggs, Nani, Scholes, Fabio, O'Shea, Gibson, Cleverley, Macheda.

Valencia: Sanchez; Saltor, Navarro, Dealbert, Mathieu; Joaquin, Baraja, Albelda, Michel; Mata, Villa.
Substitutes: Moya, Madura, Marchena, Carleto, Vicente, Banega, Hernandez, Alexis, Silva, Miguel, Miku.

Only surprises there for me are De Laet, Tosic, and Owen.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

De Laet has been brilliant. Good defending, great going forward. He could be a really useful player for us, he played left back against Hull at the end of last season so is versatile too.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Valencia has been outstanding. :APPLAUD:

Good old fashioned winger, quick, beats defenders and puts in a great cross.
