Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

After he got his work permit, he was stalling the move to City where there were rumours he tried to move to Milan. I wouldnt be surprised if his agent around the other top three teams in England as well.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

No it was just United and Chelsea from this country because although Emmanuel is in it for the money, he specifically told his agent he wouldn't move to Merseyside as he wants to at least have a chance of winning the league next season.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Yeah and when Rafa said it he was using it to deflect the attention away from the team for failing to win a match they were expected to (that's not like him is it :WOOT: )!

Everton were winning leagues in the 80s and they've won the FA Cup recently, whereas City have won nothing for over 30 years and SAF was responding to a question about the classy picture of Tevez erected in the city centre.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Half time in the last match of the tour and we're winning 4-0.

Two more goals for Owen, with Berba and Tosic getting the other 2.

:)

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Nani 5-0 quality finish been some great goals Owen second lovely pass from Berbatov and great finish. :))

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Fuck me Berba makes it look so easy, the 4th was pure magic :DD. 8-2 FT was good entertainment.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

highlights anyone? goddamn asian tour, all these games getting played at ungodly hours.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

If anyone can find full highlights there's a few bits I'd like to see again (Anderson and Evra x2 hitting the post).

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

who still thinks berbatov is gonna be a flop after that? i know its a against a shit team but still, some of that was amazing. this is going to be a good season.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Me and YG have always stood by him. Everyone else can go swivel :D.

Interesting point, Fabio played rightback today. As we know, he's naturally right footed like his brother but it seems we've actually got 5 first team players who can play there (7 if you include Hargreaves and if we dont sell Simpson), is that too much competition for places?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

That second Owen goal was amazing. Gotta hand it to both Owen and Berba for that one. :WORSHIP:

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Those highlights made me think MU's the team to beat this new season. Sublime performance.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Interesting quote by Fergie regarding Berba:

“I also expected the form we’ve seen from Berbatov. Last season was a strange one for him and we maybe didn’t use him in the right way, but we know exactly how to use him now – further up the pitch, playing as a centre forward.”

That'll be if Rooney starts up front, won't it? Because I can't see him playing as the lead striker if Owen starts up front with him.

But in some of his first season and most of his second season at Spurs, he played behind Keane.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Thinking about where Berba and Rooney will play will always confuse us for years I think. We might have to wait till the season kicks off to see how its gonna work.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

He was definitely playing further up the field in the first 45 when he simply ran the show. 2nd I think he dropped deep when Rooney came on which was interesting. I think Owen and Berba is a more natural partnership than Rooney and Berba but I think all combinations we have can work well.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Yeah, I kinda thought it would turn out that way too. Owen/Berba and Owen/Rooney seemed more natural than Rooney/Berba.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Fergie the hypocrite cracking up?

He's come out and had a go at City and Liverpool already. Calling City a "arrogant, small club with a small mentality" after slating Rafa for his small club comment about Everton smacks of hypocrisy. Now he's had a go at Rafa again.

Is whiskeynose cracking up?

The benefit of being Fergie is when you're labelled as cracking up, you still go on to win things. I'd never argue about him being a nice man, or particularly media savvy, but he's the best manager in the modern era.

If you'd like to label Fergie a hypocrite, that's fine. I'll put him into the 'managers that have made hypocritical statements' bucket. With every single other manager that has ever lived.

If I were you I'd be more worried about making this 'your year'. Because I honestly believe that with the momentum, players and general situation of other teams this will be your one shot at it. Fail and some of your 'world class spine' will likely think it's not worth the effort, plus the only two nailed on pool players (Gerrard and Carragher) aren't exactly getting any younger. I still think you can win the league, particularly if Rafa cops out of the other competitions to focus, which will result in a schedule similar to last year for you - 1 game every 10 games in show in crunch time. Not that it helped.

I'll give my verdict at the end of the window but if they manage to lose Alonso and possibly Masch then I think they'll be fighting for 3rd with Arsenal*.

*Depends on who they bring in if anyone

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

That would acutally be awesome. I'm sure he could be of use to United.

I think you couldn't be more wrong.

I love the guy, he was my hero growing up, I modelled by game on him, but seriously? He's so far off the pace nowadays and he really wouldn't suit the way we play.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I know United play fast pace football nowaydays, but look when we're playing Fletcher or Gibson on the right wing. We're not relying on them to outpace everyone and dribble their way through. They're there to provide the strikers with good balls. Beckham is perfect in that role.

That said, I'm not saying he should automatically get a first-eam place in the team. I'd rather have Park, Nani or Valencia who are more versatile and fast players. But Beckham would be a good option in games where we are in control.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

And unlike some players (I'm not singling anyone out), he actually loves this club.
But yeah, I'm thinking exactly what Ogami said. We play guys like Fletcher on the right wing anyway so Beckham could work too. You're right Matherto about his pace but lets not forget that with Tevez and Ronaldo gone, (like Rio said) we're gonna be a more tighter team and Beckham is someone who would work with that kind of mentality cuz he can sit deep in midfield but also provide long balls.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Doubt it, he'll spend the entire season in the treatment room and barely make 10 appearances.....
