Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I think Matherto is using the logic of "We used to hammer Ronaldo, Hopefully if we do the same to Nani he'll turn out amazing" :))

Good game today, Seoul gave us a good go going 1-0 and then 2-1. Nani actually did play well when he came on today, had some good runs and seemed to do well. We looked a well balanced side so far going into the season.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Aww C'mon Matt...That IS harsh...I wouldnt say its the whole truth though.
Nani is a good player. He is decent enough to make it as a starter for any other premiership sides.I know we are ALL hoping he would bloom like Ronaldo did.He certainly has the potential,as fit as a bull.An extended run in the first team this coming season would do him good.Ronaldo was his barrier before and now he is gone,I certainly hope Nani can show his true colours.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

But since when did nani begin to be called a bad player? i don't get it. He barely played last season how do you expect to play when you have ronaldo on your position and rooney on the other side?

Give it a break, let him play and get some confidence because you guys seem to have never played football in your life. Its ESSENTIAL to play in order to gain confidence and show good exhibitions, nani didn't play 2 consecutive matches through all season how can you build up confidence like that?

Be fair to him, i'm not a fan of his show but i can't understand the Nani is awful, a disgrace, should be sold talking, it just isn't fair.

Nani was bad last season. Period. I understand that he lacked confidence, but that my friend is a major flaw in Nani. He didn't have character. When you're on a bad roll, you have to take your chances and show what you can do in order to impress. He's been given some chances last season and never delivered a good performance. That's the main difference between him and players like Ronaldo, that hunger that makes you want to be the best.

Now, I think his first season was pretty good. He has what it takes to be a good player, but as long as he doesn't sort what's in his head, he can never be that player. With Ronaldo gone, I believe the time is right for him.

Oh, and not playing regularly is no excuse. Players like Park, Giggs or Fletcher manage to pull good performances when not playing weak in, weak out. His problem was always his confidence.

By the way, I never said he should be sold. He's the kind of players that will always be of use to United. He's young and can still develop under SAF. I'm not for kicking out players when they're having a hard time.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

well said ogami, i think its a confidence thing as well. that said some players need to play regularly to have that confidence, hopefully like you said this season he can do that.

anybody have highlights of the game today?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Heads up to United fans who want a glimpse of Ljajic, hes playing for Serbia U19 right know on Eurosport. He;s playing the right :))

It's tough love :P

And does anyone find it slightly worrying the amount of goals we're conceding against sides like this?

I know it's pre-season and the players aren't fit, but still...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Seoul's goals were both good goals, and one of the Malaysian goals was unstoppable...only one resulted from poor play so I'm not too worried.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Fucking love this commentator, he was on the stream I watched for the first match of the tour. He sounds like a safari tour guide in the 1950's or something.

That Serbian guy who scored their goals looks pretty good, I'm sure he could cut it in a bigger league than South Korea. Class finish for the second goal.

Macheda's goal showed how cool he is infront of goal, maybe he's more ready than we all thought?!?

And Berb's header was a beast!

Loved the commentating as well. I thought the guy was about to start crying after Sir Bobby Charlton talked to him in the commentating booth. :P

Macheda was very good indeed. They way he showed such composure in front of goals is not something you see a lot with 17 year-old boys. And it's also not that often that we see Wazza and Berba score headers.

Certainly looks that way. He really surprised me with how cool he's been and looks like he doesnt let the pressure of the occasion get to him. I think the fact that he even attempted "that goal" against Villa proves this.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

 Watched it on MUTV so missed it, Hes no Ray Hudson though. I think Macheda's a great option to have off the bench similar to Owen accept he's much more of a handful with his build.

If you think Macheda's good then wait to see Welbeck :... Were just overflowing with potential at the moment, Saying that realistically only half of them will turn out to be as good as we hope though.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I salute Macheda's composure and finish but what about that 40 yarder pass from Rooney?! His vision and pass for a centre forward is sublime...

Just taken notice that most of our goals from this Asia Tour comes in off crosses. If that is the play we are going for,I think its back to the usual 442 next season.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

was there for the match
very entertaining game, but thought park would get subbed in on the half...everyone was sooo anxious for his introduction lol
all in all good game, it's a friendly but you guys looked shaky at the back

also the half time show was amazing ;)

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Are you sure about that?

I don't get the fuss about Wellbeck at all to be honest, I can actually see something in Macheda that makes me think 'maybe' he can do it at the highest level, but I've not seen it in Danny.

Unless I'm completely missing something?

Thats something i noticed as well, in the end, you win but you concede from simple crosses one of the most basic ways of the English football.

You better sort your defence because that can cost you a spot on the table.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

 We have the best defence in Europe, That should be the least of our worries. Welbeck is a much better prospect than Macheda IMO Matherto, He has so much ability. Pace, Dribbling, Touch he has it all. Macheda's an out and out striker. bit like comparing Henry and Ruud.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

From what I have seen...Welbeck has more touch and dribbles than Macheda but the latter has the art of finishing in his young legs. Then again,Sir Alex has the balls to sell Frazier Campbell, whom I think is a smashing forward...so obviously he has faith in Welbeck and Macheda. Its gonna be a massive season for the both of them nonetheless.Danny has Dwight Yorke's number and I hope Kiko will be given a proper first team number rather than the shitty 41.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I think the 'lowest' squad numbers we have free are 27 & 30, so he might as well keep his current one. The good thing about that is that giving him a number with history (ie. 20) would put a bit more pressure on him, and considering he's only 17 it might be overwhelming.

That said Anelka always has 39...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Yeah let him make 41 special :D

Diouf wears 32 for Molde so I think he should have that when he comes in January.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

So after the flak that Benitez got for calling Everton a small club, will Ferguson get the same for calling City a small club?

"He (Benitez) called them a small club, which points to his arrogance."

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Well Benitez got it off Everton fans, so I imagine City fans will be annoyed but nobody else, maybe you bitters will be too just because of the injustice of it all ;).

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

So what happened with Gerrard anyway? ;)

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

SAF is allowed to be arrogant because he is the most decorated manager in the country, winning more titles and cups than anyone else.

Rafa at that point had only been here a couple of years and with not a lot to his name so arrogance is NOT PERMITTED.

:D ;)
