The way I see it, after everything they "achieved" from that list this year, they still couldnt win the title. So what is it gonna take from them next year to stop us?
This season was their best chance in years and Rafa blew it (especially after that famous rant)

Let's move on from Liverpool talk lads, We've got a Champions League to defend! :DD Fitting how 10 years ago today we were crowned Champions of Europe and the nice irony of 10 years on and were still Champions of Europe :))

Well yes their the players that keep you ticking over, The same goes for us in the likes of Carrick, Rooney and Anderson on the night will be key to how we perform. But when it comes to breaking through I believe Henry will worry us more than Messi because less attention will be on Henry.

I don't think we'll have a huge aerial threat apart from set peices which we can easily score from with Ronaldo, Vidic and Ferdinand all extremely good in the air.

BTW do you think Iniesta and Henry will be 100% fit? Im sure they'll both play but at what percentage of their ability. Worryingly same goes for Rio.

Really can't tell how this match is going to go. Pretty nervous to be honest. With Rio half-fit and really not having much game time under his belt over the past few months, I can't help but think we'll conceed chances, moreso if we try to do what we did last year and sit deep. Henry is class, and won't be phased by the occasion, so I agree that he's probably the most likely to score. I think Messi will attract a lot of attention, and is due a big performance, but my real worry is the space that will be created by marking him tightly.

It would be nice to see us go out on the front foot for once and try to play our game against Barca, but I don't see it happening. I see Giggsy sitting on the edge of the centre circle looking to pick up and distribute balls to Ronaldo, who will be playing isolated on the shoulder of the last defender the whole match.

I see it as a 3-1 victory to Barca, but a very close one, with us being denied at least 2 one on ones by rubbish offside decisions.

Im sure Ive said this before but how often has Ronaldo been wrongly given offside FFS! The linesman needs to be on his game, Im sure Ronnie will time one right hopefully the Lino gets it right

It's not just been Ronaldo - I honestly believe we've had a dozen wrong one on one decisions go against us this season. And fair enough, we wouldn't have scored them all, but could have been some big game changing moments.

Works the same way for the opposition - Villa were through twice and had both incorrectly ruled offside.

Annoys me to no end, given it is explicitly in the rules to give the advantage to the attacker. That almost never, ever happens, because linesmen are more likely to err on the side of caution. I don't know how technolgy could be used to make those decisions in real time, but my lord that would help!

Technology could have been used years ago. FIFA are just stalling the idea for no reason whatsoever. How hard can it be to implement? Its like how products in a supermarket are tagged so that once you walk inbetween the posts at the entrance with something in your hand, the alarm goes off. You're telling me supermarkets all over the world use something like this but we can't install something similar on a football pitch? You can easily do the same by having some kind of sensor on wristbands or boots to work out if someone is offside or not. But we'll never see that either.

Fifa still want the game to be the same at grass roots as it is at the top level, this is why they are loathed to alter things, and in an ideal world that would work. Unfortunately with all the play acting lying and cheating going on it's become impossible.

It is also now big business not just Football and they will apply the pressure to get whatever they want in the end...

Gonna start drinking at 2 so whatever happens I'll probably be happy...

3:45 am for me. I'm driving to Okayama City to watch it in a bar with some of my students. Shit that I can't drink but sitting with 3 female university students will make up for it... especially if we win and they're drunk.

no his squad number is 6, but he's Villa's 62nd England capped player, there's other promotional posters with Agbonlohor wearing 66, Ashley Young 65 and Emile Heskey 67. Apparently Villa have had more England Internationals than any other club.

the away kit is supposed to be a bit of a nod to the traditional England kit.

My money is on Man Utd to win, because Barca can only play one way and they cry when they can't play it. Add to that, 3/4s of their back line are missing and if closed down, Messi again will go missing. So it's got to be Utd. Although the ref and Uefa may have a say. ;)
Not bothered who wins though, but i want to be entertained, so 6 goals at least please. I will be awarding prizes for the most elaborate dive of the night too.

It was a bloke by all accounts in his leg, he discharged himself from hospital, unfortunately even if whoever's fans are behind it gun down ten Manchester UTD fans in cold blood in their beds, FIFA will point the finger our way and most likely ban us from Europe...

Sep and Platini are just praying for trouble to boot us, I'm surprised they did not change the venue once they knew a British club would be in the final to Kabul...;)

@ Prof - My head says United have an advantage, my gut says Barca will nick it. Like I said before, I agree with you that the ref will be very important. From the Chelsea match it's claer the barca players love a dive (though at least the descipable antics of alves will be missing from the final) and if he constantly blows it'll ruin the spectacle.

Matt, what does that have to do with anything? As if there are no brainless hooligans in Istanbul or London?
Get the facts straight, a lot of Man U fans broke the prohibition and started causing havoc.
There are always 2 parties in cases like these and I find it downright unfair if you were to blame the city or its inhabitants for it.

I don't think its anything at all. Sky are trying to make a big deal about it.

I seriously hope we start the game well, I think the first 15 will be crucial as long as we settle down without going down a goal I believe we can get in. another worry is Rio and Vidic for once in the biggest blue moon having a off day and Barca finding to much room to work with. Try and get as many corners, freekicks and crosses in.

it's kinda sad to say this.... but matherto's point is pretty much unquestionable. roma should have not hosted this final.

of course hooligans are everywhere, mate, but this is not about hooligans (italians or english)... this isn't even about football fans... this is a matter of habits.
my club, as almost every club in the world, has its own share of unpolite supporters... we too have our ultras groups.... and yet NEVER (at least since i was born) palermo (the city or the fans) has been involved in theese kind of situations.

i'm absolutely sure man utd too has its own share of uncivilized supporters.... but i can't see going to old trafford as a "dangerous task"... and the same goes for palermo, or sevilla, or bordeaux or madrid.... real madrid's ultras, for instance, the ultrasur... they're nothing but a bunch of stupid facists.... but going to the santiago bernabeu isn't really dangerous for your life.

being stabbed by those thugs who wander around the stadio olimpico during matchdays became something almost ordinary in roma in the last 3 years. and that's a fact :(

i know roma and the romani pretty well... and i love it (as everyone who actually ever saw roma..... except football fans from abroad, i guess). it's one of the most beautiful places i've ever seen, and the people is nice aswell..... but i have to admit, i wouldn't have a walk near the olimpico stadium in sunday :(
