Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 18 Times and Thats a FACT!!!

Their just bitter lads :)) After all their 18 years of "But we've won it 18 times" is over and with us approaching a possible 4 their cracking up much like their manager :DD

Let them bring in the mighty Stuart Downing and claim him to be "potentially" better than Ronaldo and it being their year!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 18 Times and Thats a FACT!!!

Anyone else notice that United have to take some kicks in the bollocks to win the league! ?

06/07 - Arsenal
07/08 - Man City
08/09 - Liverpool

Bitter and closest rivals having to take 6 points away but not stopping the machine rolling onto success!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 18 Times and Thats a FACT!!!

Can't really blame them. I know I'd crack if it had been that long since we won the league and then came that close.

But ya gotta laff though innit?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 18 Times and Thats a FACT!!!

We've always underachieved in Europe, whether it be due to the Munich air disaster, the foreigners ruling during the 90s, overconfidence after having won the treble or being a team in transition during the Djemba/Kleberson/Bellion years. Hopefully we can do this club justice and retain the big one, as well as win it again in the near future.

West Ham in 06/07 as well. :BOP:

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 18 Times and Thats a FACT!!!

see this is why people don't take you seriously. You've got to actually know your history before you can brake it ;)

Hahahaha..typical bitter muppet...you must be feeling really stupid now do you? Nuff said...

Thanks lads for backing me up...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 18 Times and Thats a FACT!!!

football est 1992. Okay then m8, you've only won 2 European Cups :D

Most people call it the European Cup, its the same bloody trophy that has be handed out for over half a century, thus it is the same competition and I think you'll find that:

Real Madrid
Benfica
Inter
Ajax
Bayern
Liverpool

and.....Nottingham Forrest

have completd the feat.

You can't just make history up, leave that to Chelsea.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 18 Times and Thats a FACT!!!

How dumb are you? Everyone clearly stated CHAMPIONS LEAGUE. When was there a CHAMPIONS LEAGUE before 92?
We already know you understand what we really meant. Its just sad how you're ignoring it on purpose to prove a point.

Does it make a difference? Does it make a difference to call the Carling Cup, the Milk Cup or Worthington Cup?

Come on, you know better than that. Fair dues to United, they deserve where they are, but lot's not say no club ever won the Champions League consecutive years, because they have, whether it was called European Cup or whatever. It's just a fact.

That would mean you've only won the CL once, never a league title in sight might I add. We ARE on course to make history if we retain the CL by being the first ever team to do it.

Your just embarrasing yourself mate. :))

This sums up the Liverpool lads in here.

Downing would still be better than soddin Nani ;)

Same as you then ;)

1 Champions League, 1 UEFA Cup.

Unless of course, you meant the European Cup on it's own, in which case, we're better than you :P

Downing would still be better than soddin Nani ;)

A guy with no arms and legs would be better than Nani to be completely honest...

So I suppose whoever wins the Europa League won't be making history next season? Or did Shakhtar not make history by winning the last UEFA Cup? Or did you guys not make history by winning the LEAST LEAGUE GAMES LOST IN THE WHOLE OF THE WIDE WIDE WORLD ZOMG1!!! trophy?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 18 Times and Thats a FACT!!!

Let it go lads...leave them gloating about their past.We dont need that here.Ignorance is bliss indeed.sic.

Saw clips of the lads training today as the media was invited into Carrington.Lots of our starlets in that training session too...perhaps simmering them up for Hull? Premiership chief Richard Scudamore is backing our boss all the way to 'exercise rotation',putting it nicely indeed.A weakened team against Hull,yes....a weak team? Definitely not.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 18 Times and Thats a FACT!!!

The whole thing that we are playing a team of 14 year olds is wide of the mark I think. I expect Kuzsacksksak, Rafael, Neville, probably Rio or Evans, Fabio, Fletcher, Scholes, Tevez/Berbatov, Macheda, Welbeck and Nani will at least play some part. Every single one of those would get in the Hull team so all this shit being stirred up in the media is bollocks.

Funniest thing is, the last person to score a winning goal for Hull was our man Manucho who of course is ineligable to play!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 18 Times and Thats a FACT!!!

what do you guys think of manucho? saw him play for hull, didn't impress me all that much. he seems quite dirty as well..i guess he's perfect for you guys?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 18 Times and Thats a FACT!!!

He's shit so you lot will probably buy him, not play him, then sell him a year later.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 18 Times and Thats a FACT!!!

You heard him. (or read him, or it).

Does it make a difference? Does it make a difference to call the Carling Cup, the Milk Cup or Worthington Cup?

But back then, it wasnt called the Champions League. So when someone says Champions League, they mean the competition. If someone was talking about what you're saying, they'd refer to it as the European Cup. Can't you tell the difference?

Downing would still be better than soddin Nani ;)
That desperation pic is so much more fitting after that post.

Where did you see those clips please mate ?

Onto the game on Sunday, what a bastard of a situation and all because they are fighting relegation this team selection talk fires up. I wish it was a game against someone mid table then noone would have brought up this play a "weakened" side stuff up

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 18 Times and Thats a FACT!!!

What gets me is that the media are comparing it to Tevezgate. Should our 'weakened' side (the one that went to penalties in the FA Cup semi final) be beaten then the teams that are relegated are allowed to sue us because it's the same scenario.

It's not. Tevezgate was because of player registration. Not because teams can't admit to being so sh*t through the season that they are looking to blame someone else.

For that reason I hope we beat Hull, and Newcastle & Boro lose their games.

Harry Redknapp got it spot on in the Sun earlier in the week. The bottom teams should be blaming their results this season, not the Champions who should field who they like ahead of their biggest game of the season.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 18 Times and Thats a FACT!!!

Manchester United have been given special dispensation by UEFA to turn one half of Rome's Olympic Stadium into a stunning tribute to the late Sir Matt Busby before next Wednesday's Champions League final against Barcelona.

After discussions with European football's governing body, Sir Alex Ferguson and his players will walk out before the game to be greeted by a 16,000-piece mural covering the whole of the Curva Nord that will pay tribute to Busby, who would have been 100 years old the day before the final.

The mosaic - held up by United's travelling fans - will spell out 'For Sir Matt' and will include a stunning portrait of the man from whom current United manager Ferguson and his players have always taken much of their inspiration.

It is destined to become one of the lasting images of a final that could yet see United become the first team to defend the trophy in the competition's modern form.

Last night United chief executive David Gill confirmed the plan, which came courtesy of the Stretford End Flags Group.

Gill said: 'We wanted to do something to mark Sir Matt's 100th birthday and we were approached by the fans with an idea that would recognise the role he had played in the club's unique place in Europe.

'Alex liked the idea straight away. The mosaic will remind millions of people around the world what a great man Sir Matt was.'

Busby won the club their first European Cup in 1968 and died in 1994. United won the Cup for the second time on what would have been his 90th birthday, May 26, 1999.

He was manager of United for 24 years - retiring in 1969 - and was recognised as the greatest boss the club had ever had until Ferguson began piling up the trophies. United have invited Busby's son Sandy and daughter Sheena to be the club's guests in Rome and attend a dinner with their directors on Tuesday.
