Manchester United Thread

Yep worried about the Emirates. Even if we score I can still see Arsenal scoring 3. I can see them scoring the first and then being all over us :((

I can't see it myself. I think we'll try and stifle them with Anderson, Park and Fletcher. With Tevez and Rooney up fron pissing their defenders off, we can keep them on the back foot.

To be honest, Arsenal as an attacking threat without Arshavin/RVP...non existant last night. Adebayor was shocking and couldn't keep hold of the ball.

You'll be fine IMO

Strongest hint yet today that Carlitos will leave us in the summer if we dont offer him a good reason to stay.He has become a fans' favourite since the first time he stepped into the pitch with us.He wears his heart on his sleeve, living his life on that pitch every time.

Having said that,I dont think loyalty is in him...either that or there is something in him that is missing that really makes our board want to sign him now.A 30 mill price tag is too much but we paid that amount for Berbatov because Sir Alex wanted a player of the Bulgarian's calibre,so the question of money is out because we can pay.

It'll be sad to see him leave but I personally will be happy because I know we will sign a better player or at least on par with Tevez, that probably will have a decent dose of loyalty in him.I'm not too sure about my last statement but as many of us in here,Tevez signing on with a permanent contract would be the best piece of news since he signed on loan with us.

Can't see some1 has Loyal and that has such a high work rate/team work as Tevez atm, but maybe im missing some players. Point is, that such a player is worth more then 30M, the work he does, the soul he has and the pleasure he gives the fans is more then worth it, imo.

Exactly. And if you let him go and then go out to find a suitable replacement, it'll probably cost you atleast £25million anyway.
I've said this before and I'll say it again. 95% of the worlds best players like to be first team starters. Tevez is one of the few in the world who has the world class ability but is also willing to be a squad player. The last time we had that was with Solskjaer. I know he's moaning about a lack of games but thats only because he's not rewarded for his performances. And the lack of games is clearly because Sir Alex doesnt want to regularly play someone who might be leaving soon.
Give Tevez a contract and I really do believe we'll be looking at an even better player.

I think Tevez is out the door. Nothing Fergie has done is convincing me. I'm sure Gill and Fergie had a plan to get him on the cheap, and I still don't know what other big clubs could want him/afford him. It would restore some of my almsot non-existant faith in top flight football if he agreed to sign for £15m or so, for 4 years (which is a total of £25m, not exactly spare change!). But yeah, I see him going somewhere else like Madrid, or Barca and being stuck on their bench instead. He should just stay where he is, get a paycheck most people could never dream of and play 30 games a year instead of 40.

I think we'll sign him. Even if we don't I hope you lot dont expect anyone coming in. We have Macheda and Wellbeck who both who are developing nicely. I think Tevez is great for games where we lack that the passion/drive but if were being honest he lacks the overall ability to be in the "World Class" bracket

I must admit, I'd prefer to spend 35 million on David Villa than Carlos but I love the guy for his enthusiasm and attitude, and he loves the club so it's a shame that the current situation is the way it is.

I like him and I hope he stays but not if we have to pay another £20m on top of what we have already.

I dont understand why almost everyone overlooks his obvious flaws just because he runs around all day. It's a good trait to have in your game but look at Rooney, he can run around and combine it with goals, assists, link up play and the rest.

Whether Carlito's lack of goals and confidence in the final 3rd is down to him not being sure where he'll be next season is another thing but at the end of the day, Fergie's not gonna shell out £30m for a latino Dirk Kuyt.

Tevez does assist, score goals and link up well, thats why he is an upgrade on Kuyt, he is technically more gifted.

I'd love him at Liverpool :)

He's played like he's got his feet on the wrong way round at times this season. His close control really has been bad, but you really cant fault his heart and effort. It's the price tag that's the stumbling block.

Its down to his goal scoring rate too...he isnt exactly a goal scorer even before he came to us.He is more like a link man between midfield and attack.I never doubted his work ethic and passion but I dont think he will be better if we give him a contract Rune...his best season was his first...we would have already signed him going into the current season if we really wanted to.No 15-30 million forward wants to sit on the bench in any team in the world...Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was an exceptional professional and he didnt even cost a chip off that amount.I think its best for both parties to let him go and sign....Karim Benzema or Frank Ribery.

And Benzema does want to sit on the bench?

Exactly. We sign Benzema and we're back to square one. Atleast Tevez would be a squad player.
The only way its gonna work out for us is if we sign someone like Ribery and if either Macheda or Wellbeck steps their game up. If we sign another striker, we're still gonna have selection problems. Imagine how Berba is gonna react to it.

Terrible feeling about today. Boro have this knack, plus we're pairing Giggs and Scholes in the middle. Madness.

Thinking another 2-2 is on the cards...

2-0 win 6 points clear and bring on Arsenal tuesday I feel we can get a goal at the Emirates if we adopt the same tempo of play as we did at OT!

Wow, Boro were crap. Only some dire finishing/ball sticking under feet from Tevez prevented it from being a much higher scoring game. Can't help but feel like we could have clawed back on top of goal difference, they were there for the taking.

Anyway, as I said was worried before, but only Tuncay looked like he could care less.

Macheda didn't do much. Then again he's 17 and never started before ;)

Started FA Cup Semi iirc

He's 17 FFS. Looks like a prospect but thats all he is at the moment. Good win. we were never troubled really.

Tevez scoring record was actually much better before joining us, he managed 30 for Corinthians and was a much better player at Boca. I think he's bulked up a lot after coming to England which has changed his game slightly.

Haven't Barca agreed a fee for Ribery? So seems like thats not happening and well if we were to sign Benzema I would think it would mean Rooney on the left. Benzema would also cost in the region of 40-50M(Could change if Lyon fail to qualify for the CL).

If Tevez doesn't sign I think we'll look to Nani to step up on the flanks and Have Ronaldo more of a 3rd choice CF when needed to be.
