Manchester United Thread

I dont mind that top at all, I thought AIG was off though ?

A white away with a black V would look nice

Onto tonight, please dont concede id love to see a clean sheet because United are more than capable of scoring at the Emirates (havent they always scored at Emirates ?)

If United can carry on where they left off attacking wise from Saturday and Arsenal defend like they did against Liverpool it could be very interesting

I remember before the OT match last year it was a similar situation and they wiped the floor with us. I think we'll be pretty cautious tonight.

Edging ever and ever closer! :))

Im looking forward to tonight. Have a good feeling about it. Something we should look at is Ronaldo V Gibbs. The young full back looked like he had trouble against Kuyt and if thats the case Ronaldo could tear him apart.

Hopefully the game can be great one, I'll take another 4-2 ;))

That look on O'Sheas face still makes me laugh. somewhere between trying to be like Cantona but just being too awkward to pull it off.

Well it was a lovely match to watch that's all you can gather really.

We should've and could've sealed our place in the final but it wasn't to be and it'll be very interesting next week.

I think our defence should be alright against their forward line but it'll be Nasri and Cesc (if he can be bothered) that we'll need to worry about I think.

Argh. Needed second goal. Great showing that. More like United of last season. Hope Rio is okay though, that could be a massive, massive loss for the run-in...!

I was impressed with Ronaldo. Ok everything didn't come off for him but the effort he put it was well above anything else he's given this season. Hopefully he can carry that through these last few games.

We really needed at least another goal, if Tevez had've put that early chance away we'd be a lot more comfortable right now. We played well though and like you say, hopefully Rio's rib isn't broken (is that what it was?).

I thought Carrick was excellent tonight in the middle and Anderson and Fletcher played quite well too. We defended well but being the home side I thought we should've kept the pressure on Arsenal like in the first half instead of holding the one goal lead. Berba was getting stuck right in defending at the end which was nice to see, I guess he knows he's got a point to prove.

BTW, did either side get a single direct freekick in the oppostition half? I can't remember any!!

watch and learn boys. this is how a football match should be played. watch this space

Watch and learn... watch this space... still watching... what am I watching for!? ;)

Well I think Arsenal can be lucky its not anymore but Id have settled for 1-0 to start with. United are more than capable of scoring at the Emirates and that should be enough.

Great performance and result. No doubt if were being greedy we should be be talking about a 3-0 win here but it wasn't to be. Rooney, Tevez and Carrick were class today. Vidic didn't let Adebayor win one header all night and Rio sweeped up everything else. Ronaldo's new 40 yard challenge was nearly completed again when he hit the bar.

Overall at the start of the night we would all have taken that. Totally different Arsenal on Tuesday IMO Clichy RVP and Gallas(?) will make them a extremely tough match up. I hope we don't sit back to much

2-0 would have been the perfect result. Then it would have meant that if we get just one away goal on tuesday, then they need to score 4 past us to win.
I'm confident we can get an away goal. I'm just not sure we can win the whole tie at the Emirates. Whenever I think about playing at the Emirates, all the previous bad experiences keep coming to mind.
Now we need 2 goals to kill off the game and we shouldnt have had to do that with the amount of good chances we created at Old Trafford.

That was a highly technical and tactica game we played.Should have won with another goal or two but I'm going with Sir Alex on this one.We still have to be cautious at the Emirates but if we can do it in El Porto...why not in London eyy?

Carrick and Fletcher were immense in the middle tonight.Besides Giggs who cant make it every game now,i realise we dont have a regular setpiece/corner taker.Big ups to the man for his collosal 800th game though...Like I said,he could have been more of a threat from setpieces with the likes of Vida,Ronaldo and Berbatov in the box waiting for the ball...all we need is a regular setpiece taker...while saying this,a certain Italian comes to mind...Andrea Pirlo.

The current record is 12, achieved by Liverpool in the 1973/74 season.
The current Premiership record of 11, achieved was by Chelsea in 2004/05.

As far as I know, United have 9 so far in the Prem.

It's only fair, after all those other records were set when they didnt play 20 odd CL games a season.

You can still win that aswell then ;)
