Manchester United Thread

So I taped the supercup, just got finishing watching it, and united looked horrible, truly bad out there, and were completely outplayed. Wow did they look bad in the first half, and pretty much throughout the second. At least scholes gave us a laugh. This is not the team that won it last year unfortunately

ManUtd were terrible. Zenit were highly concentrated. that's practically it.

oh, and hurray for Tevez and Scholes. the 1st for at least trying and the second for at least trying....

Honestly only Tevez wanted to bring the team forward last night. The others were merely enjoying the trip to Monaco.Credits to Vida for his goal too.We were toothless upfront, will be a big problem if we sign nobody before the window closes...This upset will last a long time as our next game will be on Sept 13 against the Scousers!

I think it's important we lost last night. The team has some glaring, massive gaps and maybe that loss will force Fergie to look at it til it's too late. If the rumor mill is to be believed, Saha will be at Everton and Campbell at Hull city by Monday, leaving us with a strike force of Rooney, Tevez and, um, Manucho.

We had no height, no presence in the box and defensively we had no bite last night. Scholes and Ando don't work as a pairing, that was painfully clear to see. I have no idea what's wrong with hargreaves now, but hopefully it's a case of 'england-itis'.

As for Scholes, he deserves his ban (does he get one from a friendly?) as that was ridiculous and not really funny (though it was so bad it might be, and he's a helluva a volleyball player!) at all.

Neville is done, was at fault for a good number of chances and offered nothing but balloony balls into the middle for our hobbits to look at and get mad. It's nto rocket science, but the ball at their damn feet!

Only plus note was that Park looked sharp, especially considering how long he's been away. Good football brain that one.

Sharp points there mate...especially ones I highlighted in bold.
Ando works very well with Hargo and this pair should be our first choice in the middle with Carrick, controlling the traffic, behind them.Park was a bright sPark...he is always useful and provides great cover for the midfield.Top class player, still feel gutted for him for missing out the final at Moskow.

Meh, We were crap but it was only a glorified Charity Shield we would have still loved to have won it but no harm done. We need a finisher.

if ya guys get berba then you have your finisher. But poor show by you guys... nothing to take away from Zenit though....

Not true mate, We gave Nani and Neville much needed minutes on the pitch even though both were awful, even Rooney got more minutes which was needed, It was further evidence that we lacked someone in the box to finish chances off. Obviously there was the Scholes incident which has now ruled him out for the first game but still a few positives to take from it.

Nani is gash, he's not fit to lick Ronaldo's boots.

And I think it'll take too long before we get anything out of him.

We should just sell him and admit defeat.

Don't expect him to be Ronaldo, He just isnt going to hit that level but I do think he'll turn out good.

At least Ronaldo had some form of promise all those years ago. Some sort of end product at some point.

That was exactly what people said he didn't have. Nani has been very good in some games and piss poor in others; much the same way as Ronaldo was.
He will become a good player, but just needs more time and games.

As much as I want to disagree...Maru's points on Nani are pretty much accurate. The boy definitely has talents...but has yet to find a constant flow on using them in matches. Its easy to see that Nani models his game from Ronaldo's...what we want to see is consistancy. He has time on his side and Sir Alex is well known to give players chances to prove themselves time and time again. He will come up good....If not, ship him out in a box.Hah.

Think Nani will eventually come good. I do think he's a bit overrated, but if Ferguson can sort his head out, he might actually become a decent player. Nowhere near as good as Ronaldo, or even Quaresma, but maybe around someone like Simao's level.

Has the season started yet? What a load of bolocks all these breaks are. One month in an we've not had a Saturday game, either.

I dunno why people do Ronaldo/Nani comparisons. He doesnt play anything like him! Nani doesnt really run at defences the same way Ronaldo does, he doesnt have the skills Ronaldo has. He always seems to stop when he gets to a defender, I havnt seen him once run at a defence which he should do more often rather then just stop on the spot and wiggle his right peg everytime.

Papers are saying we're gonna offer Campbell as part of the Berba deal. Not happy with this to be honest. I was starting to like the kid. He was looking like one of our best strikers to come through the ranks in a long time. Rossi was very talented but I dont think with his style of play and his size that he was gonna make it here. Not until he had gone somewhere else and really proven himself. Campbell on the other hand was the right kind of player to bring on if someone else needed a rest, cuz he gave defences more to think about than Rossi did. No wonder we were (apparently) offered £7million for him by Hull. Not bad for someone who's still an unknown in the Premiership.

I see why it makes sense from Spurs perspective (and they get to spite United, which Levy will love) but why on Earth would Berba agree? Doesn't have some say?

International teammates Petrov & Bojinov are there, they're in Europe albeit the Uefa cup and if the Arabs are serious they could easily pay him higher wages than what you mancs would offer, obviously the reasons to join you rather than City are clear but you never know...

No Champions League football though, I can't honestly see him doing it. Knowing our luck I'll be eating my words in a few hours though....

Shell shocked. Just shell shocked.

And Saha is gone too. A strikeforce of Rooney and Tevez, with a back up option of Manucho and Campbell. Eeeesh.
