Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

That article about Davide Petrucci is very interesting. The transfer may be labelled as "Stealing a Star"...but its perfectly legal.Big ups to our scouts for spotting such a talent, rarely so in Italy also.

Best part about the article was a quote by Patrice Evra after he extended his contract till 2013 woth 75K pounds per week."United is more than a club, it is a family," said Evra. "I'm proud to be a part of it."

Allez Allez Patrice!!

See I don't like the Petrucci thing. It seems cheap and demeaning to our own youth setup. I take he must be significantly better than Wellbeck to warrant that kind of thing, but still. Also, he'll probably never be truly loyal, so if turns out to a star, it'll be Ronaldo part deux.

Just wish football would move back towards developping people in your academy, rather than robbing other clubs. Guess that's the whole 6+5 thing...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

According the the sources I read, he left because he got into a fight with the youth team coaches. So it might not be a loyalty issue. In fact he might be loyal for not joining another Italian club!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

I agree with the Wright article completely.Petrucci seems like a top youngster but it is cheap that we got him, explains why the 6+5 rule is needed. Its going to be interesting to see what Ronaldo does say after the euro's, i personally don't think he'll give a answer and probably that way he thinks if he stays he won't feel like a traitor. Would anyone like to see Rooney play Ronaldo's free role next season and instead we purchase a pure CF to play alongside Tevez?

Wright was a little harsh though, wasn't very subtle.

Sometimes, harsh words are need to get through thick skulls and big egos...I agree with Ian Wright whole-heartedly.His words would mirror those of Sir Alex in brutal honesty.

In my opinion and finalsay on this saga...its great if Ronaldo stays but I will not be bitter if he left.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

Anyway..the best rumour in the Rumour Room.

A very reliable source has confirmed that Ronaldo has confirmed he will stay at united after firstly realising that scolari's advice for him to join real was only for his own chelski career's benefit, and secondly due to united giving in and agreeing to his contract extension and pay rise to ¿150k p/w. United are also planning their payback on Real for the whole saga by signing Ramos who has openly declared his delight at uniteds interest in a ¿20M deal. Sir Alex has been tracking Ramos for 6years as Neville's replacement. Saha and Silvestre will be departing Old Trafford for ¿7M and ¿4M respectively, wil Saha staying in the premiership with either Bolton or Middlesboro, and Silvestre heading back to France. Sir Alex will in return purchase his 3 priority summer transfers, Veloso ¿15M, Santa Cruz ¿10M and Huntelaar ¿18M. Sir Alex is also keeping a close eye on Portugal and Netherlands in the Euro's with his eyes firmly on Scholes's replacement after signing Gigg's last summer - Nani, and signing Neville's after a 6 year pursuit - Ramos. Sir Alex will be monitoring how Moutinho and Long term Target Van Der Vaart perform throughout the tournament before making an ¿18M raid for the one who impresses most. This will conclude his Summer transfers! Heard here First - Watch this space!

I'd be happy if either half of this rumour is true!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

I wouldn't mind a bit of Robben or Sneijder to replace Giggs and Scholes.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

Does anyone else find it funny that there's been one CF in the Euro tournament who has really stood out - been strong, a great focal point for the counter, amazing holdup, great vision and skill on the ball, plus legendary finishing...and we sold him to real madrid 2 years ago. Gutted.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

Who, Kuyt?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

We didnt sell Kuyt to Madrid 2 years ago...

Sounds like a kid made that up, i doubt we'll invest in more than 2 players and a overall not breaking the bank either. Ronaldo staying cause of Scolari situation? i doubt that was ever really a reason why he was going in the first place.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

Ruud van Nistelrooy has been fantastic for Holland in their two games...Why wouldnt he...he claims he had a crap Euro campaign before this one because of his stint with us.Totally bullcrap of a reason. He is just making up time...hadnt really stood out in big tournaments before. He served his time for us and thats that.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

I'm just glad to see him back playing regularly on the international stage because he fell out with van Basten not long ago. He made the right decision to reconcile and bring him back.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

yea i nouh...

Like I said,I'd be happy if either half of that rumour came through.

I dont know if Mikael should leave us as we are short of covers for CB after Pique left.If he does, then Sergio Ramos would be a perfect replacement though I cannot see him leaving the Bernabeu.

Saha is likely to leave.End of.

We dont need Veloso and either Santa Cruz or Jan Huntelaar will do,not both.

We already have Scholes' and Giggs' replacements in Anderson and Nani respectively though the latter prefers hugging the right side.

Joao Moutinho and Van der Vaart would really crowd out our midfield,so thats a big tosser.

:FISH:

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

If you guys get Ramos, I think you can truly say you have a world class team--as in a world class player in each position.. Scary thought.

BUT I don't think he'll be lured that easily. Isn't he a born and bred Madridsta, a product of their youth academy? He's destined for the captaincy there, as he seems to be a leader. Plus, who wouldn't wanna partner Ronaldo down the flank hehe

No, he came from Sevilla's academy. But it looks like Madrid are building their team around Ramos, so I don't think we'll go for him any time soon.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

Rumour is it that Ronaldo is set to complete his transfer to Real after the finals. Apparantly Real have bidded straight to the owners and cut out SAF and Gill with a bid of 100MEuros(£75M)which the Glazers are looking to accept as it chips of 10% of their debt. :(

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

Chelsea must have madea £70 million bid for Raul once.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

Seriously guys you think selling Ronaldo's a good last-gasp move? I do believe all this Ronaldo talking 'wait till the tournament is over' is, in the club's point of view, is bad publicity. But he didn't say he dislikes being a red devil, right? I do feel he's just keeping his options open so what he says before the tournament won't hunt him back, or he just want to concentrate on Euro 2008 so saying nothing about the future might be a good thing.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

The thing is he's changed his tune since, i didn't mind what he was saying before cause its true which was "Im happy at United but the future who knows?" i dont mind that but know he hasnt reassured us by saying anything like that but more hinting at wanting to leave. Anyway lets sign Villa! that kid is just amazing.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

I have a feeling that hes flaffing about for a nice fat new contract that would mean early retirement after football.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

counter-attacker Villa at united God help us!

I don't udnerstand why, I would love to be paid to play football all my life. I'm sure when he is 30, some US team will sign him up to play for a season or two.
