Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

What are the good reasons for him to leave anyway? Because he wants a new challenge? Because he wants to play in the Bernabau? He can still achieve a lot at United, which is why I don't understand his mindset.
he has won the league twice, an fa up, a carling cup, and now the champions league... what else is there?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

Hes not leaving for money, i'm sure United would give him more if he asks. He says, it was his dream to play for Madrid. Well actually many players have a dream of playing for Real Madrid, maybe thats why hes going.

The Treble? (not mickey mouse one :-pp)

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

If ronaldo wants to play in madrid we should sell him now, not wait for another season....

Why keep him, like he's doing us a favour lol

We will continue to prosper, as we always have when players have left, either a new player will come in or a current player will step up...

And this is not me being ungreatful...

Christiano has been great for us, as we have for him...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

I agree. Let him go, if he doesn't wanna play then it'll affect his performances, and therefore his value, so we may as well cash in while he's at his highest.

No player is bigger than the team and all his pathetic contradicting comments and sheer arrogance are really undermining Ferguson. One minute he says he's staying, next minute he'll decide 'soon'. Just fucking say what you're doing so it can be done with and everyone can move on.

It's so plain to see that he plays for the sole purpose of being the best player in the world. I know that's not such a bad thing, it's every lad's dream but not many players display it like he does. He doesn't really care about the team, so long as people see him as the hero. Remember in the match against Kiev? Rooney and Tevez had both scored and he was getting so pissed off, even though the match was won. So he went on run after run without passing it until HE scored so HE could get some glory. Sorry if thats pessimistic but in my opinion it's true.

I say take the £80m or whatever, get a few quality players in and we'll move on, like we always do.

I agree - If he doesn't want to stay - Get rid and have fun buying a few other great players with the money

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

Reminds us of Henry Barca willing to give us 50 mil but He wanted to stay for the fans (supposedly) and went to Barca for 16 mil  the very next season. Ade scored 30 goals post Henry era

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

The thing is, are Madrid REALLY going to pay £80 million?

It oculd be all bullshit tabloid talk about these prices. I was thinking more like £50 million.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

We'll get a lot less than we think, probably. Remember how long it took to get the money for Beckham? and it was less than we were led to believe. They were raking in the merchandise sales all the while.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

What i'm thinking is CRonaldo WILL stay, but then as hes been telling all his friends that hes gonna leave next year, maybe becoz, he doesnt want to leave suddenly this year. and so he'll give Fergie sometime to find some replacement, and then he'll leave, but thats next year.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

I'm portuguese, maybe some of you won't agree with me, because he's such a key player for you but..I have 2 comments for this:

1. Ronaldo is simply stupid (that's the only reason I can find). He's loved like nowhere else he would be. We all know how passionate english supporters are. If he made whole his career in Manchester he would be remembered forever, like no other club does.
Money shouldn't be the issue...and if it is, that's just stupid again. What's the difference between getting 100000000000 or 100000500000?
Real Madrid are far more instable than Manchester United. Why should he risk it? Real Madrid has problems every couple of years, then they sign a ton of great players... a couple of weeks later they draw 2 games in a row and everybody will say that Ronaldo sucks and should be sold.
It's easier to be the best of the world on Real Madrid..? I don't know about that, but he showed this season that it's possible on Premiership...he'll win the prize for sure.
Why would he risk everything? He's on the best league for a player.
The thing is...this is why players like Rui Costa, Raul and Maldini will be remembered and respected forever, and Vieri, Anelka, and so on, will only be remembered as good players.
Some are classy. Cristiano Ronaldo only it is on the field. The way he's dealing with Manchester United (and its supporters) is just a shame, in my opinion. And I'm not a MU fan.

2. The way things are today players simply 'own' their clubs...it makes no sense at all, they are always so vulnerable, even if they make huge investments, give the chance to the player become one of the best...As long as the player feels like leaving, the club has no choice at all...they can keep him unhappy or sell him for a lower price..
This Webster 'rule' is a shame in my opinion... UE should take in mind that football is a very particular issue, so it should be able to have some specific rules.
Maybe it doesn't happen so much on Manchester or other english teams but this simply turns everything to the hands of the players. We see players getting richer and richer spoiled kids, and clubs going bankrupt.
Clubs should be protected too...

By the way, do you think this 'love' for Madrid thing has anything to do with his spanish girlfriend..?I've heard a rumour that she was 'working' for Real Madrid...she has connections to football..and let's be real, it might switch Cristiano's mind...looking how he is with girls.

He has had this love for Madrid since a child I believe, and he has been switching girls every month lol!

I agree with you completely, maybe we can loan him out for a year ;)

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

I'm with most of you, if a player doesn't want to be at United, let them go. We'll find someone else, always have done, always will. I also think it'll be impossibl for him to replicate the season he's had this year, so his value will likely dip next year. It's dissapointing for all of the reasons #71 puts out above, but not that surprising.

The real question for me is the value of the transfer. I wouldn't settle for less than £50m. And you know what, we'd of made £38m on him, won 2 titles and a CL in 4 years investment. Not bad return says the finance-geek in me!

If we lose him, I wonder if we'll revert back to a more traditional formation, or if we'll continue with the fluid 'total football' one.

Well whats left for him to win at United?? Maybe he wants a new challenge. Real Madrid are the biggest and most glamourous club in the World.

Nah can't see it, SAF and carlos have been working this system for the past 2 and a bit seasons, the whole squad is geared towards playing this way...

Any players we now sign are gonna have to be comfortable in playing pretty much anywhere...

I think thats why we havent signed a new number 9, although maybe the angolan fella we signed is slightly in that mode.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

The Angolan, Manucho, has only played a few games and scored one goal, apparently.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

I hope Ronny stays, I really do but if he doesn't I can live with that - we've won the lot with him, the guy is a genius and I hope that he'll do well at Madrid, just like I wished Beckham well.

It's gonna be an exciting new season as defending European AND English champions - everyone will wanna piece of United again and teams will want to beat us even more. But I am confident with our squad and look forward to doing the double over Liverpoo AGAIN, maybe going for the F.A. Cup and it would be nice beating City - we owe them that! ;)

I'm totally with M on this one.

It would be okay for me to see Ronaldo leave. We helped him to be what he is today. If the transfer is opened to him,I'd say thank you and goodbye.

Speculation season has already begun and the sizzle starts now.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

Bugger, looks like Ronnie's off, wish he'd just been honest with everyone from the start. Then again, maybe he was behind closed doors. I wonder how much we'll get for him - has to break the world transfer record surely?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

Rumours are that hes going to get 300,000 a week and Transfer money is around 75M. Quite a record.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

I still think its not going to happen this summer. Ronaldo said from Switzerland that if United accept the offer and if they offer him whats been rumored, he'd take it, but if not, then he's got a contract to respect.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

United need to be very careful with Ronaldo. It's happened with Ronaldinho, happened with Kaka, they win everything they can, and their level goes down.

Don't think United will be effected that much even if Ronaldo leaves. They can't replace him, but they'll find a new system. Ferguson's not stupid, he knows Ronaldo can't keep this level for a long time.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

some Milan based radio station has aparently interviewed Kaka and he's saying he would like a move to United
