Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread .

Definitely Agree that we have the toughest run in but to be fair i think Chelsea will slip up again I'm also hoping Arsenal forget the title and focus on the CL so we get a weakened Arsenal similar to the cup game, I think we'll get 5 wins 1 draw and 1 loss will that be enough?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread .

hmm... just a point for YoungGun_UK last time we had a draw we went on a 9 game winning spree.. remember that? and looking at our fixtures, if i was a betting man i would bet on ManU slipping up more than Chelsea as they have to face gritty teams as well as Arsenal and come home to Chelsea!!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread .

I am impressed how Man u are coasting to the title again after all. Arsenal and Chelsea's titles are just dents in Ferguson's record.

It hasn't been easy. Losing to Man City and Bolton were big points in the season, and we have turned around.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread .

Guys, a friend of mine (on these ACTUAL forums and NO it's not DJ DOC!) has told me on MSN about one or two of the signings we are bringing to Old Trafford in the summer (his dad is an agent.)

They are SOME players too! If he doesn't mind me telling you who they are, I will do so later or tomorrow. :)

Let me guess? Lahm? Garay? Huntelaar? Villa?

Well rumours are they're going for one or two targetmen...names such as Toni and Iaquinta are floting around and it could very well be cuz Toni always said he wanted to play for a top EPL team and Iaquinta doesn't get much playtime at Juve....
They are apparently concentrating on two youngsters aswell namely Ivan Raketic ( who has already declared to be leaving Schalke) and Raffaele Palladino...Apparently Ferguson adores them both...These are all rumours so don't flame me for it

Hmm, I don't see how Iaquinta and Toni would fit in United's play, other than just being options that can be brought off the bench.

Now Rakitic is a quality player, and would be a great buy IMO. Same with Palladino.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread .

I still want Klaus Jan Huntelaar! I think he would be brilliant for us.

I have my doubts...anyway DJ its Klaas...not trying to be nit picking, just thought it would help:DD

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread .

I wouldn't leave Bayern if I was Toni - they are surely one of the favourites in the European Cup next season?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread .

Well, I think Toni is fairly happy in Germany, but Bayern have lost a lot of their allure...Toni always stated that when certain teams come knockin', you just can't refuse...Tbh I think a Iaquinta-Palladino-Rakitic is easier too achieve and atleast one of these three will join the Man U ranks

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread .

I don't think Bayern are going to let go of their prime assets easily as they are going to come back to Champions League next season. Hmm.. the other three are shown good form and have amazing skills

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread, 5 points clear + 7 games left = 10th Prem T

I think the Iaquinta, Palladino, or Rakitic probability will be larger...I'm not too sure how the latter two will play, but i can for see them in the future with Man Utd and they'd be really happy to play that role too...Iaquinta is a great player, have always been a fan of his play, but doubt he'd want to play as a back-up to Rooney and Tevez...and what about Saha?

As for Toni....doubt he'll come...nor will Bayern let him go so easily...Their team is all set for next CL and they will come with a huge spark!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread, 5 points clear + 7 games left = 10th Prem T

Can't see us going for Iaquinta or Toni really. United like to bring in youngsters and shape them to the team. Both are 31, and wouldn't be cheap, so reckon we'd look elsewhere.

Don't know much about Palladino or Rakitic, but they are young (
24 & 19) so maybe...

Sir Alex has seemed interested in Veloso, Benzema, & Quagliarella, though Veloso is a holding MF so would we really need him seeing as we have Hargreaves, Carrick & Anderson?

We have the Brazillian twins joining next year, plus Manucho if he gets a work permit. Frazier Campbell is impressing on loan at Hull so could see him being promoted to the first team, Danny Simpson will likely feature more next season as well- depending on what happens with Wes Brown & Gary Neville.

The only signing I think we'll make is a permanent deal for Tevez.
A 3rd keeper would be nice (Kuszczak isn't good enough), another striker (if Saha goes:TD:)& maybe a RB, though Pique & Simpson are capable of playing there.

Our squad is pretty settled, and, as exciting as it is to sign new players, don't think we'll tinker too much.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread, 5 points clear + 7 games left = 10th Prem T

I agree with most of that, except the right back. I think if Simpson were good enough he'd be in the squad already against weaker teams, because Brown offers nothing going forward.

I think a settled squad is more important than brining in big names each year. If we do sign Tevez, I think that'll be it personally. Risky, but with Manucho as at least a plan B, and maybe wellbeck/cambell as others, then we should be alright. Midfield is fine, defense is solid (with pique as a backup CB, he's not fast enough to be a RB, plus Evans maybe coming back...) we're just about there.

And with Fergie in charge, I don't worry much about complacency!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread, 5 points clear + 7 games left = 10th Prem T

How shite was Brown last night? The guy ALWAYS looks scared.

However, I'll let him off for scoring the first and most vital goal against the Scousers on Sunday! ;)

Vannizzle: I appreciate your optimism but could you change the thread title mate? It's tempting fate if you ask me. :)

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread, 5 points clear + 7 games left = 10th Prem T

The whole england team wasn't too good last night. They were pretty slow compared to France's pacy front attack.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread, 5 points clear + 7 games left = 10th Prem T

Yeah i was more nervous this time last year, when it seemed as though the Chelsea machine would just walk over everyone, but still worried and don't want to tempt fate! IMO winning the prem two years in a row given the quality of the competition would be a serious achievement...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread, 5 points clear + 7 games left = 10th Prem T

I knew it. England cannot win nowadays. I dunno why--is it becoz they think they are too good or they think they are shite.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread, 5 points clear + 7 games left = 10th Prem T

I agree totally about the transfer's, we've got a settled team we've already got the players for next season in, with the two brazillian wing backs(hopefully atleast one will be quality) and are 2nd option with Manucho so with that Tevez on a permenant will be fine for me. P.S I agree change the thread name it could come back to haunt us :)
