We've lost alot of games away to pompey so I can see why he's not been picked, anderson will play lots of games....

Re: Manchester United Thread - Rooney out 2 Months!!

Pompey tied the game. If Sir Alex needs some fuel from the bench... The Brazilian magic aint there...

Re: Manchester United Thread - Rooney out 2 Months!!

John O'shea in for Giggs. This would be the Anderson moment. Unless O'shea scores and shuts me up... :)

Edit: final 10 minutes against 10 men again, surely you must score.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Rooney out 2 Months!!

Good to see Ronaldo being clever. Gets into handbags against the strickest ref in the league and headbutts the prick. I mean, if you're gonna head butt someone for being a sh*t at least make sure they don't get up afterwards. He barely touched him. Less helpful than Sccholes missing whoever it was last year with a slap.

Two draws, no Rooney, no Ronaldo for 3 games. Happy days boys.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Rooney out 2 Months!!

At the end of the day the chances were made & no one to put them away.

SAF not getting a main striker is gonna come back to haunt us mark my words. Its all very wll saying we will have the movement but if theres no one there putting the bal in the net whats the point???

People will disagree but i will stick by it SAF needs a main striker for everyone else to play off.

What a crappy season its shaping up to be. CL no chance

Re: Manchester United Thread - Rooney out 2 Months!!

If he's headbutted him then I'd say itd be far more than three games. The FA will investigate it and he'll get done over.

As for the rest of the team, we're fucked

Re: Manchester United Thread - Rooney out 2 Months!!

Did he headbutt him? I only saw both players shoving each other. (web stream, poor quality.)

Straight red = 3 game suspension? Damn. Well, bring on Anderson. :)

Edit: Btw, your team is looking like Portugal at times, creating a million chances, but no real finisher up front.

That is exactly what I was thinking.

It might be different when Tevez has played more games, but I still think he should be playing off a front man and in that respect a direct replacement for Rooney- but not a Solskjaer, Saha, Van Nistelrroy, Cole, Yorke etc

Too many people have bought into this movement and interchangable argument. No one was even speaking about this before last year, now every argument for not having a front man or for playing players out of position is interchangable and movement..........It's the new band wagon for people who don't know a lot about football IMHO- sorry if that offends anyone.

Still I think Ports is a place anyone can drop points....just the reading game that was naff for the most part.

Reckon Tevez will get goal....but also think you desperately need a front man back to lead the line.....you can then have your wingers interchanging and adapting...as at least in that sense it is more appropriate.

P.S

Best Man utd performance of last season included Alan Smith up front against Roma- with the class movement off the recognised front man. Worst performace was against Milan where the idea that Rooney could play up front and you didn't have a front man came in.

Kind of reminds me of the failed insitence that Ferguson had a few years ago with playing a striker with scholes behind the front man when you had Veron.

If something doesn't work you should accept it.....hope for you sake when Rooney comes back that he does not play as a front man, that Tevez can play ahead of him or that the two are used separately in the same position with Saha ahead of either.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Rooney out 2 Months!!

Just watching the MOTD highlights, he was provoked surely, and no contact, but ffs, right in front of the ref. What a tit.

We were playing well as well, Ronaldo was running as freely as last year, Tevez's play to let in Scholes for the goal was beautiful, and the goal itself was great, but jesus wept. The amount of missed chances, and now we're without Ronnie. FUCK!

Re: Manchester United Thread - Rooney out 2 Months!!

Yeh a focul point in your attack is desperately needed. The movement is great and attacking play is amazing, but you need someone in the centre who is gonna stay there and score the goals.

When we won the champions league we had that in either Inzaghi or Gilardino. Not great players who are going to take on defenders, but certainly players who can score goals. Well Inzaghi can :D

Re: Manchester United Thread - Rooney out 2 Months!!

i'm now officially scared........and in need of some good news to help me!!!! please!!!!

but, as i'm optimistic, i'll see how we can turn this around soon....soon.....

Re: Manchester United Thread - Rooney out 2 Months!!

Just watched the extended highlights of the match, United could've easily scored 4 or 5 goals. Guess it just wasn't meant to be...

On another note, this one resonating from last season, i dislike Carrick. He doesn't convince me, lacks some class, i dunno.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Rooney out 2 Months!!

I'm not a big Carrick fan either (yes, I know his stats are hard to argue with). I just don't like the way he plays.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Rooney out 2 Months!!

I think everyone should calm down a little. It's been a disappointing start but if we're honest we might have expected to lose at Portsmouth as we have twice in the last few years. Plenty of games still to play and it's not as if we're playing badly.

We aint scoring goals. Lets just leave it & see. By the time SAF realises the league is done & dusted.

This just reminds me o Arsenal last season. All the play but no end product

Everybody can see we need a striker as Saha still has to get fit then match fit.

We ont beat City plying how we are playing, this intrechange crap is not working

Re: Manchester United Thread - Rooney out 2 Months!!

Well a plus is that we've got a point more than we got of pompey last year....

And the last time we started the season without a win, was 8 years ago, do I need to remind everyone what happened in 99....

Also I see us missing the two R's as a blessing in disguise....

Most teams have a game plan against those two....

Which usually consists of attempts to wind Rooney up and to kick lumps out of Ronaldo...

But now we have 4 players that no one has played against before in Tevez, Nani, Anderson and to a lesser extent Hargreaves...

Everyone will have to rethink the tactics...

All teams will get suspensions and injuries, we've just started earlier than everyone else lol...

Re: Manchester United Thread - Rooney out 2 Months!!

We ont beat City plying how we are playing,

C'mon we're talking about siddy....

We've played some good football in both games and with fresh blood to come in (Hargreaves & Anderson) and Tevez a game sharper we will be okay..

We're gonna have to play 5 in midfield with Tevez as a lone striker for the next few games but the injured/ suspended players will come back hunger as feck!

Re: Manchester United Thread - Rooney out 2 Months!!

Listen guys, for next season, dont' let anyone say otherwise, the UEFA Cup is still a good tournie.;)

Re: Manchester United Thread - Rooney out 2 Months!!

'Mikael Silvestre is still Lyon's choice to replace crocked captain Cris, according to reports in France.

Gabriel Heinze has been linked with a move, but Lyon boss Alain Perrin is thought to prefer his fellow countryman Silvestre.

and again no offense airjoca, you dont watch enough United games when you say carrick lacks class.... he is two footed, his vision is like supermans, he is now showing that he can shoot, and he links the play from the back to the front... he isnt going to dribble you, trick you, or anything fancy. But he is going to be solid as a rock at distributing the ball and get you a goal now and then.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Rooney out 2 Months!!

finally people seem to be coming to the conclusion that we sorely miss a centre forward. i've only been saying that since midway through last season!

Ferguson obviously felt the same at the time cos we got Larson on loan but once he left we did fuck all about it.

the sooner Saha is back fit the better (but for how long?). as i've said before, phrase said so also, maybe Ronlado can adapt to this position? not for the next 3 games though.

if anyone saw the match last night you'd see that Tevez played furthest forward but continually dropped deep and or wide to show for the ball. Not a centre forward (neither is rooney)

ferguson has also apparently said he has no intentions of going out and buying a centre forward. great

thats good then, we can try Heinze up front...

Re: Manchester United Thread - Rooney out 2 Months!!

I'm not worried a single bit. I think this has made me even more excited about the next game against City. There's no way Sir Alex is gonna watch the team sink so early in the season so you know he's gonna have everyone really motivated.
