Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Nani as everything to go. Has tecnique like most brilliant player's have and he's fast. Anderson had a serious injury last year but he's a top player, but he still has to improve his body physics to be at starting 11. Put your eyes on Nani cause he will do some damage to the apponents. Beware...

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Look at our squad now...With this squad and last season's spirit,we should be gunning on all fronts. When was the last time Man United had so much creativity and flexible players? Training should be fun and maybe Nike could come down Carrington again this season to make more Joga Bonito videos.

On a more serious note,we should see a great season ahead. This squad is definitely more than strengthen which is positive.Depth is added plus adding players that could change games in an instance. We should start with a bang and carry it through January. From then onwards everything should fall into place for yet another crown perhaps? C'mon United.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

one problem with the squad, we need one more Centre Forward, too many of our forward players tend to play deep.

unless ronney, tevez or ronaldo adapt and learn to lead the line then the only player we have that can fill that role is saha and he's super injury prone.

I'm not saying the said players can't adapt, but they're uproven in that role so far.

we've always got Dong though :)

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Strangely when I started a new season with United on FM2007 with an update patch,it is clear that we are short of another proper striker and a defensive midfielder.Owen Hargreaves is the only DM we have with Solskjaer and Saha as the only STs.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

hargeaves will be first choice defensive midfielder when needed, i've also come round to the idea of carrick playing a defensive role, his tackling isn't amazing but his work rate is very good. both are excellent passers too. i'm relatively satisfied there

we definitely need one more centre forward, i'd like anelka but keeping all those egos in check would be hard. maybe dean ashton would be cheaper and prepared not to play all the time? not 100% convinced on him yet but could be one for the future. Berbatov would be ideal (apart from his ego) but that's not gonna happen before august 31st.

Berbatov did look pissed off at being subbed yesterday though so would it be worth lodging a bid? couldn't hurt, might unsettle him too and cause him to try and force a move

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

With Tevez and Rooney in the squad, we need a player who's willing to accept that he wont get to play every game. Barbatov knows he can walk into most Premiership starting XIs so moving to us would be a bad move for him.

I said this before, Smith was the perfect example of a player we could have used here. But the manager was kinda sending him the message that you're not gonna get many games with us seeing how we already have Ole and Saha. The sad thing is that any other striker we bring in now will automatically be placed above Ole and Saha just because they're a new signing and a fresh face in the squad, and not because they're actually better than Ole and Saha.
I'm sure if Smith was just told that he'll be the 3rd choice striker behind only Rooney and Tevez, he probably would have stayed.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Great Rooney is injured.

Anelka would be a great buy for us. That finish yesterday against Newcastle was class

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Anderson 14 milliom
Nanu 17 million
Tevez 30 million
Hargreaves 17 million
O shea as a striker priceless

Get you facts right mate.

Tevez is on loan we have the option to buy him for 30 million

Make a good point but do at least make your point with the correct facts

We still need a striker. Defoe/Anelka are not everyones favourite but we need someone to stretch the play imo.

SAF wont buy anyone tho, We are gonna pay for it this season i can feel it as Saha is not realiable at all

Can someone please tell me why Dong was not on the bench? Surely you have him on there instead of Pique

I'm not too worried yet. Tevez could easily make us forget about this conversation next week against City. I just think Ronaldo needs to play a bit further up field like last season. He kinda went back to being a regular winger rather than the more advanced forward/winger.

What about Wednesday at Pompey?? Surely he must at least be on the bench.

We need to win the next 2 games as Chelsea play Liverpool on Sunday after we play City

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

It was still a good performance. Look at Giggs, Rooney, Ronaldo, Scholes chances jsut wasn't meant to be. Reading were absolutely sh*t. I'm dissapointed was expecting a good game. I'd wager £50 that their keeper had over 90% of their possession. They had no interest in playing football at all. I hope they do that to the other big teams too, though I doubt they'll be able to ride their luck that well.

What is Fergie doing not having a second striker on the bench? I know Rooney is pretty resilient, but why bother having Dong in the squad if not on the bench. At least Frazier Cambell. Thought United looked fine though, had sometihng like 25 attempts to 2. They played well just wasn't meant to be.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Terrific... Rooney has a hairline fracture of his left foot.
I think Anderson & Nani might feature a bit more often than we thought, maybe with Ronaldo pushing further up front?

Or maybe SAF get a blody striker.

I know its more money spending but its needed in case this crap happens to any of the other strikers.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

STRIKERS - Rooney, Tevez, Ole, Saha how many more do you want ?

The squad is complete all it needs is a few games, getting the new players to know each other and all will be well, Its typical 'cos United draw their first game at Reading a fair few say - For fuck sake get a new striker Fergie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

I wouldnt catagorise Rooney and Tevez as natural out and out strikers like Solskjaer and Saha...

If you play FM,you should understand.Solskjaer and Saha are the only STs we have...the only natural finishers we have.

I came to thinking if there was someone prominently big in the box last night,we would have won it.Thats why Sir Alex threw O'Shea in the box.O'Shea being O'Shea isnt a natural forward so the instinct wasnt there.Like that chance he had one on one...if it was Solskjaer or Saha,we would have won.

Reading came to OT with a plan to shut us down and they succeeded. Our plan was to break them down but we couldnt manage to.Its two points lost for us on a first day.Wasnt too bad when it came to mind that all of our 4 meetings with Reading were pretty close affairs. Its a shame that we lost Rooney but I believe we got adequate covers.

Thats it. It doesnt matter that we have 4 strikers in the squad. We only have 2 out and out strikers and both are injured. Add Rooney to that list and we're left with Tevez to rest all our hopes on. We'll have to play Ronaldo behind Tevez for the next couple of games I guess.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

All the talk about 4 strikers, but only Tevez left to be fit. It crap to find that Man United go to the new season with 1 MATCH-FIT forward, Trevez after COPA will be burned out toward the end of the season if this continue.
About Smith, there is no place for a forward who cannot score and is a best a passionate average player. Simply Saha is a better player despite being stupid injury-prone

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

In my opinion SAF knowing how injury prone both Sah & Ole are you should get another out n out striker & have Tevez & Rooney as the center forwards.

Its not rocket science everyboy could see this coming if one of our forward get injured we have no cover.

Suprise suprise it happens now do you guys have confidence against Pompey knowing how we struggle there anyway???

Its all very well saying too many stikers but Tevez or Rooney dont have to play up front.

Its SAF wanting to play fantasy fotball to win the CL.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

SAF said that Tevez & Saha aren't fully match fit, so why not play one for one half & the other for the second?
I'd go for Ronaldo & Nani on the wings, with Giggs as support striker to Tevez/Saha, as they'd interchange anyway. Or change it to a 4-1-4-1 as a one off using Hargreaves, Scholes & Carrick in the same line up.
We could always give young Frazier Campbell a go?

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Funny how we all cringe when Rooney is out now.We got a direct replacement in him in Tevez.Isnt this is what the pundits have been saying all along that Rooney and Tevez is too similar?? Today,Sir Alex is clearly isnt worried one bit by declaring that he dont intend to find a replacement for Rooney. He has faith in his squad and he do not have to please the fans just by buying.

Lets throw Ole away then, shall we?

Re: Manchester United Thread - Rooney out 2 Months!!

I cant see us buying/loaning a new CF unless one of the injured 3 is going to be out for longer than expected...

It just means Tevez will start on Wednesday, which isnt exactly a bad thing..

I've got no complaints about yesterday really, had Rooney not been injured we would have banked the 3points but as soon as he went off we lost our spark...

Other than that the team played okay, we didnt conceed any goals and created over 20 chances...

Re: Manchester United Thread - Rooney out 2 Months!!

Its funny how no one has even thought about the impact Anderson and Hargreaves could make to the team. I dont really think we'll struggle without Rooney.
