Tribalfootball is the least reliable source you can find. There might've been a small chance Palladino would go to man utd for Rossi, but since that's not possible anymore; forget about it.

ranieri would never let palladino go away... not even for rossi.

Ranieri himself described Palladino best: Technically superb, but not very practical. This could prove to be the difference in Palladino turning out to be being a great player or just a good player.

I don't think he'll score that many. Don't get me wrong, I think he'll be an excellent signing. It's just that I think he's more of a Rooney type of player.

I think Tevez should have a better season than last for several reasons, and having him in the squad will definitely improve us. last season he was the main focal point of attack for WHU, so attracted touble marking a lot of the time. This season, with a front 3 of Ronaldo, Rooney and Tevez - you can't really double mark all of them. This'll free up both of the other two as well. Add in that they can all dribble very well and go past people, and most defences will be stretched to find the speed necessary to pick all three up.

What will take time is teaching them to interract with each other, the way that Giggs and rooney did in the Roma thrashing. Switching positions, changing sides, pulling markers away and so forth. But they're all under 25, so they have lots of time to figure it out!

if and when the tevez deal is done we still need another striker..

no news of either saha or ole's comeback...

smith and rossi sold...

we've got options in midfield and defense but lookin kinda lightweight upfront...

Bye smudge. I cant believe we give Saha all the fuckin chances in the world when he comes back from his injuries and yet he still plays shit and then we sell Smith after 1 big injury.......

I guess its cuz people wanted Smith seeing how he's a good player but no one wants Saha.
We really should have loaned out Smith instead.

Or it could be because:
Saha 109 Goals in 305 Appearances
Smith 68 Goals in 321 Appearances

I know maybe 25 of those were in United's midfield, but still. If you want someone on there to score goals, Saha is just better at it. Plus he's faster, better in the air and has a quarter of the yellows smiths managed to rack up.

I'll admit it, I like Smith, I want him to be good. He's a hard fighting englishman who wears his heart on his sleeve. But he just doesn't score many goals for a goalscorer.

Where's the saha hate coming from anyway? He's actually pretty good you know!

you think? most of the time I see the ball played up to Saha's feet he miscontrols it and thats the end of our attack! am I the only 1 who can see that?

Anderson is playing - great!

He's surrounded by reserves who play at 1/4 of his quality - crap!

Is the Tevez deal as good as done? Because in PES I can't stand Saha, he can't do anything right... :)

If you're looking for a goal scorer in Smith then you've completely missed the point.

Look I really want Smith to be good enough. He has heart and spirit, and loved playing for United. What could be better than cheering him on in the red. However, he was a CF. Not a support striker, not a player to play on the wings...his one goal should have been to score goals, get into good positions and be at the right place at the right time.

You can argue he's good at holding the ball up, but so is Saha. That he closes down defenders, well yes, but what exactly did that achieve? I think he's lost a yard of pace from injury, and he never had that yard of pace to lose. It's harsh, it sucks, but its true. Other than the Milan goal, he barely had a sniff of a chance in the last few games of the season when he played, and in United's team that in itself says something. Watch Ole when he comes, no pace left, but see where he pops up to score.

Smith undenbialy is a fans favourite for his heart, but not for being a United-class centre forward. Sucks, but there you go.

Its very easy to make players like Smith sound like shit but the fact is, he brought a lot to the team. Its not just about how many goals you scored or how many assists you make. Smith was great because he did things that other players wouldnt do for us. He'd apply pressure on defenders for 90 minutes without showing any signs of fatigue, he'd play is simple whereas a lot of our other players would go for glory, he'd be happy playing anywhere on the pitch if it meant helping the team out, and he'd lift the spirit of the team when no one else did it for us.
When you look around the team and see guys like Rooney, Ronaldo, Giggs, Nani, Anderson, Ole, etc, why the hell would you need another attacking player like Saha when you can have something different like Smith? Thats almost as bad as thinking it would be wise to have 4 Rooney's or 4 Van Nistelrooys in your squad just because of what each one of them gives you.
We dont need more of the same, we need a variety. What if we played someone like Ronaldo and Rooney up front against a very experienced defence that read all our attacking runs? The last thing you'd do is bring on Saha cuz he wouldnt change things up for you. Bring on Smith and they have a totally different player to handle.
Saha only gets so many goals cuz of the type of player he is. With him in the team, most of the service is directed at him, and he's only looking to score himself like Ruud and not set someone else up. He doesnt score many because he's actually that good. Throw him into another team and watch how he rots on the bench.
Its like how keepers from weaker teams always look good. Its not because they're good keepers, its just that their team is so bad, they're having to be called into action a hell of a lot more than keepers from stronger teams.

I agree with beachryan on this one, has much as I liked Smith for what he did at United I dont think he was simply good enough. Its looking likely Tevez will join and I do think United will easily cope next season. It will be a nightmare for defenders to mark Rooney, Tevez and Ronaldo not to mention the spice Nani and Anderson will bring, the quality through out the squad is immense

Saha is like Cole in a way. Cole wasn't good enough but he did okay.
Saha is good enough although not world class. For that reason, he is worth keeping as he won't mind being on the bench sometimes

I agree with beachryan and marukomu on this one.Harsh cold fact is that Smith wasnt good enough for us.We bought his passion to say the least.We got home grown passion coming up the ranks,lets not forget that.What we got now is a massively flexible squad with players able to play in different positions and sides.This I believe, will be our key for the coming season.
