I think no other club is willing to gamble on that 9 million for Owen...but our club did pay a whole lot of money for a crocked dutchman whom go on to become one of our most deadliest forwards ever.

We may need 2 strikers now. I feel one will be Gudjohnsen as he wont play that much with Henry there but we need a player to lead the line.

I think Owen is truely past his prime and with the recent bad luck that he has with injuries...i think it's a gamble...but 9 mill for him...and if smith was to go, then i will have to say, yeah...Owen can be the man for us.....best if Trezeguet comes as well...quite love him during his Juve time in Serie A....(and meeting him in person also helped a bit..hahaha...great lad)

but i still don't want Smith to go!!! Gudjohnsen might leave now with Henry here as dead man said, but..will he fit that well???

Gudjohnsen for me, he knows the English game so he wouldnt be a gamble. We always saw at Chelsea that he has a great football brain and he would just add to the spice at United I really do think he would fit in well, he isnt a top scorer but I think them days are gone, its miles better sharing goals rather than having to rely on one man for goals. Plus the guy always had it in for Man Utd when he played!

I hope he goes. What a disappointment he has been.He was given opportunities to prove himself and to show why he should be in the United team. Im sorry but to a championship club he would be a good player but he just isnt United class! IMO Nor is Saha, he would be better for a mid-tabled Premiership side.

yeah , didn't do that well during the u-21 euros either . saha, i don't think any club want to take a risk unless we offer them a really sweet price.

I am truly hating hypocrite players like Quagliarella and his leeching agent now.Using the pride of our name just to promote themselves and get a bigger paycheck.May players and agents like these never play in our shirt ever.

I'd prefer Rossi to Torres to be honest. A lot of potential if he can score so many goals against Italian defences.

Me too, i'd hate to see this kid leave before getting a proper chance, for £25+mill torres is a big risk, let the scousers have him!

Problem being the English game is far more physical than the Italian league, and with him being so small, he can easily get out muscled. And from what I remember, he isn't THAT quick either is he?

nah he's not that quick but he's still developing, and I think Seria A defenders have guile as well as strength...

but yeah I see where ya coming from corradi had a decent ish record in italy as well and he was dogshit!

Rossi is quick...not only quick but clever...if you follow the reserves before he left for newcastle,he skipped past mean defences like they werent there...not to mention scoring some cracking goals...

true..

its all down to us having to raise funds, cos we blew the lot on our midfield...

£6mill for smithy and £7mill for Rossi would fund a move for a maybe gudjohnsen and maybe anelka...

and as much as I like smudge and rossi I would feel alot better about our attacking options...

Zola wasn't big and strong but he did okay. We've got to give this kid a chance. I'd hate to see him beating the world for Juve or Milan.
Fegie did say that this kid was the future of Man Utd.

I also remember Sir Alex saying that Rossi is one of the best finishers in his team...even while Ruud is still around.I believe we will sell Smith and another fella and keep Rossi.

you obviously have never watched a serie A game. he is extremely quick, so i dont think you have watched him that much either. Its not as if andrew johnson, leroy lita, michael owen, ofembi martins,
defoe, robbie keane, etc... are that big either...

so was sheva, but you dont really think sheva is dogshit do you? Corradi had no service, thats what it all comes down to for forwards. I think its hard for players to adjust so quickly, it takes time.

Selling Rossi without giving him a chance seems like a mistake to just about everyone who has seem him in the reserves and on loan. But, in the end Fergie knows better than we do, and we have to trust his judgement.

Personally I'd like to see us stick with the team we have. Forward line is fine, Rooney, Saha, Smith, Rossi, Ole - hell it's a lot better than what we had this year for the majority of the season, adn we still did pretty damn well! I don't want Torres or Villa or Tevez. We don't need to spend that much.

IMO, sell Richardson, Pique (I know he's good, but is his heart really at United? plus he'd fetch a sum) Brown(Evans seems a better long term choice) Heinze (hurts me to say it, but he'd fetch a good sum and isn't getting any better) and maybe one more. That'll at least partially offset the summer spending, and we'll be in great shape with a squad of:
VDS, Kuzcak, Foster (eventually)
G. Neville, Rio, Vidic, Silvestre, Evans, Evra, O'Shea
Hargreaves, Fletcher, Scholes, Nani, Ronaldo, Giggs, Anderson, Martin
Rooney, Saha, Ole, Smith, Rossi

Not exactly a weak squad, with pretty good replacements all around. Obviously injuries will play a part over hte course of the season, but you just have to hope for hte best sometimes.

A lot of midfielders there beach. Not many defenders and why is Saha still in your choice? do you rate him?

Injuries aside when he got a good run in the team he was terrible! The ball goes to Saha, he miss controls it as he flops his arms and legs about and the opposition steal the ball off of him easily... attack broken down. Repeat this process 10 times more and thats Saha all over in a match!

sorry pal but Sheva and Corradi do not belong in the same sentence...

yes maybe corradi isnt as bad as he looked at siddy (tho I doubt it)

sheva's problems were for different reasons, he will probley have a great season!

I wouldn't sell rossi. not for 7m anyway. If torres can fetch 25m i think rossi should fetch far more than 7m as well.

If Saha is fit all season I think he will be good. The season before last he was injured at the biggining then near the end he was scoring the goals. Then the beginning of last season he was scoring and then got injured again. (Correct me if i'm wrong)

So I think if he stops being a brittle so and so, I think he will do more than a job for you guys.

I agree. Saha is a decent player, who is quite capable of producing the goods as long as he stays fit.

I'm not denying that Saha wont get you goals but he's only gonna get them because of all the service he's getting here. He might even get 20 a season but the point is that we only need a player who's slightly better and more consistant and we'll be getting maybe twice the amount that Saha would give us.

If we're gonna buy players like Nani, Anderson, Ronaldo, Rooney, etc, I wanna see us use a striker who will make the most of them.
