Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

I thought that Heinze was the better option against the more difficult teams as Evra is better at getting forward against the weaker ones. I can't see why we can't keep both of them. Maybe there is more too it than just playing. Silvestre is behind both of these players so if he wanted to get rid of one it should be him.

yeah silvestre blows, he should be gone. Marukomu milanista has some quesitons about japan in the OT section, can you help him out?

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Giggsy's quit international football. Great news because that allows him to concentrate solely on club football. At his age, it's also a boost because he'll have more time to rest during international breaks.

yeah but a travesty in that giggsy never got to play in a major tourney for wales

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

In case you guys aren't aware yet, David Gill and Carlos Queiroz from United met with Miguel Ribeiro Telles and Carlos Freitas from Sporting and Jorge Mendes, Nani's agent, in a hotel in Lisbon this morning. Sounds serious.

He's in good company with Best and Di Stefano. Di Stefano played for Argentina, Colombia and Spain but never in a World Cup!

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Also, after missing out on Bale, who would you rather have as cover for left-back, Heinze or Silvestre? I'd hate to see Heinze leave. He's a great tackler, and gives everything on the pitch. Hopefully, after pre-season he will be fully fit and ready to give Fergie a selection head-ache.

To be honest, I'd rather have Heinze in the first team and Evra as the back up.
Evra should only be used against weaker teams and for the last half of the tougher games.

Heinze against Milan was awful in both games.

Prefer Evra, has more pace & is more direct.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

really?? sorry to disagree with u deadman, but i thought that Heinze did better in those games than Evra. i mean, Evra was everywhere, but he didn't keep his position. That led to a lot of attacks and chances for Milan.

and if Evra didn't bump into Heinze, i reckon Kaka would've scored that....

sorry, i just always prefer Heinze before Evra.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Bloody Hell!!!

Breaking news in Portugal: Nani AND Anderson (Porto) are headed to ManU!

Didn't see that one coming, but it's all over the news. You get 2 wonderfull youngsters... I envy you... :)

Edit: Anderson is confirmed: 25 Million Euros. Nani isn't confirmed yet.

Each to there own. Prefer a left/righ back who can play a bit. Heinze cant.

Nani is coming. Its on official site

Anderson sounds like its too much but after SAF & Ronaldo i have faith.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

17.5m for both being mooted but we all know thats made up of tons of add-ons if we win the league & CL.

Great signings. Long term signins too. Bale & Huntelaar would of complete a great summer.

Obviously just Huntelaar now will do me.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

It's reported that it cost ManU 25 Million Euros for each player.

Compared to what you paid for Carrick, i'd say thats a bargain...

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

doubt we will get huntelaar right?

we've spent so much already.

these were the 3 signings fergie was after i think.

still no striker tho.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Didnt see this one coming, I cant beleive it actually. Two of the world best young talents move to Man Utd in a smooth transfer without nothing dodgy happening surely that cant be right ;)

Saha may get sold. Heinze will also as will Richardson. There is still money there with those sales mate at least 15m.

Huntelaar reported as 12m.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

i don't think we need a defence next season. all out attack!

would be great to see someone who can stay fit and bang in some goals. i like saha, but he is never fit.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Finally you have someone worthy of the number 10 shirt. I usually play with ManU on PES6, time to do some transfers... :)

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Heinze against Milan was awful in both games.
Like I said, Heinze hasnt had a decent run of games. But even then, some of his defensive work has saved us enough times. He does VERY well to cover for the center halves.
In a big game, he's a must have cuz we're supposed to have the attacking players to make up for what Evra gives us. Which is why its best to use Evra to kill off a game early on against the weaker teams and use him late on in the bigger games when the opposition is tired.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

airjoca was it you that described Anderson has a great number 10 on this forum somewhere ?

if so tell me more :)...

I've described him on this forum, probably on this thread. He is a pure 10. Easily the best player in the Portuguese league, his dribbling, technique, vision and passing are on par with just about anyone.

Nani, Anderson, Ronaldo and Rooney will destroy just about everyone me thinks. :)

Edit, and to quote myself:
Heargreaves and Carrick at holding midfield positions may allow the wingers of a 4-3-3 to have a lot more freedom.

So, my Portuguese (and Benfica fan) advice:

Buy Nani for the other wing position, to be Giggs replacement.

Buy Anderson (Porto) and give him number 10. He is the pure 10. I consider him a mix of Deco and Ronaldinho. At 18, he's easily the best player playing here.
For those that do not know him yet: CLICK ME

Buy a proper striker.

Tell Sir Alex to stop reading my posts here! :D

I think ManU should loan Ronaldo and Rooney to Benfica (fingers crossed...:))

Them three are gonna bully Rooney, arent they?

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

this is unbelievable
man utd is going to be even stronger next season
nani and anderson are amazing players and i think under the guidance of SAF they will evolve and might even reach ronaldo's level
congrats on this amazing buys man utd's fans
i's a shame for the portuguese championship though. but were used to exporting players because we need the money....

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

But this will be great news for your National side.

Yep Ronaldo is not devastating for club & country. All thanks to SAF

We may see Anderson in Copa America

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

I'm too excited now. The transfer period has just begun too.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

I'm really looking forward to seeing these guys in action next season; never has the phrase "exciting prospects" been so accurate.

How long til the start of the new season?!
