Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Did anyone see the reserves match last night?

Ando & Obertan & Cameron Stewart looked good. Admittedly it was against a young Everton side, but it's always nice to see players having good games.
Diouf's goal was quality too (would you expect anything less ;) )

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Old Trafford has been open for 100 years today.

Let's hope the Glazers fuck off so it can go another 100.

:GSCARF:

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

:)) Indeed, Whats the latest on the Red Knights front?

I didn't see it Jumbo but I did hear that Obertan was pretty awesome, will find the highlights later.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Doh! Have a worrying feeling we'll be a bit toothless tomorrow/today, no Nani or Giggs means Park will probably start on the left which could leave us short of support in attacking moves.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Diouf, Anderson and Obertan all did well in the reserves on Thursday with SAF watching in the crowd so I'd expect to see at least 1 of them involved.

Park's great on the left. Not to mention Valencia on the right who's brilliant.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Everton deserved to win today. Evans seems to have lost his way, has been really poor the past few matches. Couple that with my long standing belief that Brown is a natural athelete, who doesn't understand the game of football, and our centre back pair just isn't good enough. Simple as.

It's been 3/4s of a season without our back 4, impressive that we're doing as well as we are.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Tired legs killed us, Everton just were much better in the 2nd half and probably deserved the 3-1 scoreline. Berba was good whilst the service lasted but Park really didn't offer much offensively at all (not like we had other options with Obertan not being ready yet).

Rooney was piss poor but with the way he's been playing you can let that go. Evans is young but will surely learn from these mistakes, Overall midweek took to much out of us.

Have to start hoping Chelsea falter again :((

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

We need Rio and Vidic back so bad.

On a side, even Football Manager knows the power of the Diouf.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

In all seriousness - Diouf actually looks rather good. Must be averaging a goal a game in the reserves, which isn't really something to be scoffed at for a 22 year old with no experience in England. But for some composure would be 2 in 3 in first team sub appearances as well. Would much rather have seen him on than Owen, who is quite frankly useless...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Yeah, Owen's turning into one of the most disappointing signings I've ever witnessed in terms of the expectations I had for them.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Why isn' Owen atleast getting some games in the reserves? Im sure they could help with sharpening him up.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Owen's done good for me, He won us the Derby, got a hattrick against Wolfsburg when he had a 2 man defence. He was never going to be anything other than a sub but the thing which killed him is the 4-3-3 and Rooney. He's playing as good as any CF on the planet and when we do occasionally go 2 up top Berbatov is the better option.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

He knows his role and shuts his mouth.

Deserves a bit more credit than he gets since he was never going to be a regular starter for us.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Yeah how can a free transfer on low wages who's got a few goals but not played much be the most disappointing signing? He's not even had a full season yet. Surely Hargreaves is more disappointing given how much he cost and how little he plays.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

In case anyone was looking for an update on the Red Knights takeover bid, there's a article / interview with Keith Harris here. He's urging supporters to boycott all merchandise, food, and even your season tickets.

There's also a report out that SAF has banned all youth & academy players from wearing coloured boots, as a way of keeping them grounded. I think it's a good idea - if you want to look flash you have to earn it, unless your name is Mame Biram Diouf :P

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Try getting China to boycott then an impact will be felt, with all the success Mutd has had in recent years (Glazer era). Those fickle fans will have a better chance in removing the salt from the sea than removing Glazers out . mUtd the biggest in the World vs 30k fans mmmmm

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

How do you get fans in China to boycott? And during the season while we're not touring Asia, how much of an impact would they even have?
Boycotting league games is the best way to do this I'm affraid. I know we're at the point of the season where games are more and more important and IMO, I'd rather see us fill Old Trafford for that extra support. But from the start of next season would be the best time for this to kick off.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I'm not sure how much revenue is generated through the Asian market, though I would guess it's a significant amount, but I doubt a boycott would have as much impact as matchdays.
You're looking at around £3m in gate receipts, add to that money from programmes, merchandise & refreshments.

Another thing we could do would be to sit in silence for the first half of our games (though some ABUs would say we're like that anyway!;))), though that would probably have a negative effect on the team. Liverpool did something similar not too long ago during a televised game. The commentators moaned about it, but the message got across.

It would certainly give the Green & Gold campaign more momentum.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Im sure they are ways to get to China`s Mutd support group but don`t stop there... world wide. It isn`t a stretch and movements are more effective w/ World support. If I wanted to remove salt from the ocean I would try to make it a world support not just friends around the pier.

ppl who set no boundaries are the ones that do the impossible Martin Luther King. A man who changed America and used the world to help his cause.

What happen to the 1st movement before the take over FC something..where are they now?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

FC United of Manchester? They're already 2 promotions away from the Coca Cola League 2 division.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

He needs another 8 from the last 10 league games to match Ronaldo's best. The boy is unstoppable at the moment.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Rooney is just getting better and better, 10 league games and up to 7 Cup games with 27 already!
