Manchester United Thread

Chelsea may have won but they weren't that good either. Those 2 goals won't go in like that every week.
I don't think Green played that well yesterday. The shots he saved were pretty routine. Even the one from Ronaldo was placed too close to him when it could have been a couple more feet to the right of him. It was just poor finishing from us.
Anyway, it's another kick up the arse for us and just maybe a blessing in disguise with the transfer window about to open.

Personally for me Rooneys had too many stinkers this season and should be benched. He was awful today in just about everything he did and has been for quite some time whereas Ronaldo on the other always looks dangerous even if hes not having the best of games.

What a bummer.I hate to give West Ham credit but they deserve for wanting to prove something to their new manager.Curbishley only wanted a point from his boys but he got all three.I said to my friend the other day that United can afford to lose one game and draw another and we would still be infront of Chelsea. One part of that came true today. Its situations like last night is where we needed a big game player to come on to settle the score. That player could well be Henrik Larsson...

I think Fergie's decision to give the players a complete 3day break off from training and everything else when they in thay peroid of 8days was a bad idea. It took thier mind off the task at hand. Rooney was caught messing around in new york watching a NBA game in mid-week where he almost got injured. I can imagine It would have messed up his body clock and looked as though it affected him in this match. You do wonder about the advice he seems to be getting from those around him.

Thing is, you guys shouldn't get so wound up by him!

Back on-topic, West Ham V United tomorrow under new management! I am pretty nervous about this one; ok West Ham are struggling but you know what it's like when a new coach takes over, the players seem to get a new lease of life for a match or two. We need THREE points, won't be happy with a draw (or a loss!).

I told you. :(

Still, who is on top? MANCHESTER UNITED! I would rather be TWO POINTS in the clear than two points behind.

It's just a defeat. Even when we did the treble we lost games. I'm not worried. (yet)

you can say that, but I predict Chelsea will go unbeaten for the rest of the season, and the fact that Lampard scored a great goal yesterday will probably mean he'll go on a scoring spree for a while, plus the fact that we couldn't score after all the possesion and chances was just like last year, and Rooney has played shite in the past two games, and we'll probably not beat Villa, and Chelsea WILL beat Wigan, so that will probably mean that we wont be top at Christmas

We're nowhere near the side that won the treble, they had back-up for one thing, who do we have? John O'Shite

Chin up mather. Go back 3 months and tell me you seriously thought we'd be top at Christmas.
We've got Park and Smith coming back. Solskjaer is getting more fitness and Larsson is due. We'll also have Rossi as cover. Silvestre isn't getting a game. I'm pretty happy.

Seriously, could we actually have expected that at this stage of the season we'd be top of the table, with an amazing goal difference and lille in the CL? Things aren't so bad!!!

The disasterous collapse has begun my friends.

We had 2 excellent back up strikers yes. But in midfield our back up was pretty much- Cruyff- Butt- P.Neville- Blomqvist. Not exactly miles better than Park- Fletch- O'Shea- Richardson is it? We do need more cover though, due to Chelsea's complete and utter piss take of a squad.

maybe not three months ago, but I definately thought about it when they lost to Spurs, but we blew it against them, and we've blown it properly against West Ham. Park and Smith are unfortunately nothing compared to what Chelsea have, and will get in January, Ole still could be vital, but not right now, I have hopes for Larsson, so we'll have to see. And as for Rossi, I honestly dont think he can cut it, he's not exactly set the world on fire for Newcastle, regardless of the situation that they were in. As for your last point, yeah at least Silvestre isn't playing

my film studies teacher looks just like him, I'm gonna have to get a picture of him to compare

He is one ugly bloke. He looks like Grandfather Troll or something...Side news,Bayern finally admitted that they would let Owen Hargreaves go if the right offer comes along and if they found a suitable player to replace him...the last one is a bit daft,I mean, they have to release Hargreaves first, then get a replacement. Its now a bit clearer where Hargreaves will end up next summer. Some other bloke at soccergaming said that we are looking at Daniele De Rossi and some striker called Gabriel.

I'm not getting my hopes up with the thing regarding Hargreaves just yet. They only said that they would consider letting him go if they could find any suitable replacement, which is beyond my belief since they're a bunch of spastics and will now probably use 'we can't find replacement as an excuse'.Keeping Hargreaves seems to be just a matter of pride for Bayern at this point. They made a stupid point of criticising other Bundesliga clubs in the Summer for not buying in new stars from other leagues and now they don't want to be seen selling to a big club from England ( abit of an inferiority complex at work there).

It's hard on Hargreaves as Bayern are only acting like this because they know he is too well-mannered to go "on strike" like many other players in his position would.

I think we should sign Fernandes on loan until the summer when Hargraves becomes available. Fernandes would do more than a job in midfield and would not be cup tied in the CL like Hargreaves is. Would be the absolute ideal situtaion. That would be enough for the January window.

As for De rossi I would love if he was to join. I do remember his elbow in the WC against USA. It made me like him even more after that elbow, as bad as it sounds!!. He plays ugly or as roy keane muses and sums up scholes as 'Hes nasty'. We could take 2 or 3 extra red cards per season just to have a keano-type back. Yes, he'd add some grit to our midfield. However I don't think he'll leave the azzurri.. He's Roma's future captain, he came through their youth system, his father is a coach for one of the youth teams and he's loved by the fans only slightly less than Totti.
